  • The FEM technique was applied to simulate the change of stress characteristics for various structural parameters and loading positions of the load cell. The output voltage of the load cell was then computed to compare with the manufactured load cell. The tendency of the stress variations of the load cell was well agreed with the basic formula of the single fixed. beam. Also, the stress characteristics according to the change of loading positions showed respective featured results as different structure. The calculated output voltages of the load cell were very close to those of the real manufactured ones.

  • In this paper. we propose an algorithm to automatically generate a novel scene along the alternated viewing positions using the bidirectional disparity morphing. To compute the disparity between two reference images, we use the 2-step block based matching algorithm and define three occluding patterns so as to smooth the computed disparities, especially for occluded regions. We discuss the advantages of this algorithm compared to the commonly used schemes and show some experimental results with real data.

  • Nowadays, with numerous emerging applications (e.g., traffic control, meteorology monitoring, mobile computing, etc.), access methods to process current and future queries for moving objects are becoming increasingly important. Among these methods, the time-parameterized R-tree (TPR-tree) seems likely the most flexible method in one, two, or three-dimensional space. A key point of TPR-tree is that the (conservative) bounding rectangles are expressed by functions of time. In this paper, we propose a new method, which takes into account positions of its moving objects against the rectangle's bounds. In proposed method, the size of bounding rectangle is significantly smaller than the traditional bounding rectangle in many cases. By this approach, we believe that the TPR-tree can improve query performance considerably.

  • In this paper, an efficient method is proposed to place the cooling lines(CLS) and ejector pins(EPS) of mold design. The other components of mold, except CLS and EPS, can be generated automatically by batch processing. But the placements and sizes of CLS and EPS depend on the shapes of a part, so that the design works of CLS and EPS should be processed interactively. Using the pre-defined reference points, the positions of CLS and EPS can be determined interactively. By the proposed method, the interference occurred during placing CLS and EPS can be avoided, and the proper lengths of them can be calculated automatically. The information of the positions and lengths are stored in BOM database for generating a machining data. The proposed method is implemented with Unigraphics API functions and C language, tested on Unigraphics V15.

  • The tedious work, connected to the traditional computation of altitudes and azimuths and the plotting of the position lines, has been a severe objection to celestial fixes. But recently computers have become to be used generally for computations of altitudes and aximuths and the computing objection seems to be practically overruled. Now it seems appropriate to concentrate on other problems which are the procedure of improving accuracy of ship's position and the design of a general computing procedure to determine the coordinates of the optimally estimated ship's position. In this paper, such procedures as an application of Kalman filter and the results of the Digital simulation conducted under various noise conditiions are presented. The positions estimated by Kalman filter are compared with the running fixes and the most probable positions obtained from a single position line, and it is confirmed that the resutls of the proposed method is evidently accurate than others.

  • The aim of this paper is to analyze the phonetic features of the lexical contrastive focus and the segmental contrastive focus. In this paper, I made two variables to study the realization of the contrastive focus. One is the three phonation types of the Korean plosive, a lenis, a fortis and an aspirate. The other is the positions of the segmental contrastive focus syllable in a word. I examined pitch, duration, intensity, VOT, formant, and so on. The realization of focus is different by the phonation types and the positions of the focused syllable.

  • This paper proposes a fast zooming and focusing technique for implementing a real-time surveillance camera system which can capture a face image in less than 1 second. It determines the positions of zooming and focusing lenses using two-step algorithm. In the first step, it moves the zooming and focusing lenses simultaneously to the positions calculated using the lens equations for achieving the predetermined magnification. In the second step the focusing lens is adjusted so that it is positioned at the place where the focus measure is the maximum. The camera system implemented for the experiments has shown that the proposed algorithm spends about 0.56 second on average fur obtaining a focused image.

  • The localization system for tour guide robot was developed which is inevitable and important for the guide robot in order to guide the tourists and explain the history or contents of the site. The localization system is based on the non-inertial sensors such as a DGPS, Dead-Reckoning. The information of the DGPS is used to update the estimated positions from Dead Reckoning. The extended Kalman filter was used for the fusion of the measured information from the sensors and estimated positions by Dead Reckoning. The simulation results show that it is very reliable and the position error is bounded within a certain extend.

  • In this study, an optical imaging method was developed for the measurements of the sizes and velocities of droplets in sprays. Double-exposure single-frame spray images were captured by the imaging system. An image processing program was developed for the measurements of the sizes and positions of individual particles including separation of the overlapped particles and particle tracking and pairing at two time instants. To recognize and separate overlapping particles, the morphological method based on watershed segmentation as well as separation using the perimeter and convex hull of image was used consecutively. Better results in separation were obtained by utilization of both methods especially for the multiple or heavily-overlapped particles. The match probability method was adopted for particle tracking and pairing after identifying the positions of individual particles and it produced good matching results even for large particles like droplets in sprays. Therefore, the developed optical imaging method could provide a reliable way of analyzing the motion and size distribution of droplets produced by various sprays and atomization devices.

  • This paper presents a vibration analysis method for constrained mechanical systems driven by constant generalized speeds. Equilibrium positions are obtained first and vibration analysis are performed around the positions. The method developed in this paper employs partial velocity matrix to obtain a minimum number of differential equations. To verify the accuracy of the proposed algorithm, linear vibration analyses of two numerical examples are performed and the results are compared with results from a commercial program or previous literature.
