Thermal Distribution of Bi-Te Thermoelectric Module with the thickness of Polymer Sheet (고분자 필름의 두께변화에 따른 Bi-Te계 열전모듈의 열분포 특성)

  • In case of attaching thermoelectric module and heat source, the polymer sheet is attached on the $Al_2O_3$ plate, which is cooling side of thermoelectric module, in order to enhance mechanical safety of the system. It is impossible to calculate the exact distribution of temperature and flow pattern of inner gap of thermoelectric module. Therefore CFD analyses was executed to determine the thermo-fluid phenomena and distribution by Fluent. As the result of these analyses, heat transfer was dominated by conduction and the difference of temperature was linear distribution according to the thickness of polymer sheet.

  • The polymerization of 4, 4-bis(acetoxymethyl)-1, 6-heptadiyne (BAH) was carried out by MoCl5 and WCl6 with various organometallic cocatalysts. MoCl5-based catalysts were more effective than WCl6-based ones for the cyclopolymerization of BAH. Poly(BAH) was characterized to have polymer backbone with conjugated double bond and cyclic structure by IR, UV-visible, and 1H-and 13C NMR spectroscopies. The polymer was stable up to 310 ℃ and 5 % weight loss show up at 350 ℃. The resulting dark violet polymer exhibited good solubility in common organic solvents and could be cast on a glass plate to give film with good mechanical properties. It was found that oxygen permeability (PO2) and permselectivity (PO2/PN2) of the resulting polymer were 15.2 barrer and 2.84, respectively.

  • In this study, to predict the behavior of RC beam strengthened with Carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP) plate, analytical program considering material non-linearity is developed. Strain compatibility and force equilibrium are applied and internal forces of constitutive material are calculated using nonlinear stress-strain relationship. Also, to certainty the reliability of analytical program, deflection, strain of CFRP plate, change of neutral axis on cross section and crack distribution at failure are compared with those of experiment, and each results are almost coincident.

  • In this paper, we developed the inspection system of electric vehicle battery plate using image processing. Four cameras are used for acquiring the principal parts of the plate, and several steps of image processing for extracting significant dimensions of the plate such as widths and lengths. As a preceding step, calibration of four cameras is carried for compensating distorted images using dot-arrayed sheet. Coordinate systems for four cameras are defined where one coordinate system is assigned to the reference coordinate system to which the others are relatively described. Line information of the edge in the windowed image is extracted using elaborate edge-detection algorithm, and finally the intersection points between lines are extracted to calculate widths and lengths of the plate from which the error status of the battery plate is decided.

  • In repairing and reinforcing modem architecture, altering the features must be minimized. We concluded that inserting CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforcement Polymer) plate method is the most appropriate reinforcing method that minimize altering the features. This study focuses on the effect of reinforcement by inserting CFRP plate in the timber beam of the modem architecture's roof truss. We concluded that inserting CFRP plate method is highly influenced by its parent material, however, it is obvious that materials had reinforced by this method in general. We guess that this method is applicable to reinforcement in the modern architecture's roof truss in various ways.

Effects of binder type and heat treatment temperature on physical properties of a carbon composite bipolar plate for PEMFCs

  • This study investigated a developed process for producing a composite bipolar plate having excellent conductivity by using coal tar pitch and phenol resin as binders. We used a pressing method to prepare a compact of graphite powder mixed with binders. Resistivity of the impregnated compact was observed as heat treatment temperature was increased. It was observed that pore sizes of the GCTP samples increased as the heat treatment temperature increased. There was not a great difference between the flexural strengths of GCTP-IM and CPR-IM as the heat treatment temperature was increased. The resistivity of GPR700-IM, heat treated at $700^{\circ}C$ using phenolic resin as a binder, was $4829{\mu}{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ which was best value in this study. In addition, it is expected that with the appropriate selection of carbon powder and further optimization of process we can produce a composite bipolar plate which has excellent properties.

  • Graphite/polymer composite bipolar plates for PEMFC are successfully developed, and their typical properties are superior to commercially available ones. Thermal property of the developed bipolar plate was evaluated by dynamic mechanical analyzer, and the results were compared to commercial ones. The specimens were immersed into the deionized water bath at $80^{\circ}$... for 1500hrs to evaluate dimensional stability and durability. Dimension, weight of the specimens as well as extraction conductivity was measured as each 500hrs. Fully molded bipolar plates without any machining or milling were also prepared using a specially developed mold, and they were applied to the fuel cell performance test. Results were compared to the machined commercial bipolar plate.

  • This paper presents the results cf research on improved flexural performance cf reinforced concrete beams strengthened with bonded carbon fiber reinforced polymer plate. Recently, strengthening technique with CFRP plate were almost carried out by external bonding. But current external bonding technique cf CFRP plates may result in debonding CFRP plate. Therefore, this study proposes a strengthening method that prevents or delays debonding between CFRP plates and concrete and at the same time improves the strength. For this test, there were only 14 test beams manufactured and failure load, deflection, strains and modes cf failure have been examined Test variables included the type cf strengthening, steel ratio and strengthening length, and the effects according to each test variables were analyzed. The experimental results show that the strength and stiffness cf the beam significantly increased between 34.55 and 116.51% and the increase cf the more lead-carrying capacity than the control beams.
