A Study on a Mobile Sun Tracking System (이동형 태양 추적 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper. a prototype of a mobile Sun tracking system is proposed. The proposed system uses 2-axis tilt sensor and 3-axis magnetic sensor to measure the orientation and the posture of the system according to the horizontal system of coordinates, which are used to compensate the slope effects. Then through astronomical calculation using the time and position information obtained by GPS sensor the azimuth and altitude of the Sun from that location is calculated. The position of the Sun is converted to that of the mobile Sun tracking system coordinates and used to control A-axis and C-axis of the system.

  • A tracking controller is presented for RLFJ(rigid link flexible joint) robot manipulators with only position measurements. The controller is developed based on the integrator backstepping design method and on the two observers: the first is simple linear form observer for the filtered link velocity errors and the other for the actuator velocities. The proposed controller achieves exponential tracking of link positions and velocities while keeping all internal signals bounded. It also guarantees exponential convergence of the estimated signals to their actual ones. Finally, simulation results are included to demonstrate the tracking performance.

  • Presented are closed-form expressions of the steady-state solution for the three-state exponentially correlated acceleration(ECA) target-tracking filter. The steady-state solution is derived based on Vaughan's approach for the case that the measurements of target position and velocity are available at discrete points in time. The solution for the ECA filter using only position measurements is obtained as a special case of the presented results.

  • In this paper, accurate position control of a stenciling robot manipulator is designed. The stenciling robot is requried to draw lines and characters on the pavement. Since the robot is huge and heavy, the inertia is expected to play a major role in the tracking performance as desired. Here we are proposing neural network control scheme for a computed-torque like controller for the stenciling robot. On-line compensation is achieved by neural network. Simulation studies with stenciling robot are carried out to test the performance of the proposed control scheme.

  • In order to eliminate position errors existing at the steady state in the motion control of robotic maniprlators, a new fuzzy control algorithm is proposed using three variables, position error, velocity error and integral of position errors as input variables of the fuzzy controller, This controller is applied to the tracking control of robotic manipulators in Cartesian space. Three dimensional look-up table is used to reduce the computational time in rel-time control. Simulation and experimental studies are conducted to evaluate the control performance for the two axis direct drive SCARA robot system.

  • The ability of a robotic manipulator to recognize the shape of an object by feeling its band around the object is useful in many applications. Two-dimensional object contour tracking by force feedback is described. The system consists of IBM PC/AT, PUMA 560 manipulator, PUMA controller and a tip sensor. Position control is accomplished by using VAL command and the unmodified PUMA controller. A contour tracking algorithm is developed and tested on three different types of objects. The experimental results show that the objects' shapes can be successfully identified.

  • An electric motor is the one of the most important parts in robot systems, which mainly drives the wheel of mobile robots or the joint of manipulators. According to the requirement of motor performance, the controller type and parameters vary. For the wheel driving motors, a speed tracking controller is used, while a position tracking controller is required for the joint driving motors. Moreover, if the mechanical parameters are changed or a different motor is used, we might have to tune again the controller parameters. However, for the beginners who are not familiar about the controller design, it is hard to design pertinently. In this paper, we develop a nominal robust controller model for the velocity tracking of wheel driving motors and the position tracking of joint driving motors based on the disturbance observer (DOB) which can reject disturbances, modeling errors, and dynamic parameter variations, and propose the methodology for the determining the least control parameters. The proposed control system enables the beginners to easily construct a controller for the newly designed robot system. The purpose of this paper is not to develop a new controller theory, but to increase the user-friendliness. Finally, simulation and experimental verification have performed through the actual wheel and joint driving motors.

  • In general mechanical servo systems, friction deteriorates the performance of controllers by its nonlinear characteristics. Especially, friction phenomenon causes steady-state tracking errors and limit cycles in position and velocity control systems, even though gains of controllers are tuned well in linear system model. Even if sensor is used higher accuracy level, it is difficult to improve tracking performance of the position to the same level with a general control method such as PID type. Therefore, many friction models were proposed and compensation methods have been researched actively. In this paper, we consider that the variation of mover's mass is various by loading and unloading. The normal force variation occurs by it and other parameters. Therefore, the proposed control system is composed of main position controller and a friction compensator. A parameter estimator for a nonlinear friction model is designed by adaptive control law and adaptive backstopping control method.

Train Tracking System Using Phase Difference of Arrival (도달 위상차를 이용한 열차 위치 추적)

  • Accurate and reliable tracking of train is essential for a train control system. The fixed block system which utilizes the track circuit has been used widely for detecting train position. As an alternative, the moving block system has the advantage over the fixed block system since it enables shorter headway and easier maintenance. This paper presents a new technique for the train tracking system which uses radio signal for the train position detection. The proposed algorithm uses the phase difference of arrival of radio signal for the detection of train position. Experimental verification of the algorithm is presented in the paper.

Macro-Micro Manipulation with Visual Tracking and its Application to Wheel Assembly

  • This paper proposes a wheel-assembly automation system, which assembles a wheel into a hub of a vehicle hung to a moving hanger in a car manufacturing line. A macro-micro manipulator control strategy is introduced to increase the system bandwidth and tracking accuracy to ensure insertion tolerance. A camera is equipped at the newly designed wheel gripper, which is attached at the center of the end-effector of the macro-micro manipulator and is used to measure position error of the hub of the vehicle in real time. The redundancy problem in the macro-micro manipulator is solved without complicated calculation by assigning proper functions to each part so that the macro part tracks the velocity error while the micro part regulates the fine position error. Experimental results indicate that tracking error satisfies the insertion tolerance of assembly $({\pm}1mm)$, and thus it is verified that the proposed system can be applied to the wheel assembly task on a moving hanger in the manufacturing line.
