The aim of this study is to develop a simple and rapid field method for the determination of chloride content in tobacco green or cured leaves. To set up a practical process, several factors such as the proper sampling position of each leaf, the size of leaf lamina pieces for blending, the substitution of deionized water fur the extracting solution, 0.1N $HNO_3$, the submerging durations before blending, and the standing times before measuring were studied using flue-cured and burley tobacco with a stable and reproducible Chloride Meter, KRK CL-2Z. From the results, chloride contents of tobacco leaves could be analyzed with the Chloride Meter(CL-2Z) using the suspension of 14 mm diameter leaf disks after soaking in distilled water for 30 min., blending with a mini-blender for 30 seconds. The chloride contents measured in this way showed highly significant correlations with ones by the conventional potentiometric method using an ion meter-chloride electrode and $AgNO_3$ titration. In our method, the procedures such as drying, powdering and weighing samples, and using chemical reagents for extraction (0.1N $HNO_3$) and titration(0.028N $AgNO_3$) could be eliminated. These results suggest that the newly constructed method using the Chloride Meter is more efficient to determine the chloride content of tobacco leave in comparison with the one by the Ion $Meter:AgNO_3$ titration.

This study was carried out to establish the manufacturing process of barley leaf powder tea. The optimal manufacturing process among many trials was determined with sensory evaluation. Finally established process and operation conditions were as follows: pretreatment (cutting and washing), steaming ($100^{\circ}C$, 30 sec), primary drying and roasting ($130^{\circ}C$, 40 min), rolling (RT, 25 min), middle drying and roasting ($60^{\circ}C$, 30 min), final drying and roasting ($55^{\circ}C$, 25 min), drying ($60^{\circ}C$, 20 min), roasting ($85^{\circ}C$, 20 min), and powdering (120 mesh). The barley leaf powder tea produced by this process mainly consisted of dietary fiber (33.8%), amino acids (12.9%), minerals (4.7%) and ${\beta}-carotene$ (6.9 mg%).
Sea lettuce(Monostrima nitidum) were treated with several alkali agents on condition with water blanching at 9$0^{\circ}C$ for 10 min., and followed by drying and powdering, thus, the power samples treated and the not treated were then allowed to be stored at $25^{\circ}C$, dark place for 5 months. The sea lettuce powder samples were evaluated for green color intensity and volatile flavor at a month intervals. The green intensity of the samples were measured by using Hunter-lab colorimeter, therefore, the decoloration of greenness were seen in both of the samples treated and the not treated, but there were slight inhibitory effects on decoloration in the treated with alkali agents, especially in the treated with KHCO$_3$.The volatile flavor of the samples were collected by simultaneous distillation-extraction, and then the 31 flavor compounds were separated on HP-5 capillary column(25m$\times$0.25mm i.d) and identified by using GC-MS. From these results, it was presumed that the characteristic impact flavor compounds were $\beta$-cyclocitral, $\beta$-cyclohomocitral, ionene, $\alpha$-ionone and $\beta$-ionone. The total content of the characteristic impact flavor compounds decreased in the samples treated with alkali agents more alkali agents more than in the not treated, but lee decrease was observed in the treated with KHCO$_3$.
The process of Cheonggukjang powderization and application to the western food recipes were established. Cheonggukjang was made and processed into the powder. The optimum condition of Cheonggukjang solution for the powdering process was 50%(w/w). And it was completely grinded by a mixer. Drying condition of a spray dryer was to be injected 1 mL/sec. in $105^{\circ}C$ with 3,000 rpm. The components of Cheonggukjang were 49.7 g/100 g of moisture, 2.6 g/100 g of crude ash, 16.2 g/100 g of crude carbohydrate, 23.4 g/100 g of crude protein, 8.1 g/100 g of crude fat, and 9.3 g/100 g of cellulose. The major amino acid was glutamic acid and its quantity was 4,345.5 mg/100 g. And the next were aspartic acid (2,539.2 mg/100 g) and leucin (1,963.2 mg/100 g). In application, 4 kinds of soup recipes using Cheonggukjang powder were developed. The sensory test showed the acceptability between the soup with the powder and the soup without the powder was significant at odor(p<0.05) in vegetable cream soup and broccoli soup, and at taste(p<0.01) in vegetable cream soup. And the soup with non powder showed more acceptability.
The iron oxides nanoparticles and iron oxide with other compounds are of importance in fields including biomedicine, clinical and bio-sensing applications, corrosion resistance, and magnetic properties of materials, catalyst, and geochemical processes etc. In this work we describe the preparation and investigation of the properties of coated magnetic nanoparticles consisting of the iron oxide core and organic modification of the residue. These fine iron oxide nanoparticles were prepared in air environment by the co-precipitation method using of $Fe^{2+}$: $Fe^{3+}$ where chemical precipitation was achieved by adding ammonia aqueous solution with vigorous stirring. During the synthesis of nanoparticles with a narrow size distribution, the techniques of separation and powdering of nanoparticles into rather monodisperse fractions are observed. This is done using controlled precipitation of particles from surfactant stabilized solutions in the form organic components. It is desirable to maintain the particle size within pH range, temperature, solution ratio wherein the particle growth is held at a minimum. The iron oxide nanoparticles can be well dispersed in an aqueous solution were prepared by the mentioned co-precipitation method. Besides the iron oxide nanowires were prepared by using similar method. These iron oxide nanoparticles and nanowires have controlled average size and the obtained products were investigated by X-ray diffraction, FESEM and other methods.
Preservation of the original form is the principle for conservation, management and utilization of cultural heritages. Thus, non-destructive analysis of these samples are important field of the conservation science. In this study, examined the applicability of nondestructive surface X-ray diffraction analysis (ND-XRD) for cultural heritage by materials (rock specimen, jade stone, pigment painted specimen, earthen artifact, metal artifact). In result, all type of sample is recorded suitable X-ray diffraction patterns for identifying mineral composition in case of surface condition with adequate particle size and arrangement. And diffraction pattern is reflected surface information than matrix. Therefore, ND-XRD is thought to be applicable not only mineral identification but also interpretation of manufacturing technique and alteration trend about layered sample (in horizontally or vertically). Whereas some exceptional diffraction patterns were recorded due to overlapping information on specific crystal planes. It caused by skip the sample treatment (powdering and randomly orientation). It could be advantageously used for mineral identification, such as preferred orientation of clay minerals. In contrast, irregular diffraction pattern caused by single crystalline effect is required careful evaluation.
This paper explain about the development of environmental friendly, low cost and stable supply material i.e., rice husk and shell were used as micro incorporating bio waste filler. Those were processed by ball mill and analyzed through micro observation by FE-SEM, EDS and particle size distribution. The obtained filler was mixed with epoxy resin for the manufacturing of CFRP composite and study tensile properties. In EDS analysis main contents of rice husk and rice husk ash are C, O and Si. When rice husk was burned C and Si ration were increased. Shell powder has C, O and Ca. It caused $CaCO_3$ from shell. Surface weighted mean of rice husk powder is $6.19{\mu}m$ and volume weighted mean is $14.77{\mu}m$. And it has rod type particles which caused hair and husk structure parts. Surface weighted mean of rice husk ash powder is $1.55{\mu}m$ and volume weighted means is $8.20{\mu}m$. Surface weighted mean of shell powder is $2.53{\mu}m$ and volume weighted mean is $5.79{\mu}m$. The tensile decreased with increasing the content of micro filler in CFRP composites. In case of rice husk, the significant decrement of tensile strength was observed. and in case of shell powder, there is no effect of changes take place in tensile strength.

