An Experimental Study on Prediction of Bead Geometry for GTA Multi-pass Welding in Underhead Position (GTA 아래보기 자세 다층용접부의 비드형상 예측에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • The automatic arc welding is generally accepted as the preferred joining technique and commonly chosen for assembly of large metal structures such as in areas of automotive, aircraft and shipbuilding due to its joint strength, reliability, and low cost compared to other joint processes. Recently, several mathematical models have been developed and studied for control and monitoring welding quality, productivity, microstructure and weld properties in arc welding processes. This study indicates the prediction of process parameters for the expected welding quality with accordance to the adaptive GTA welding process. Furthermore, the mathematical models is also develop to aid the selection of an optimal welding process as the generation of process controls to predict the bead geometry as a function output parameters in the GTA welding process. The developed models through this study showed comparatively excellent predicted results, and will extend to other welding processes to integrate an optimized system for the robotic welding process.

  • As we become an aging society, the number of elderly patients continues to increase. Pressure sores that can easily occur in patients with trauma cause serious socio-economic problems. In general, prevention of bedsores through predicting the patient's posture is being developed. Developed method usually use artificial intelligence techniques to estimate the patient's posture by measured pressure images in the mattress. In this method, it has a problem the reduction of estimation accuracy when posture of patient is changed. Therefore, it is necessary to use the filter of pressure images in the position transition of patient. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to predict the patient's posture, and an algorithm to reduce the ambiguity that can occur in the patient's posture transition section. By obtaining stable data through this algorithm, learning/prediction stability of the neural network can be expected, and prediction performance is improved accordingly. Through experiments, the effectiveness of the algorithm was verified.

  • Tracking model of a drifted ship lot the search and rescue mission in southern sea of Korea is studied. In this model, search area is determined by considering standard deviation of position around reference point. The reference point is estimated for a given type of ship when marine environmental conditions such as wind and current are given. A database for environmental data, which is necessary for the real-lime tracking of drilled ship, is gel)elated on southern sea and western sea of Korea. Using this database, the real-time prediction of wind and current is possible. The simulated trajectories and search area of our model ate validated by comparing with reported real data.

A Study on the Prediction of Pressure Drop for Ship Strainer (선박용 스트레이너의 압력강하 예측에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, flow analysis was performed on three types of strainers for ships with different flow rates to predict the pressure drop of the strainer due to the filter of strainer. In the case of flow analysis, the flow analysis was performed by applying the porous media method by applying the resistance value derived by Ergun's equation to the filter position. As a result of the analysis, it was found that when the dimensions of the strainer body were small, the influence of the flow rate on the pressure drop was large. In addition, the amount of pressure drop and the flow rate are almost linearly proportional, and an analysis formula that can predict the amount of pressure drop was derived. In order to predict the amount of pressure drop of the strainer when blockage exist in the strainer filter, the analysis was performed by introducing the resistance ratio to derive the prediction equation. Using this equation, it is thought that it will be possible to predict the performance of the strainer due to blockage in the future strainer design and field application.

  • Air purifiers can be placed where the air cleaning is required, making it easy to manage indoor air quality. The position of the air purifier affects the indoor airflow pattern, resulting in different air cleaning efficiency. Many efforts and strategies have been examined through numerical simulations and experiments to find the proper location of the air purifier, but problems still remain due to the various geometrical indoor spaces and arrangements. Herein, we develop an artificial intelligence model to predict the performance of an air purifier depending on the installation location. To obtain the training data, numerical simulations were performed on the different locations of the air purifiers and airflow patterns. The trained artificial intelligence model predicted the air exchange performance depending on the installation location of the air purifier with a prediction accuracy of 92%.

Heat Transfer Analysis of Concrete Members Considering Evaporation Heat under High Temperature (고온 하에서 기화열을 고려한 철근콘크리트 부재의 온도해석)

  • When water inside the concrete member evaporates by high temperature, the evaporation heat which absorbs surrounding temperature occurs. The rate of increment of the internal temperature in concrete is reduced due to the evaporation heat in spite of continuously increasing external temperature. In this paper, the prediction method of internal temperature of concrete members considering the evaporation heat under the high temperature is presented. Finite element method is employed to facilitate thermal analysis for any position of member. And the thermal characteristics models of high strength concrete affected by high temperature are proposed. To demonstrate the validity of this numerical procedure, the prediction by the proposed algorithm is compared with the test results of other researchers. The proposed algorithm shows a good agreement with the experimental results including the phenomenon that temperature is lost by the evaporation heat.

Simulation of Ceramic Powder Injection Molding Process to Clarify the Change of Sintering Shrinkage Depending on Flow Direction (유동방향과 밀도이방성 분석을 위한 세라믹 분말사출성형 해석)

  • This study has focused on manufacturing technique of powder injection molding of watch case made from zirconia powder. A series of computer simulation process was applied to prediction of the flow pattern in the inside of the mould to clarifying the change of sintering shrinkage depended on flow direction. The material properties of melted feedstock inclusive of the PVT graph and thermal viscosity flowage properties were measured for obtaining the input data in computer simulation. Also, molding experiment was conducted and the results of experiment showed that good agreement with simulation results for flow pattern and weld line location. On the other hand, gravity and inertia effect have an influence on velocity of melt front because of high density of ceramic powder particles in powder injection molding against the polymer injection molding process. In the experiment, the position of melt front was compared with upper gate and lower gate position. The gravity and inertia effect could be confirmed in the experimental results.

  • The integrated global position system (GPS) and inertial navigation system (INS) has been considered as a cost-effective way of providing an accurate and reliable navigation system for civil and military system. Even the integration of a navigation sensor as a supporting device requires the development of non-traditional approaches and algorithms. The objective of this paper is to assess the feasibility of integrated with GPS and INS information, to provide the navigation capability for long term accuracy of the integrated system. Advanced algorithms are used to integrate the GPS and INS sensor data. That is fuzzy inference system based Weighted Extended Kalman Filter(FWEKF) algorithm INS signal corrections to provided an accurate navigation system of the integrated GPS and INS. Repeatedly, these include INS error, calculated platform corrections using GPS outputs, velocity corrections, position correction and error model estimation for prediction. Therefore, the paper introduces the newly developed technology which is aimed at achieving high accuracy results with integrated system. Finally, in this paper are given the results of simulation tests of the integrated system and the results show very good performance

Prediction of the Thrust Center Movement Due To Rocket Nozzle Deflection (로켓 노즐 변위에 따른 추력 중심 변화 예측)

  • A computation was made to predict the movement of the thrust center position due to the rocket nozzle deflection. Three dimensional computations were done for the nozzle deflection angles of 0/1/3 degrees, and the oscillation of aerodynamic coefficients, not observed for the axisymmetric cases, was encountered. The position of the thrust center was found to be at -16 mm and -4 mm for the deflection angles of 1 and 3 degrees, respectively, and it can be concluded that the thrust center movement due to nozzle deflection is negligible. In addition to the computational results, the mechanism of thrust generation in a rocket engine is described with a brief mathematical derivation as it is sometimes mistaken. Also presented are some descriptions on the problem of pressure center definition for symmetric cases such as a rocket external flow problem and the nozzle deflection case.

  • We aim to propose the prediction modeling method of ship's position with extracting ship's trajectory model through pattern recognition based on the data that are being collected in VTS centers at real time. Support Vector Machine algorithm was used for data modeling. The optimal parameters are calculated with k-fold cross validation and grid search. We expect that the proposed modeling method could support VTS operators' decision making in case of complex encountering traffic situations.
