오토클래이브양생에 의한 시멘트 혼화용 폴리머의 내구성 (Durability of Polymers for Cement Modifier in Autoclave Cure)

  • 본 연구는 폴리머 시멘트 모르타르 및 콘크리트에 오토클래이브양생을 적용하면 이들의 제성질은 폴리머의 종류에 크게 의존된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 시멘트 혼화용 폴리머 디스퍼전으로 제작된 폴리머 필름의 오토클래이브양생을 실시하여 그 내구성을 기초물성 및 적외 흡수 스펙트럼의 변화로부터 검토하였다. 그 결과 오토클래이브양생에 의해서 SBR 필름은 성능이 저하되지 않았지만, EVA 및 PAE 필름은 상당히 성능이 저하되었으므로 오토크래이브 양생을 적용하는 경우, SBR 혼입 폴리머 시멘트 모르타르 및 콘크리트는 성능이 저하되지 않았지만, EVA 및 PAE 혼입 폴리머 시멘트 모르타르 및 콘크리트는 폴리머의 비누화에 의해서 뚜렷하게 성능이 저하된다고 판단된다.

  • Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) is widely used in tire treads due to its excellent abrasion resistance, braking performance, and reasonable cost. Depending on the polymerization method, SBR is classified into solution-polymerized SBR (SSBR) and emulsion-polymerized SBR (ESBR). ESBR is less expensive and environmentally friendlier than SSBR because it uses water as a solvent. A higher molecular weight is also easier to obtain in ESBR, which has advantages in mechanical properties and tire performance. In ESBR polymerization, a surfactant is added to create an emulsion system with a hydrophobic monomer in the water phase. However, some amount of surfactant remains in the ESBR during coagulation, making the polymer chains in micelles clump together. As a result, it is well-known that residual surfactant adversely affects the physical properties of silica-filled ESBR compounds. However, researches about the effect of residual surfactant on the physical properties of ESBR are lacking. Therefore, in this study we compared the effects of remaining surfactant in ESBR on the mechanical properties of silica-filled and carbon black-filled compounds. The crosslinking density and filler-rubber interaction are also analyzed by using the Flory-Rehner theory and Kraus equation. In addition, the effects of surfactant on the mechanical properties and crosslinking density are compared with the effects of TDAE oil (a conventional processing aid).

  • 음이온계 유화제를 사용하여 monomer pre-emulsion을 제조한 다음 ammonium persulfate를 개시제로 하여 단계 중합법에 의해 새로운 입자의 생성이 적고 중합 과정에서 안정성이 우수한 poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA)/polystyrene (PSt) 라텍스를 제조하였다. 본 연구에서는 shell 중합시에 새로운 입자의 생성이 적고 중합 중 안정성이 우수한 라텍스를 제조하기 위해 개시제농도, 유화제농도, 중합온도가 PMMA/PSt와 PSt/PMMA의 core-shell 구조에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 중합한 라텍스를 입도분석기 (particle size analyzer: PSA) 및 투과전자현미경(transmission electron microscope; TEM)을 이용하여 실제 입자측정과 입자형태 특성을 확인하였으며 시차주사열량계 (differential scanning calorimeter, DSC)를 이용하여 유리전이온도($T_g$)의 측정, 필름 조막성 (minimum film formation temperature: MFFT), NaOH 첨가에 의한 가수 분해에 따르는 pH를 측정하여 core-shell의 또 다른 특성을 확인하였다.

Core-Shell Poly(Styrene/Sulfonated N-hydroxy Ethyl Aniline) Latex Particles Prepared by Chemical Oxidative Polymerization in Emulsion Polymerization

  • The kinetic behavior of emulsion polymerizations of styrene in the presence of sulfonated N-hydroxy ethyl aniline (SHEA) was investigated with two initiators: 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) and potassium persulfate (KPS). SHEA was synthesized using a stepwise polyurethane reaction method from 3-hydroxy-1-propane sulfonic acid sodium salt, isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), and N-(2-hydroxyethyl) aniline. Stable core-shell poly(styrene/sulfonated N-hydroxy ethyl aniline, St/SHEA) latex particles were successfully prepared by using an appropriate amount of AIBN, in which SHEA plays the role of 'surfmer', i.e., acting as both a surfactant in the emulsion polymerization and a monomer in the chemical oxidative polymerization. The kinetic behavior was dissimilar to that of typical emulsion polymerization systems. A long inhibition period and low rate of polymerization were observed due to radical loss by the oxidative polymerization of SHEA. It was concluded, due to the low water-solubility of AIBN and retardation reaction by SHEA, that the initial loci of polymerization were monomer droplets. However, growing polymer particles as polymerization loci became predominant as polymerization proceeded. It was suggested that AIBN was more effective than KPS in the preparation of the core-shell type poly(St/SHEA) latex particles. With KPS, no substantial polymerization was observed in any of the samples.

  • Poly(oxypropylene-oxyethylene glycol) block copolymer(PBC) oil dispersant, which has low toxicity, high biodegradability, and an excellent dispersion efficiency to crude oils and weathered W/O emulsion was prepared by blending PBC, poly(oxyethylene) oleate, and sorbitan monooleate. The dispersing efficiency was measured by swirling flask method. The PBC oil dispersant had an excellent dispersing efficiency to weathered oil products formed as stable W/O emulsion, and the low toxicity, such as 4000 ppm to Oryzias Latipes(24 hr, TLM), Brine Shrimp Artemia(24 hr, TLM).

