In this paper, a heuristic procedure is presented which first determines the positions of adding storage tank. Then a nonlinear programming is formulated to obtain their optimum size. Flexible utilization(shared equipment) of storage tank is suggested. The effectiveness of this method is verified by solving two literature problems.

Nonlinear adaptive control for the laboratory pressure-flow model. Control valves are installed on both sides. The pressure and the outlet flow rate are measured. The pressure and outlet flow rate are controlled variables and the control valve stem positions on both sides are the manipulated variables. The variation in both inputs will influence both controlled variables. The control performance is good, in spite of varying valve coefficients of inlet and outlet.

The feedback controllers for the active vibration control of elastic systems are developed using optimal regulator, optimal tracking, time optimal and noise observer algorithms. Using the modal analysis of the elastic systems, the effects of the actuator positions, the input weighting factor and the magnitude of the constraint of the actuator force are investigated.

Pneumatic equipments are widely used in factory automation. Compressed air has many merits, but because of compressibility pneumatic actuators are used limitedly where requires an exact intermediate stopping positions and very slow constant speed. This paper shows the application example of multi-position cylinder to the forming machine.

To clarify the morphological characteristics of Korean ginseng cultivated, the shapes and frequencies of Inflorescence, flowering bud, fruit, and leaf were investigated. The shapes of inflorescence, flowering bud and fruit, and leaf were divided into 6, 3, and 7 groups, respectively. The frequencies of these shapes were not significantly different according to the planting positions.
