Strain gradient based static stability analysis of composite crystalline shell structures having porosities

  • This paper studies nonlinear stability behavior of a nanocrystalline silicon curved nanoshell considering strain gradient size-dependency. Nanocrystallines are composite materials with an interface phase and randomly distributed nano-size grains and pores. Imperfectness of the curved nanoshell has been defined based on an initial deflection. The formulation of nanocrystalline nanoshell has been established by thin shell theory and an analytical approach has been used in order to solve the buckling problem. For accurately describing the size effects related to nano-grains or nano-pores, their surface energies have been included. Nonlinear stability curves of the nanoshell are affected by the size of nano-grain, curvature radius and nano-pore volume fraction. It is found that increasing the nano-pore volume fraction results in lower buckling loads.

Property analysis of polysilane precursors and applications for polysilicon (폴리실란으로부터 생성한 폴리실리콘의 물성 분석과 응용)

  • Polysilane black powders were synthesized by sonochemical methods from silicon tetrachloride with sodium metal with 37.0% yield. Those black powder materials were found to have fibrous or irregular shapes with round surface. It was found that thermal behaviors of those polysilane black powders were similar to that of hydropolysilanes which was reported earlier. After thermal treatment, black polysilicon was obtained with 57.1% residue yield, and those fibrous or irregular shapes with round surface were intact but lots of small cavities were formed indicating porous structure, and found to be an amorphous state from XRD analysis.

  • Highly temperature stable mesoporous materials have excellent properties and potential applications. Here we show a novel poly(vinyl)silazane-block-polystyrene diblock copolymer, which was synthesized by controlled/living free radical polymerization with reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) route. The obtained diblock copolymer occurs the phaseseparation on the nanoscale to form ordered nanostructure, which is converted to mesoprorous ceramic after heating at 800oC. This route demonstrates the preparation of highly temperature stable mesoporous silicon carbon nitrides (SiCN) ceramic film directed from highly cross-linking poly(vinyl)silazane blocks with high ceramic yield, which is different from previous pathway.

  • 다공질 실리콘(PSi)의 형성방법중에 가장 주된 방식인 전기화학법은 매우 범용화된 기술이다. 이러한 전기화학법을 이용한 PSi 제작방식에 있어 HF 가 함유된 전해액과 첨가되는 첨가제는 PSi 형성에 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 전해액에 첨가되어지는 첨가재는 종류에 따라 전해질과 기판사이의 친수성 및 전해액의 표면장력을 작게 하는 역할을 하며, 그 밖의 기판 표면 상태변화의 원인으로서 양극산화 공정에 많은 변수로 작용한다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 에틸알콜을 함유한 HF 전해액과 새로운 용매를 함유한 HF 전해액에 대한 PSi의 형성을 광학 현미경 사진과 시간에 따른 전류 및 전압 특성 곡선으로 비교 분석하였으며, 기존 식각 용액을 사용했을 경우의 표면 식각현상과 형성구조의 불균일성 등을 해결할 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문은 마이크로머시닝 기술을 응용하여 다공질 실리콘 다이어프램을 제작하여 air, $N_2$, Ar 분위기에서 유리로 패키징하였다. 유리로 패키징된 소자들과 유리 패키징을 하지 않는 소자를 시간 경과에 따른 다공질 실리콘의 PL(Photoluminescence) 스펙트럼 (peak wavelength, intensity)과 저항 변화를 측정하였다. 또한, 패키징 분위기에 따른 다공질 실리콘의 aging 효과를 서로 비교하여 다공질 실리콘 다이어프램을 이용한 PIN 구조의 소자를 광센서로써 응용 가능성을 살펴보았다.

  • 본 논문에서는 다공질 실리콘에 대한 에탄올과 메탄을 가스 감지 특성을 측정하고 전기 전도도의 변화를 고찰하였다. 우선 HF와 에탄올의 혼합 용액내에서 n-type의 웨이퍼에 일정 전압을 인가하여 다공질 실리콘을 형성한다. 다공질 실리콘은 수직한 방향으로 $55{\sim}60{\mu}m$ 두께로 균일하게 형성되었다. 다공질 실리콘을 이용하여 소자를 제작하고 에탄올과 메탄올 가스를 주입하여 전류-전압 특성을 측정하였다. 기존의 다공질 실리콘 에탄올 센서와는 달리 turn-on 시 센서에 흐르는 전류가 빠른 시간내에 일정한 값으로 도달하였고 turn-off시에도 같은 결과를 보였다. 다공질 실리콘 표면에 흡착된 에탄올과 메탄올 가스는 전류의 흐름을 방해하는 surface charge를 스크린하여 전기 전도도를 증가시킨다. 또한 흡착된 가스가 dangling bonds를 passivation하여 전류를 증가시키는 것으로 생각된다.

  • As anodizing method using poly-Si (polycrystalline silicon) grown by LPCVD (Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition), a ballistic electron emitter was made. An OPPS (Oxidized Porous Poly-Si) structure can generate ballistic electron which can pass through without scattering owing to electric field of oxide layer wrapped around nanocrystal due to applied voltage of between surface and bottom electrode. As electrode, (Al, Au and Pt/ti) were used. In this case, there were the better characteristics in Al and Pt/ti than in Al and Au.

  • We have synthesized carbon nanotubes by thermal chemical vapor deposition of $C_2$H$_2$ on transition metal-coated silicon substrates. Carbon nanotubes are uniformly synthesized on a large area of the plain Si substrates, different from previously reported porous Si substrates. It is observed that surface modification of transition metals deposited on substrates by either etching with dipping in a HF solution and/or NH$_3$ pretreatment is a crucial step for the nanotube growth prior to the reaction of $C_2$H$_2$gas. We will demonstrate that the diameters of carbon naotubes can be controlled by applying the different transition metals.

  • The impact and spreading behaviors of silicon dioxide nanoparticle colloidal suspension droplets were quantitatively visualized using a high-speed imaging system. Millimeter-scale droplets were generated by a syringe pump and a needle. Droplets of different velocity were impacted on a non-porous solid surface. Images were consecutively recorded using a CMOS high-speed camera at 5000 fps (frames per second) for millimeter-scale droplets. Temporal variations of droplet diameter, velocity and maximum spreading diameters were evaluated from the sequential images captured for each experimental condition. Effects of Reynolds number, Weber number, and particle concentration were investigated experimentally.
