This review paper provides a detailed analysis of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottle recycling in Japan. Japan is a global leader in PET bottle recycling due to its advanced regulatory framework and proactive industry initiatives. Japan's success attributes to the widespread adoption of bottle-to-bottle recycling, driven by the beverage industry's commitment to sustainability. By utilizing post-consumer PET bottle recovery and food-grade mechanical recycling technologies, Japan has achieved significant milestones in PET bottle recycling. This paper examines regulatory frameworks, collection systems, reprocessing facilities, and food safety assessments to highlight Japan's innovative approaches to PET bottle recycling and their impact on global sustainability efforts. Drawing parallels with Korea's early stages of PET recycling, it suggests involving major beverage companies and re-evaluating regulations to promote bottle-to-bottle recycling. The focus is on the implications for Korea to promote circular economy principles in plastic recycling.

In this study, we introduce indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films grown by using a low-frequency magnetron sputtering method (LFMSM). Characteristics of the ITO thin films deposited on polyethersulfone (PES) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates are investigated. Experiments were carried out as a function of deposition time. ITO thin films on polymer substrates revealed amorphous structure. The optical, the electrical and structural properties of the films on PES substrate are better than those on PET substrates.
In order to obtain tasic information for solvent dyeing, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films was pretreated with water, tetrachloroethylene (TCE) and water/TCE emulsion for three hours at $140^{\circ}C$ for stabilizing the substrate. By film roll cyliderical method, Disperse Red 60, Disperse Yellow 42, and Disperse Blue 27 were diffused in the films and examined dyeing properties. The results are summarized as follows; 1) Diffusion coefficient increases in the order, waterTCE>water/TCE 2) A linear relationship between diffusion coefficient and shrinkage was Observed 3) The temperature dependence of the diffusion coefficient can't be expressed by WLF equation.
Previous studies demonstrated that laser ablation under transparent liquid can result in ablation enhancement and particle removal from the surface. Although the ablation enhancement by liquid is already known for semiconductor and metal, the phenomena of polymer ablation have not been studied. In this work, tile liquid-assisted excimer laser ablation process is examined for polymer materials, such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) with emphasis on ablation enhancement and surface topography. In the case of PET and PMMA, the effect of liquid is analyzed both for thin water film and bulk water. The results show that application of liquid increases the ablation rate of PMMA while that of PET remains unchanged even in the liquid-assisted process. However, the surface roughness is generally deteriorated in the liquid-assisted process. The surface topography is found to be strongly dependent on the method of liquid application, i.e., thin film or bulk liquid.
Previous studies demonstrated that laser ablation under transparent liquid can result in ablation enhacement and particle removal from the surface. In this work, the liquid-assisted excimer laser ablation process is examined fer polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), Si, and alumina with emphasis on ablation enhacement, surface topography, and debris formation. In the case of PET and PMMA, the effect of liquid is analyzed both fer thin water film and bulk water. As the ablation enhanement by liquid is already known for Si and alumina, the analysis focuses on surface topography and debris formation resulting from the liquid-assisted laser ablation process. The results show that application of liquid increases the ablation rate of PMMA while that of PET remains unchanged even in the liquid-assisted process. It is also revealed that the liquid can significantly improve the surface quality by reducing the debris deposition. However, the surface roughness is generally deteriorated in the liquid-assisted process. The surface toporaphy is found to be strongly dependent on the method of liquid application, i.e., thin film or bulk liquid.

High performance resistive type touch panel was fabricated on flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates coated with Al- and Ga-codoped ZnO (AGZO) films. The AGZO films were deposited by roll-to-roll direct current magnetron sputter at room temperature. The AGZO thin films on PET substrates showed high transparency (> 85 % at 550 nm) and low sheet resistance (450 ${\Omega}$/sq.). These values were similar to those of commercial ITO films used for resistive type touch panel.

A possibility of manufacturing bendable ac-PDP using aluminum electrode with anodic aluminum oxide dielectric material system on PET film substrate was explored. For this structure, PET film with fence-structured aluminum electrodes was used for front plate and PET film with barrier ribs of UV curable resin for the rear plate. The results demonstrate that it is feasible to manufacture the bendable ac-PDPs using those material system and are expected to expand the applications of plasma display panels.
Dry processes like evaporation and sputtering in vacuum chamber are difficult to make a uniform, large area and high quality film on thin PET substrate because of PET degradation and bad adhesion. On the other hand, wet processes like electro or electroless plating have complex processes and require high environmental cost. In this study, we successfully prepared $2{\mu}m$ Zn/Cu/Ni multilayers coated on $12{\mu}m$ polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate by using dry-wet mixing processes. Their surface electric resistances were evaluated around $0.2{\Omega}$ by using 4 probe measurements. Furthermore, their corrosion resistance also evaluated by natural potential test and compared with other wet, dry and mixing process samples.
