Research on Vehicle Diagnostic and Monitoring technology Using WiBro Portable Device (와이브로 휴대기기를 사용한 차량진단 및 모니터링 기술에 관한 연구)

  • This is concerned with the technology to monitor the vehicle operation, failure and disorder by using WiBro portable device. More precisely, the technology makes it possible that the information collection device is connected to both ECU(Electronic Control Unit) which is the device for controlling engine, transmission, brake, air-bag, etc that are connected to in-vehicle network and OBD-II connector that is for data collection from various sensors. In addition, with a WiBro portable device (cell phone, PDA, PMP, UMPC, etc). equipped with a vehicle diagnostic programs, information for operation, failure and malfunction can be obtained and analyzed in real-time, and alarm is alerted when the vehicle is in abnormal status, which makes the early reactions to the status. Furthermore, the collected data can be sent through WiBro network to the server managed by the company specialized in managing the vehicles, thus the technology could help the drivers who have less knowledge about their auto-vehicles have safe and economic driving. There is always a possibility of malfunction due to various types of noise that are caused by wring-harness when the device is wired-connected. In this research, in order to overcome this problem, we propose a system configuration that can do monitoring and diagnosis with a device for collecting data from vehicle and a personal WiBro device. Also, we performed research on data acquisition and interlock for the system defined by the definition for information and data sharing platform.

  • The necessity of voice recording device was increased using voice signal IC with designed LSI/VLSI. The control unit which developed here voice recorder has low power dissipation, portable, and comfortable using voice source. However, the Korea voice recorder abilities far behind of foreign products for its performance and size on sailing. So we used Chua circuit to improvement voice quality abilities after minimize power supply device and circuit by designing voice recording device into lower power dissipation power circuit.

  • The flexible solid state device has been widely studied as portable and wearable device applications such as display, sensor and curved circuits. A zero-bias operation without any external power consumption is a highly-demanding feature of semiconductor devices, including optical communication, environment monitoring and digital imaging applications. Moreover, the flexibility of device would give the degree of freedom of transparent electronics. Functional and transparent abrupt p/n junction device has been realized by combining of p-type NiO and n-type ZnO metal oxide semiconductors. The use of a plastic polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film substrate spontaneously allows the flexible feature of the devices. The functional design of p-NiO/n-ZnO metal oxide device provides a high rectifying ratio of 189 to ensure the quality junction quality. This all transparent metal oxide device can be operated without external power supply. The flexible p-NiO/n-ZnO device exhibit substantial photodetection performances of quick response time of $68{\mu}s$. We may suggest an efficient design scheme of flexible and functional metal oxide-based transparent electronics.

Portable Amperometric Perchlorate Selective Sensors with Microhole Array-water/organic Gel Interfaces

  • A novel stick-shaped portable sensing device featuring a microhole array interface between the polyvinylchloride-2-nitrophenyloctylether (PVC-NPOE) gel and water phase was developed for in-situ sensing of perchlorate ions in real water samples. Perchlorate sensitive sensing responses were obtained based on measuring the current changes with respect to the assisted transfer reaction of perchlorate ions by a perchlorate selective ligand namely, bis(dibenzoylmethanato)Ni(II) (Ni(DBM)2) across the polarized microhole array interface. Cyclic voltammetry was used to characterize the assisted transfer reaction of perchlorate ions by the $Ni(DBM)_2$ ligand when using the portable sensing device. The current response for the transfer of perchlorate anions by $Ni(DBM)_2$ across the micro-water/gel interface linearly increased as a function of the perchlorate ion concentration. The technique of differential pulse stripping voltammetry was also utilized to improve the sensitivity of the perchlorate anion detection down to 10 ppb. This was acquired by preconcentrating perchlorate anions in the gel layer by means of holding the ion transfer potential at 0 mV (vs. Ag/AgCl) for 30 s followed by stripping the complexed perchlorate ion with the ligand. The effect of various potential interfering anions on the perchlorate sensor was also investigated and showed an excellent selectivity over $Br^-$, $NO_2{^-}$, $NO_3{^-}$, $CO{_3}^{2^-}$, $CH_3COO^-$ and $SO{_4}^{2^-}$ ions. As a final demonstration, some regional water samples from the Sincheon river in Daegu city were analyzed and the data was verified with that of ion chromatography (IC) analysis from one of the Korean-certified water quality evaluation centers.

  • The visible light communication is a communication method of outputting binary data based on the illumination threshold value at the light receiving diode of the receiving unit, when the LED of the transmitting unit transmits light. However, separate receiver is necessary to receive the optical signal, there is a problem that a device not equipped with such a receiver can not utilize visible light communication. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a portable visible light receiver applicable to devices using USB OTG. Implemented portable visible light receiver converts the binary data received from the LED into a character string of ASCII code and transmits it to another device. Through data transmission experiments using smart phone confirmed that it is possible to transmit ASCII codes in the proposed method.

  • Safety and security system have been internationally enhanced in a field of shipping logistics. Accordingly, techniques for safety and security have been studied steadily. The need of portable radiation detection device is increasing by the search of the container is enhanced. In this paper, we propose to study on the application of the temperature compensation algorithm to the platform to improve the accuracy and the realization of portable radiation detection device based on Cortex-A9. Analog board deforms signal output from the sensor. And Cortex-A9 platform analyzes the signal received and displays the results. Additionally we use the temperature compensation algorithm and thereby we ca look the same results even if the temperature changes.

Portable 4K UHD Broadcasting Device using 5G Mobile Network as a Transmission Channel (5G 이동통신망을 전송채널로 활용하는 휴대형 4K UHD 방송중계 장치)

  • In this paper, we propose a protocol structure of a portable 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) broadcast relay device that utilizes a 5G mobile communication network as a transport channel, and construct a prototype to conduct a broadcast relay performance test through a 5G mobile communication network. The test shows that the encoding time of the 4K UHD encoder is from a minimum of 86.28ms to a maximum of 88.41ms, the relay delay time in the 5G mobile communication network is 13.645ms on average, the delay variation is 17.49ms, and the glass-to-glass delay time is 289.90 on average, the delay variation is 27.63ms. Using the developed prototype, a relay test between Seoul and Anseong is conducted, and the possibility of 4K UHD broadcasting through a 5G mobile communication network is confirmed.

  • In this paper, we propose a low-cost license plate recognition system based on smart cam system using Android. The proposed system consists of a portable device and server. Potable device Hardware consists of ARM Cortex-A9 (S5PV210) processor control unit, a power supply device, wired and wireless communication, input/output unit. We develope Linux kernel and dedicated device driver for WiFi module and camera. The license plate recognition algorithm is consisted of setting candidate plates areas with canny edge detector, extracting license plate number with Labeling, recognizing with template matching, etc. The number that is recognized by the device is transmitted to the remote server via the user mobile phone, and the server re-transfer the vehicle information in the database to the portable device. To verify the utility of the proposed system, user photographs the license plate of any vehicle in the natural environment. Confirming the recognition result, the recognition rate was 95%. The proposed system was suitable for low cost portable license plate recognition device, it enabled the stability of the system when used long time by using the Android operating system.

  • In recent years, a miniature spectrometer has been extensively developed due to the combination of fiber optics and semiconductor detector arrays. This type of miniature spectrometer has advantages of low price and robustness because of the capability of mass production and no moving parts are required such as lenses, mirrors and scanning monochromator. In this study, for skin diagnostics, a portable near infrared (NIR) system has been developed using a LlGA microspectrometer, which is photo-diode arrays-type.(omitted)
