수조모델을 이용한 구조체의 전위상승에 대한 측정값과 계산값의 비교 (Comparison of Measured Data and Theoretical Results for Potential Rise of Structure Using Electrolytic Tank Model)

  • 본 논문에서는 구조체의 전위상승에 대해 수조실험장치에 의한 측정값과 CDEGS 프로그램에 의한 계산값의 비교를 나타낸다. 시험전류가 구조체 모형을 통해 흐를 때, 실시간으로 수조실험장치를 이용하여 구조체의 유형에 따른 전위상승이 측정 및 분석되었고, CDEGS 프로그램에 의해 계산되었다. 구조체 모형은 160:1의 축척으로 4가지 유형에 대해 설계 및 제작되었다. 측정값과 계산값이 비교되었을 때, 유사한 분포를 나타내었으며 이를 통해 측정의 신뢰성을 얻게 되었다. 망상형 철골구조로서 전기적 케이지 방식인 구조체 모형 B에서 가장 낮은 전위상승이 발생하였으며, 전위상승 분포는 구조체에 부착된 콘크리트의 저항률 및 흡수율에 의존하는 특성을 나타내었다.

  • Ground potential rise is a vital part of personal safety, this paper presents the ground potential rise distribution induced by a ground rod. The experiments were conducted with the AC square wave currents according to the buried depth of ground rod. The ground potential is significantly varied in the vicinity of ground rod and the ground potential distribution is flat and few with increasing the buried depth of ground rod.

  • This paper deals with a comparison of individual and common grounding method for potential rise. When a test current flowed through grounding electrode, potential rise was measured and analyzed for grounding method using a electrolytic tank in real time. The grounding electrodes were designed and fabricated with ground rods on a scale of one-eightieth. Potential rises of individual grounding method were higher than those of common grounding method. The distributions of surface potential are dependent on the distance from grounding electrode.

  • A grounding system is generally composed of several vertical, horizontal electrodes or grids. Excessive ground potential rises due to adjacent grounding electrodes can cause failures or misoperation of electronic devices and control systems. It is therefore necessary for computer-related and information-oriented equipment to be placed at a sufficient distance from the areas influenced by grounding electrodes. In this paper, in order to propose a method for evaluating the ground potential rise and interference in the vicinity of vertical grounding electrodes, the experimental and theoretical results on the potential interference between vertical grounding electrodes and its frequency dependence were described. The ground potential rise is sharply decreased with increasing the distance between grounding electrodes. In case that the separation of vertical grounding electrodes is less than 1.5[m], the potential interference coefficient was greater than 0.1 and linearly increased with the frequency of the test current within the frequency of 1[MHz].

  • In DC traction systems, a part of feedback current returning through rails becomes leakage current, illumination on a metal laid underground results from the leakage current to ground. To prevent the leakage current on rails, feedback rails almost have insulated with the ground. Insulation between rails and the ground causes that the earth method changes a isolated method in DC traction systems. the rail potential rise results in the isolated method. the rail potential rise causes an electric shock when a person touches the ground and rolling stock. To decrease the rail potential rise and leakage current, there are methods for reducing the feedback resistance and current of rails, increasing the leakage resistance, decreasing the distance between substations. But it are necessary to forecast and analyze the rail potential and amplitude of leakage current. In this paper, we modeled DC traction systems and feedback circuit to simulate the rail potential and amplitude of leakage current using PSCAD/EMTDC that is power analysis program, forecasted the rail potential and amplitude of leakage current about changing various parameters in the electric circuit. By using the simulation model, we easily will forecast the rail potential and amplitude of leakage current in case of a level of basic design and maintenance in electric railway systems, valuably use basic data in case of system selection.

뇌격전류에 의한 수평접지극의 전위상승 계산 (Calculation of Electric Potential Rise of Horizontal Grounding Electrode Caused by Lightning Stroke Currents)

  • An electric potential rise of the grounding electrode developed by the lightning stroke currents should be calculated for the purpose of effective protection of electrical and electronic equipment. In this paper, the electromagnetic model was applied to calculate the harmonic impedance of grounding electrode. Also the empirical equation related to the permittivity and resistivity of soil was used. The lightning current waveforms, which are expressed by the Heidler's equation, were used in order to calculate accurately transient electric potential rises. The transient voltage was obtained by using the simulated harmonic impedance and the lightning current in frequency domain. Finally, the transient voltages of horizontal grounding electrode(10m) under lightning stroke currents were calculated by IFFT(Inverse Fast Fourier Transform).

  • In case of a line-to-ground fault at transmission lines, a portion of fault current will flow into the earth through the footings of the faulted tower causing electrical potential rise nearby the faulted tower footings. In this situation, any buried pipelines or structures nearby the faulted tower can be exposed to the electrical stress by earth potential rise. Although many research works has been conducted on this phenomena, there has been no clear answer of the required separation distance between tower footings and neary buried pipeline because of its dependancy on the soil electrical charactersics of the concerned area and the faulted system. In this paper, an analytical formula to calculate the requried sepeartion distance from the faulted tower has been derived.

  • This paper presents a comparison of experimental value by hemispherical grounding simulation system and calculated value by CDEGS program for ground potential rise of structure. When a test current flowed through structure grounding electrodes, ground potential rise was measured and analyzed for types of structure using the hemispherical grounding simulation system in real time, and was computed by means of CDEGS program. The model structures were designed and fabricated with two types on a scale of one-one hundred sixty. When the experimental data were compared with the theoretical values, the similar profile was shown. Therefore, the confidence of measurement was obtained. The distributions of ground surface potential are dependent on the resistivity and absorption percentage in concrete attached to structure.

  • In order to analyze ground potential rise of grounding system installed in buildings, the hemispherical grounding simulation system has been designed and fabricated as substantial and economical measures. Ground potential rise(GPR) has been measured and analyzed for shapes of grounding electrode using the system in real time. The system is apparatus to have a free reduced scale for conductor size and laying depth of a full scale grounding system and is constructed so that a shape of equipotential surface is nearly identified a free reduced scale with a real scale when a current flows through grounding electrode. The system was composed of a hemispherical water tank, AC Power supply, a movable potentiometer, and test grounding electrodes. The test grounding electrodes were fabricated through reducing grounding electrode installed in real buildings such as rod type, mesh grid type. When a mesh grid type was associated with a rod type, GPR was the lowest value. The proposed results would be applicable to evaluate GPR in the grounding systems. and the analytical data can be used 0 stabilize the electrical installations and prevent the electrical disasters.

토중방전을 수반하는 접지봉의 임펄스응답에 대한 기초적 연구 (A Fundamental Study on the Impulse Responses of Ground Rod Attendant upon Soil Discharges)

  • This paper deals with the fundamental characteristics of transient and conventional ground impedances associated with soil discharges when the lightning impulse voltage was applied to a small-sized ground rod. The potential rise responses of the test ground rod to impulse currents were observed. The current-voltage (I-V)curves, transient and conventional ground impedance curves were examined.. To analyze the transient behaviors of ground rod attendant upon soil discharges, the impulse responses of ground rod were compared with those of non-inductive resistor. As a consequence, the potential rise and impedance of ground rod were reduced and the currents dispersed into the earth were increased due to soil discharges near the ground rod. Soil discharges are classified into two regimes; ionization and breakdown phenomena. The potential rise and impulse impedance of ground rod are significantly decreased by breakdown processes in soil.
