  • The numerical simulation on the internal flow characteristics of the adaptor in a two-fluid nozzle has been performed to investigate the effects of carrier air supplying parameters using a commercial code. The four adaptor models with the different positions in the carrier air supplying port were considered at the fixed conditions of urea-water solution and carrier air supplying. As the results from the numerical analysis, the internal pressure of the adaptor was varied with the port position for carrier air supplying, and it shows lower pressure value than the atmospheric pressure. Consequently, the flowrate of urea-water solution issuing from the feeding injector with the adaptor varied up to 30% with the port positions for the carrier air supplying. When the carrier air is supplied from the side from the feeding injector axis and the upper part from the feeding injector tip, the flowrate of urea-water solution issuing from the feeding injector with the adaptor show higher value than other carrier air supplying conditions.

  • Interior design companies in Seoul, Korea, senior level designers-designers shared leadership model has not been implemented by the design management. The whole interior design companies are worked each by a leadership team consisting of senior level designers, contractors and designers, being accountable for company, workers, and budgets. The results for workers' opinion in leadership positions were evaluated. All 154 leading workers of all professional teams were anonymously interviewed with a questionnaire containing 45 items regarding their satisfaction with this new shared leadership model. The response rate was 96.2%. After all, the leading workers were satisfied with the shared leadership model both in their own designing practice and in general. Non-design workers were comprehensively more in favor of quite a few aspects of shared leadership than senior level designers, but even the latter reported to be generally satisfied. However, both professional teams estimated leading positions to be only modestly attractive. The consequences yield some evidence that the transform from traditional leadership models to the senior level designers -designers shared leadership model may have advantages in the management of interior design companies. Furthermore, there is a need for greater clarity about precisely what we mean by shared leadership and also a deeper exploration of potential challenges arising from shared leadership models if we are to try to come to terms with their practice.

  • A simulation study was conducted to evaluate a fine-mapping method exploiting population-wide linkage disequilibrium. Data were simulated according to the pedigree structure based on a large paternal half-sib family population with a total of 1,034 or 2,068 progeny. Twenty autosomes of 100 cM were generated with 5 cM or 1 cM marker intervals for all founder individuals in the pedigree, and marker alleles and a number of quantitative trait loci (QTL) explaining a total of 70% phenotypic variance were generated and randomly assigned across the whole chromosomes, assuming linkage equilibrium between the markers. The founder chromosomes were then descended through the pedigree to the current offspring generation, including recombinants that were generated by recombination between adjacent markers. Power to detect QTL was high for the QTL with at least moderate size, which was more pronounced with larger sample size and denser marker map. However, sample size contributed much more significantly to power to detect QTL than map density to the precise estimate of QTL position. No QTL was detected on the test chromosomes in which QTL was not assigned, which did not allow detection of false positive QTL. For the multiple QTL that were closely located, the estimates of the QTL positions were biased, except when the QTL were located on the right marker positions. Our fine mapping simulation results indicate that construction of dense maps and large sample size is needed to increase power to detect QTL and mapping precision for QTL position.

  • A calibration technique is proposed to improve the performance of 2-D towed array shape estimation using the Kalman filter. In the case of using displacement sensors, 2-D hydrophone positions estimated by the Kalman filter are calculated by assuming that the adjacent hydrophones are horizontally equi-spaced so that maximum distance is equal to the array length. The assumption causes errors in estimating hydrophone positions. The proposed technique using linear model approximation or spline interpolation can reduce the errors by exploiting the fact that the whole length of array is preserved whatever the array shape is. The numerical experiments show that the proposed method is very effective.

