  • In this paper, tunable transconductor shows good linearity over a wide input voltage range are proposed. The proposed transconductor employ operating in the nonsaturation(ie., linear) region to improve circuit simplicity and tunability and 6.8V$\_$p-p/ wide input range. Also the circuit employ source-coupled differential pair to provide true differential input and can achieve both positive and negative transconductance values. The proposed circuits are implemented using a 1.2 $\mu\textrm{m}$ single poly double metal n-well CMOS technology. The THD characteristic of proposed circuit is less than 1% for a differential input voltage of up to 6V$\^$p-p/ when supply bias condition is V$\_$DD/=-V$\_$ss/=5V, I$\_$B/=20, 40${\mu}$A, and frequency of input signal is 1KHz.

  • The performances of proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC), direct formic acid fuel cell (DFAFC) and direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) with sulfonated poly(ether sulfone) membrane are reported. Pt/C was coated on the membrane directly to fabricate a MEA for PEMFC operation. A single cell test was carried out using $H_2/air$ gases as fuel and oxidant. A current density of $730\;mA/cm^2$ at 0.60 V was obtained at $70^{\circ}C$. Pt-Ru (anode) and Pt (cathode) were coated on the membrane for DMFC operations. It produced $83\;mW/cm^2$ of maximum power density. The sulfonated poly(ether sulfone) membrane was also used for DFAFC operation under several different conditions. It showed good cell performances for several different kinds of polymer electrolyte fuel cell applications.

  • Polycrystalline silicon(poly-Si) films are deposited on low temperature glass substrate by Hot-Wire CVD(HWCVD). The structural properties of the poly-Si films are strongly dependent on the wire temperature($T_w$). The films deposited at high $T_w$ of 2000$^{\circ}C$ have superior crystalline properties; average lateral grain sizes are larger than $1{\mu}m$ and there at·e no vertical grain boundaries. The surface of the high $T_w$ samples are naturally textured like pyramid shape. These large grain size and textured surface are believed to give high current density when applied to solar cells. However, the poly-si films are structurally porous and contains high defect density, by which high concentration of C and O resulted within the films by air-penetration after removed from chamber.

  • A new alginate lyase gene of marine bacterium Streptomyces sp. M3 had been previously cloned in pColdI vector and transformed into E. coli BL21 (DE3). In this study, M3 lyase protein without signal peptide was overexpressed by induction with IPTG and purified with Ni-Sepharose affinity chromatography. The absorbance at 235 nm of the reaction mixture and TLC analysis showed that M3 alginate lyase was a polyG-specific lyase. When M3 lyase was assayed with substrate for 10 min, optimum pH and optimum temperature were pH 9 and $60^{\circ}C$. For the effect of 1mM metal ion on M3 lyase activity, $Ca^{++}$ and $Mn^{++}$ ions increased the alginate degrading activity by two-fold, whereas $Hg^{++}$ and $Zn^{++}$ ions inhibited the lyase activity completely. $Mg^{++}$, $Co^{++}$, $Na^+$, $K^+$, and $Ba^{++}$ did not show any strong effects on alginate lyase activity.

  • Poly(trimethylene terephthalate)(PTT) and Poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) fibers were annealed at various temperatures ranging from $100^\circ{C}$ to $230^\circ{C}$ for 10 min under tension and tension free. Dyeing rates and absorption isotherms of both fibers were obtained with C.I. Disperse Red 60 at 100, 120 and $130^\circ{C}$ in water system. Also X-ray diffraction pattern, moisture regain and water absorption were investigated. The dyeing rate of PTT fiber is faster than PET fiber, and dyeing of PTT fiber begin at lower temperature compared to PET fiber. The absorption isotherms from both fibers with disperse dye we nearly linear up to the saturation dye uptake, which increase with dyeing temperature. Equilibrium dye uptake of PTT fiber annealed under tension above $180^\circ{C}$ was remarkably decreased because of a changes in the fine structure of fiber. The intensities of X-ray diffraction peaks of both annealed fibers were increased with increasing in annealed temperature. The reflections observed at $2\theta$=$15.8^\circ$, $24^\circ$ and $25.2^\circ$ were assigned reflection of crystal at the planes of (010), $(1\bar02,\;\bar112),\;and\;(\bar13,\; \bar113)$ respectively, and the peak became sharp with heat setting temperature.

