Influence of Mix Factors and Mixing Ratio of Aggregate on the Strength and Water Permeability of Porous Concrete (포러스 콘크리트의 배합요인 및 골재 혼합비율이 강도 및 투수성능에 미치는 영향)

  • Porous concrete having continuous voids is gaining more interest as an ecological material. It has several useful functions such as water and air permeability, sound absorption, etc. Its strengths are considerably lower than those of conventional concrete due to the large and continuous voids in it. This study has been carried out to investigate the influence of mix factors and mixture proportion of aggregate on the strengths and water permeability of porous concrete. And it has been carried out to investigate the evaluation of void of porous concrete by the ultra-sonic pulse velocity. The results f this study are as follows: 1) The theoretical void ratio has greater influence than any other factor on the strengths and water permeability of porous concrete. And it is a little affected by the replacement proportion of silica-fume and mixture proportion of aggregate. 2) Because the coefficients of correlation between the void ratio and ultra-sonic pulse velocity were relatively high, it will be possible that the void ratio is predicted by the ultra-sonic pulse velocity.

An Experimental Research on the Feature of the Porous Concrete (다공콘크리트의 특성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • We experimented the physical property of the porous concrete by changing the water cement ratio, when the aggregate ratios are 1:5 and 1:7 separately. And then we received the results as follows. The bigger, the coarse grading of the porous concrete is, the more sensitive to the water cement ratio, the porous concrete becomes. And if we think over its compressive strength, the coarse aggregate which has 5-15mm width is most appropriate. So we concluded that when its compressive strength, permeability coefficient and its unit weight are $50kg/cm^{2}3cm/sec$ and $1900kg/m^{3}$ respectively, the water cement ratio which has 35-37% width is most appropriate, too. And its compressive strength and unit weight show that they are about a quarter and three quarters respectively about the conventional concrete.

  • Recently, due to abnormal climate phenomena caused by greenhouse gas, flood damage such as local torrential rain has been emerging in Korea. Accordingly, there is a growing need for porous blocks capable of permeability in concrete, but there are limitations in commercialization due to problems such as high unit weight and flexural strength development limitations. This study investigates the unit weight and strength properties of porous blocks using bottom ash as an alternative to aggregate as part of a study to improve the light weight of porous blocks.

Planting-Ability Valuation of Porous Concrete Using Industrial By-Products (산업부산물을 이용한 포러스콘크리트의 식생능력평가)

  • Porous concrete enables water and air to pass through a firmly hardened material and allows required nutrients to reach roots of plants. The purpose of this study is to analyze void ratio, strength property and planting ability when using silica fume and fly ash, the change of aggregate gradation and ratio of paste to aggregate. The results of an experiment from the planting ability of the porous concrete to its influence on the compressive strength are reported in this paper. As a result of the experiment, the compressive strength is higher when the gradation of aggregate is smaller, and it also goes higher when the ratio of paste to aggregate gets larger. The planting ability of porous concrete is decided by the germination and the grass length of perennial ryegrass. The grass length of perennial ryegrass is longer when the gradation of aggregate is greater and the ratio of paste to aggregate gets smaller. Therefore the efficiency of planting goes through the perennial ryegrass is in compliance with the void ratio, aggregate gradation.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the physical properties of porous concrete according to the aggregate shape and size which is produced by con crusher and impact crusher. For this purpose, the selected test variables were the aggregate size and shape, the ratio of water to cement and the ratio of paste to aggregate. The results of this study showed that its economic performance and physical properties were improved using the aggregate made by impact crusher. The coefficient of permeability and compressive strength of porous concrete had a close correlationship with the void ratio, and it was suggested as a function of void ratio.

  • Porous concrete with a great deal of continuous porosity enables to contain water and to pass air freely through firmly hardened material, and allow necessary nutrients to reach roots of vegetation. Therefore, this paper deals with the voluntary properties and efficiency for planting of plant porous concrete. The results of experiment showed that void volumes were 17% to 31%, and compressive strength ranged between 80kgf/cm$^2$ and 180kgf/cm$^2$ when the ratio of the paste to aggregate was 0.3-0.5 When the aggregate size are 20-30mm, the paste to aggregate ratio is 0.3, and the length of Paranial Ryegress came up as 32cm. Ut supra the efficiency of planting goes through Paranial Ryegrass in result the length of plant are in compliance with void volume and aggregate size.

Mechanical Properties of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Porous Concrete for Planting

  • The mechanical properties of fiber reinforced porous concrete for use as a planting material were investigated in this study. Changes in physical and mechanical properties, subsequent to the addition of carbon fiber and silica fume, were studied. The effects of recycled aggregate were also evaluated. The applicability as planting work concrete material was also assessed. The results showed that there were no remarkable changes in the void and strength characteristics following the increase in proportion of recycled aggregate. Also, the mixture with 10% silica fume was found to be the most effective for strength enforcement. The highest flexural strength was obtained when the carbon fiber was added with $3\%$. It was also noticed that PAN-derived carbon fiber was superior to Pitch-derived ones in view of strength. The evaluation of its usage for vegetation showed that the growth of plants was directly affected by the existence of covering soil, in case of having the similar size of aggregate and void.

  • The results of an experiment on the sound absorption of the porous concrete and its influence on the compressive strength are reported in this paper. Two different sizes of coarse aggregate of 5~13, 13~20mm, and the design void ratio of 20, 25 and 30 percent for a given size of aggregate were used. In the compressive strength, an aggregate of the size of 5~13mm is much higher strength than that of the 13~20mm, In the sound absorption experiment, the size of aggregate of 5~l0mm is much higher sound absorption than that of the 13~20mm. The sound absorption ratio was increased as the design void ratio. As a result, Porous concrete sufficiently have the performance of sound absorption.

Settlement Behavior of Composition Ground Improved by Recycled-Aggregate Porous Concrete Pile (순환골재 다공질 콘크리트 말뚝에 의한 복합지반의 침하 거동)

  • The purpose of this research is to assess the application of recycled-aggregate that is gained from construction wastes as the material of compaction pile method. At the same time, the development of the new technique rectifies defects of the existing compaction pile method for soft ground improvement. In this research, model tests were conducted for analyzing the effect of the soft ground improvement by porous concrete pile using recycled aggregate. Through the results of the model tests, the behavior of settlement on composition ground with surcharge pressure were elucidated.

  • Recently, there has been for a number of reasons growing interest in the use of porous concrete, and it is used as an ecological material. But, because the valuation methods of the quality on the fresh porous concrete aren't established up till now, it is difficult that the harden porous concrete is made sure of its required quality. This study is to present the measurement method of the void ratio on the fresh porous concrete and to analyze the influence of water-cement ratio and vibrating time on the binder content covered a coarse aggregate. Results of this study were shown as follows; The measurement methods of the void ratio and aggregate-binder weight ratio on the fresh porous concrete can be useful as data for the quality control of fresh porous concrete.