  • This study develops the market attractiveness assessment model and draws the strategic target markets and their corresponding exporting strategies through identifying the market positions in the dimensions of market attractiveness scores and market positional strength to achieve the innovative export promotion of Korean heavy electric industry and the resulting improvement and reversal of comparative-disadvantage position. In chapter 2, we analyze the stages of selecting target markets, the constructs and their measure variables of market attractiveness models, and the components and strategic policy implications of directional policy matrix. And in chapter 3, we identify the comparative advantage positions of Korean heavy electric industry in the global market through analyzing its trade structure, trends, balance, ratio-balance, and specialization index by the item and the region respectively. We find that the Asia/Pacific region is the most attractive export market of the Korean heavy electric equipment industry, the following important strategic target markets are the America, MENA, CIS/East Europe Regions in the order of their attractiveness and competitive position dimensions. In the mean time, the sub-Sahara Africa and West Europe region is shown to be the long-run-viewpoint target market requiring the innovation or divest strategies owing to their low attractiveness and the low market share of Korean exports.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the mandibular positions and the habitual mandibular opening and closing movements in normal subject using the newly developed electric mandibular movement analyzing device(Saphon Visi-Trainer C-II.Tokyo Shizaisha Inc. Tokyo, Japan) One of the cause of the temporomandibular joint dysfunction has been considered abnormal mandibular positions especially the abnormal deviation between intercuspal position from retruded contact position. The subjects in this study were consisted of 55 young adults in 20 decade who had normal occlusion, no prosthodontic restorations and no history of disturbance or pain on temporomandibular joint and masticatory muscles. The results were as follows : 1. The deviations of intercuspal position from retruded contact position were 0.23mm in frontal view and 1.02mm in sagirral view. 2. The larger the deviation of intercuspal position from the retruded contact position, the higher the proportion of uncoincidence of the habitual nandibular closing and opening trajectories was, and the proportion was higher in sagittal view than frontal view, 10mm opening than 5mm opening. 3. Correlation between the deviation of intercuspal position from retruded contact position and uncoincidence rate of the habitual mandibular closing and opening trajectories was higher in frontal view than sagittal view.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method to improve low light image. In order to improve the image quality of a night image with a moving object as much as the quality of a daytime image, the following tasks were performed. Firstly, we reduce the noisy of the input night image and improve the night image by the tone mapping method. Secondly, we segment the input night image into a foreground with motion and a background without motion. The motion is detected using both the difference between the current frame and the previous frame and the difference between the current frame and the night background image. The background region of the night image takes pixels from corresponding positions in the daytime image. The foreground regions of the night image take the pixels from the corresponding positions of the image which is improved by the tone mapping method. Experimental results show that the proposed method can improve the visual quality more clearly than the existing methods.

  • In terms of protective engineering, there are no noticeable researches regarding covered-positions for smaller units in South Korea. So, standards to maintain and build protective facilities for larger units have been applied in ones for smaller units without any adjustment. The previous study was to calculate penetration depth of the concrete walls because the experiment performed indoor. In this outdoor experiment, velocity of projectile impact as one of the other important factors was considered to prove the validity of 30cm concrete wall thickness as effective protective level of the covered-position. Random effects and extraneous variables which could be occurred in outdoors experiment were controlled with statistical techniques. As a result, velocity of projectile impact was significant variable and the given standard, 30cm thickness of concrete walls was as valid as ever.

  • This paper deals with the development of a predictive probabilistic model, a composite dependency-reflecting model (CDRM), which was designed to detect core promoter regions and transcription start sites (TSS) in vertebrate genomic DNA sequences, an issue of some importance for genome annotation. The model actually represents a combination of first-, second-, third- and much higher order or long-range dependencies obtained using the expanded maximal dependency decomposition (EMDD) procedure, which iteratively decomposes data sets into subsets on the basis of dependency degree and patterns inherent in the target promoter region to be modeled. In addition, decomposed subsets are modeled by using a first-order Markov model, allowing the predictive model to reflect dependency between adjacent positions explicitly. In this way, the CDRM allows for potentially complex dependencies between positions in the core promoter region. Such complex dependencies may be closely related to the biological and structural contexts since promoter elements are present in various combinations separated by various distances in the sequence. Thus, CDRM may be appropriate for recognizing core promoter regions and TSSs in vertebrate genomic contig. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm, we tested it using standardized data and real core promoters, and compared it with some current representative promoter-finding algorithms. The developed algorithm showed better accuracy in terms of specificity and sensitivity than the promoter-finding ones used in performance comparison.

  • The research postulates the conceptualization of talent in the Vietnamese banking sector via examining the factors pertaining to the concept of talent and talent management (TM) in the sector. This study applied qualitative research methods. A total of 20 managers and directors of ten banks (three public, four private and three foreign banks) were recruited for semi-structured interviews. The findings revealed that a combination of interconnected soft skills, learning ability, flexibility, technology adaptability, integrity and risk management skills contributes to talent identification. Managers in some private banks construed talent to be commensurate with high performance and high potential, whereas managers in public banks and foreign banks mainly relied on performance results in talent recognition. Moreover, talented employees holding sales-related jobs are given the most attention by management in the studied banks. Regarding practical implications, the banking community and practitioners' focus should be imparted to soft skills development and integrity control in order to foster employee performance and attitudes. Attention should be paid not only to sales positions, but also to other positions within the bank. This study is one of a few which explores talent concepts and TM approaches in the banking sector in general and Vietnamese banking field in particular.