  • Three kinds of macro-reticular bead-typed chelating resins having thiol groups were obtained from basic resins like poly(strene-co-divinylbenzene) (PSD) and poly(styrene-co-methyl methacrylate-co-divinylbenzene) (PSMD): the chelating resin (I) was prepared by chloromethylation of phenyl rings of PSD followed by thiolation using thiourea. The chelating resin (ll) was designed to provide enough space to chelate heavy metal ions; one chloromethyl group was obtained by chlorination of hydroxymethyl group provided by reduction of carboxylic ester group of PSMD and another chloromethyl group was obtained by direct chloromethylation of pendent phenyl group using chloromethyl methyl ether. Both of chloromethyl groups were thiolated by using thiourea. The chelating resin (III) was prepared by chlorosulfonation of phenyl rings of PSD followed by thiolation using sodium hydrosulfide. The adsorbtivity toward heavy metal ions was evaluated. The hydrophobic chelating resin (I) with thiol groups showed highly selective adsorption capacity f3r mercury ions. However, the chelating resin (II) with thiol groups showed mere effective adsorption capacity toward mercury ions than chelating resin (I) with thiol groups, and showed some adsorption capacity for other heavy metal ions like Cu$\^$2+/, Pb$\^$2+/, Cd$\^$2+/ and Cr$\^$3+/. On the other hand, the chelating resin (III) which have hydrophilic thiosulfonic acid groups was found to be effective adsorbents for some heavy metal ions such as Hg$\^$2+/, Cu$\^$2+/, Ni$\^$2+/, Co$\^$2+/, Cr$\^$3+/ and especially Cd$\^$2+/ and Pb$\^$2+/.

  • Poly(DL-lactide-co-glycolide) (80:20) was synthesized from DL-lactide and glycolide, and the copolymers was made to micelles containing clonazepam for drug delivery system. The release experiments of the drug from micelles were operated at pH 7.4 phosphate buffer solution $37.0{\pm}0.05^{\circ}C$. The linearly-releasing time ranges of the drug from micelles prepared with the copolymer/drug weight ratio of 20:40, 20:20, and 40:20 (mg) were 50, 41, and 29 days, respectively. So the linearly-releasing time of drug showed the order of micelles 20/40 > micelles 20/20 > micelles 40/20. In short, the formulation allows polymeric micelles to suppress the burst effect of the drug release mechanism, which led to the controlled release pattern and the possibility of drug delivery system for veinous injection.

  • Each of the three cationized compounds synthesized previously, poly(OMA-co-DAMA)[PODC], poly(DMA-co-DAMA)[PDDC] and poly(EMA-co-DAMA)[PEDC] was blended with waxes, emulsifiers and cationized fatty carbamide(ODTCC) synthesized in this study for the preparation of some durable softening water-repellenting agents, PODCW, PDDCW and PEDCW. The results of washability, tearing strength, crease recovery and contact angle of the cotton fabrics treated with PODCW, PDDCW and PEDCW with and without textile finishing resin, showed remarkable improvement of the physical properties. Rating of water repellency of cotton fabric treated with PODCW was 80, but those treated with PDDCW and PEDCW were not high enough to use in industry. Proper curing temperature of the synthesized water-repelleting agents was $140^{\circ}C$; proper using concentration was 3wt%; sodium acetate was the best catalyst for water-repellenting agents among the used, and proper concentration was 0.6wt%. From the results of reaction mechanism of cellulosic fiber with water-repellenting agent and washability of the fibers treated with water-repellenting agents the prepared water-repellenting agent proved to be durable. Surface structures of cotton fabrics treated with water-repellenting agent were investigated by SEM.

  • In this study, we synthesized a series of dendritic polystyrene-b-linear poly (t-butyl acrylate) copolymers with well-defined molecular architectures. The hydroxyl group located at the focal point of the second generation dendron bearing polystyrene ($M_n$ = 1000 g/mol) peripheries was converted into amine group via the following stepwise reactions: 1) tosylatoin, 2) azidation, and 3) reduction. On the other hand, the linear poly (t-butyl acrylate)s were prepared by an atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of t-butyl acrylate where benzyl 2-bromopropanoate and Cu(I)Br/PMDETA were used as initiator and catalyst, respectively. To convert the end group of prepared poly (t-butyl acrylate) s into carboxylic acid, a debenzylation was performed using Pd/C catalyst under $H_2$ atmosphere. In the final step, dendritic-linear block copolymers were obtained through a simple amide coupling reaction mediated by 4-(dimethylamino) pyridine(DMAP) and N,N'-diisopropylcarbodiimide(DIPC). The resulting diblock copolymers were shown to have well-defined molecular weights and narrow molecular weight distributions as supported by $^1H$-NMR spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography(GPC).