  • Monodisperse micron-sized polystyrene (PS) spheres were successfully obtained using a single stage soap-free emulsion method in aqueous media mixed with ethanol (co-solvent) containing NaCI as the electrolyte. The optimum conditions for preparing the monodisperse PS microspheres, using soap-free emulsion polymerization in a water/ethanol mixture with an electrolyte, were studied. The presence of the co-solvent and electrolyte controlled the particle dispersion stability during the polymerization. The microspheres formed using PS, with a weight-average diameter of $2.6{\mu}m$, coefficient of variation of 5.3% and zeta potential of -15.1 eV, were successfully obtained in the presence of 0.1 wt% NaCI, 10 wt% monomer, 0.1 wt% initiator and 95/5 (g/g) of a water/ethanol mixture reacted at $70^{\circ}C$ for 24 h.

  • 전도성고분자 polyaniline(PANI)의 구조 변화없이 전기전도도를 띠면서 가공성과 기계적 특성을 증가시키는 연구를 수행하였다. 기능성 산으로 도핑된 PANI-DBSA는 유화 중합하였고, dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid(DBSA)는 계면활성제와 도펀트 역할을 동시에 하도록 하였다. 이어서 PANI-DBSA를 high impact polystyrene(HIPS)와 용액 캐스팅하여 블렌드 필름을 제조하였다. UV-vis, FTIR/ATR 분광법으로 블렌드 구조와 전기적 특성을 확인하였다. PANI-DBSA/HIPS 블렌드에 관한 연구는 분산성과 모폴로지 변화에 따른 기계적인 특성과 전기적 특성 확인에 중점을 두고 진행하였다. 전기전도도는 PANI-DBSA 함량 증가에 따라 상승하였고, 9 wt% 정도로 낮은 함량에서도 $3.5{\times}10^{-4}$ S/cm로 급격하게 상승하였다. 전도성고분자 블렌드에서 연속적인 고분자 망상구조 형성이 percolation과 전기전도도에 밀접한 연관성이 있었다.

Comparison of SBR/BR Blend Compound and ESBR Copolymer Having Same Butadiene Contents

  • The rapid development of the automobile industry is an important factor that led to the dramatic development of synthetic rubber. The tread part of tire that comes in direct contact with the road surface is related to the service life of the tire. Rubber compounds used in tire treads are often blended with SBR (styrene-butadiene rubber) and BR (butadiene rubber) to satisfy physical property requirements. However, when two or more kinds of rubber are blended, phase separation and silica dispersion problems may occur due to non-uniform mixing of the rubber. Therefore, in this study, we synthesized an SBR copolymer with the same composition as that of a typical SBR/BR blend compound by controlling butadiene content during ESBR (emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber) synthesis. Subsequently, silica filled compounds were manufactured using the synthesized ESBR, and their mechanical properties, dynamic viscoelasticity, and crosslinking density were compared with those of the SBR/BR blended compound. When the content of butadiene was increased in the silica filled compound, the cure rate accelerated due to an increased number of allylic positions, which typically exhibit higher reactivity. However, the T-2 compound with increased butadiene content by synthesis less likely to show an increase in crosslink density due to poor silica dispersion. In addition, the T-3 compound containing high cis BR content showed high crosslink density due to its monosulfide crosslinking structure. Because of the phase separation, SBR/BR blend compounds were easily broken and showed similar $M_{100%}$ and $M_{300%}$ values as those of other compounds despite their high crosslink density. However, the developed blend showed excellent abrasion resistance due to the high cis-1,4 butadiene content and low rolling resistance due to the high crosslink density.

  • In this study, gemcitabine-loaded methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(L-lactide) (MPEG-PLLA) microparticles with different PEG block lengths were prepared by a W/O/W double emulsion technique. The present study focuses on the investigation of the influence of various preparative parameters such as the ratio of internal water phase and oil phase, polymer concentration, solvent composition of organic phase and salt concentration of external water phase on the morphology and encapsulation efficiency of the microparticles. The microparticles fabricated at high volume ratios of internal water phase to oil phase and at high polymer concentrations showed a relatively high encapsulation efficiency and low porosity. When a dichloromethane/ethyl acetate mixture was used as solvent, both the encapsulation efficiency and drug loading of the microparticles decreased as the level of ethyl acetate increased. The addition of a salt (NaCl) to the external water phase significantly improved the encapsulation efficiency up to 40%, and the microparticles became more spherical with their size and porosity decreased.

  • 아크릴계 에멀젼의 내수성 및 촉감을 향상시키기 위해 유연하고 낮은 표면에너지를 가지는 실록산 단량체 및 올리고머와의 공중합체를 제조하였다. 아크릴 작용기를 갖는 실록산 단량체와 올리고머를 합성하고, n-butyl acrylate와 methyl methacrylate를 사용하여 실록산 함유 아크릴 삼원공중합체를 제조하고 표면자유에너지의 변화 및 점착특성을 조사하였다. 삼원공중합체의 Tg는 실록산 단량체의 주입 양이 증가함에 따라 감소하였으나, 올리고머의 경우는 양 말단의 아크릴기에 의해 가교반응이 일어남으로써 삼원 공중합체의 Tg는 증가하였다. 실리콘 단량체와 올리고머를 첨가함에 따라 tack 값과 표면에너지가 감소하는 것으로 내수성 및 촉감이 향상된 것을 확인하였다