For the purpose of improving storability and process adaptability of potato, we carried out an experiment to investigate the effects of microwave heating on the total lipid content and fatty acid composition of the potatoes in storage. The samples were made by powdering potatoes exposed to the microwave energy in a 560W, 2,450MHz oven for 0, 60, 120 and 180 seconds respectively. From the examination of the samples stored at th temperature of $25{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ for 12 months, the following results were obtained. As an over-all tendency, the longer the samples were heated and the longer they were stored, the total lipid content decreased but the microwave-heated samples showed decreasing rates less than those of the controls for the whole storage periods. As major fatty acids of the potato flour, linoleic acid (30.92 %), palmitic acid (29.34 %), linolenic acid (8.90 %) and stearic acid (8.23 %) were detected from the samples. The longer the samples were exposed with microwave, unsaturated fatty acids like 18:2, 18:3 increased. generally with the lapse of storage time, saturated fatty acids increased while unsaturated ones decreased. But in the samples heated with microwave, we observed an apparent suppression of the increasing rate of the saturated fatty acids and the decreasing rate of the unsaturated fatty acids, and the suppressing effects turned out to be proportional to the length of microwave heating.

With the objective of developing a functional food source, we established optimal processing conditions for the larvae of Allomyrina dichotoma, which have been used in traditional medicine to treat hepatic disorders in Korea. Without suitable processing, the larvae are difficult to consume as a food because of their disgusting taste and smell; moreover, in this form they might be a potential microbial hazard. In this study, we investigated the effect of feeding material, sterilization, and powdering after freeze-drying on the food quality of the larvae of A. dichotoma and on cytotoxicity against Raw 264.7 cells. Three to five days feeding with the sawdust from discarded oak-trees is sufficient for the breeding process. The sawdust was sterilized by vapor for five minutes. Sterilization of the larvae at a high temperature ($115^{\circ}C$ for 5 min, 0.9 $kgf/cm^2$) is necessary to eliminate pathogenic bacteria and fungi. The results of the cytotoxicity assay showed no toxicity in the prepared extract from larvae of A. dichotoma. In addition, to prepare the larvae for human consumption, various feeds were used and the smell, color, and taste were evaluated. Our results suggested that larvae of A. dichotoma could be developed as food source when a suitable processing method is established.
In the case of adhesives & restoration agents currently being used for the preservation treatment of ceramics and earthenware, epoxy type, cellulose type and cellulose type are mainly being used. However, they are showing various problems such as re-detachment from severe contraction, color change from yellowing, work inconvenience of staining on tools and hand during usage and irreversibility. For the purpose of solving the issues of yellowing and irreversibility of epoxy resin being used to restore ceramics, urethane synthetic resin with low yellowing excellent reversibility has been developed in this study. The adhesive strength of urethane resin that has been developed has excellent properties with 2.07MPa for undiluted solution, which is 1.5 times higher than that of existing material EPO-$TEK301^{(R)}$ 1.21MPa. The result of workability measurement showed that the wear rate of urethane resin (in Talc 50wt%) was 1.09%, which was somewhat higher than that of existing material Quick $Wood^{(R)}$ (1.02%). In addition, its wear rate is two times higher than that of $EPO-TEK301^{(R)}$ (0.41%) and $L30^{(R)}$ (0.39%), thereby showing an advantage in its forming process compared to existing materials. As for the advantage of urethane resin of reversibility experiment, 12 hours after acetone, ethyl alcohol deposition, urethane resin and filler talc were dissolved 100% while showing powdering phenomenon. Compared to 0% reversibility of existing epoxy resin, it has much superior reversibility. The result of UV rays experiment to evaluate its durability showed that ${\Delta}E^*ab$ color change value based on undiluted solution of urethane resin was 2.76 before & after UV rays exposure, which was a decrease by about 7-20 times compared to that of existing resin, thereby minimizing the issue of heterogeneity.
