The Effects of Media Literacy Education and its Influence on Digital Citizenship: Focusing on CMF Education Programs in Korea

  • Purpose This study aims to measure the effects of media literacy education through the social science method and find out the impact of media literacy education on digital citizenship in Korea and its implications for the development of democracy. Design/methodology/approach This study used an independent t-test to analyze relativeness between media literacy education and media literacy factors. We also adopted an independent t-test to investigate media literacy influence on digital citizenship. Furthermore, we found out age differences using 'the one-way analysis of variance (the one-way ANOVA)'. Findings We have found four media literacy factors, MC, CT, C&P, R&R, have been significantly affected by media literacy education. We have also pulled out three digital citizenship factors, IPA, TS, and CP, involved in media literacy education. Moreover, we have analyzed our survey by different age groups. The lower the age, the higher the TS. CP was highest among those from 30 to 59, followed by those under the 30s.

  • 미국에서는 소수의 전문가에게 정치적 이해관계가 첨예하게 얽혀 있는 문제의 결정을 전적으로 위임하지 않고, 주민이 직접 주 교육위원회나 지역 교육위원회의 구성원으로 참여할 수 있는 미국의 교육정책결정 및 집행과정은 다양한 교육주체 간에 이견이나 법령해석 차이 등으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 갈등과 분쟁을 사전에 예방하는 역할을 수행했다고 추정할 수 있다. 이러한 미국의 합의제는 현재 교육감 1인에게 과도하게 좌우되어 다양한 교육주체 간의 갈등이 발생하고 있는 우리나라 지방교육행정체제에 대한 보완점을 시사하는 것이다.

  • 이 논문은 지리의 핵심개념 중의 하나인 공간에 대한 담론을 고찰한 후, 공간에 대한 비판적 읽기를 위한 교육으로서 지리교육을 주장한다. 최근 지리학과 비판교육학에서는 공간을 공간 과학의 관점에서 물리적이고 물질적인 것으로 정의하던 차원에서 벗어나, 공간의 사회성과 역사성을 강조하면서 공간은 사회적으로 구성된 것임을 강조한다. 따라서 공간은 더 이상 사회적 관계가 단순히 기록되는 단순한 그릇이 아니라, 다양한 의미들이 서로 경합하고 갈등하면서 사회적 관계가 생산되고 재생산되는 것으로 인식된다. 이제 지리교육은 공간이 개념화되는 상이한 방식을 검토하고, 다중적이고 경쟁적인 공간의 본질을 독해하는데 초점을 둔 공간에 대한 비판지리교육을 발전시켜야 하는 도전에 직면하게 된다.

환경행정전문가 양성을 위한 사회교육적 접근 (A Social Study Approach to Education for Environmental Administration Specialists)

  • Environmental professional education in Korea has been mostly concentrated on the scientific and technological approaches to environmental problems. Many undergraduate majors in environmental engineering or sciences are designed to produce more technical manpowers in environmental fields. Most graduate schools on the environment also place an emphasis on teaching the technical aspects of environmental problems. Some environmental administration related courses, such as environmental law, environmental administration, environmental policy, environmental economics, environmental impact assessments, etc. are partically reflected in some curricula of very limited graduate or undergraduate environment majors. However, teaching environmental administration related courses in science or engineering major institutions has not been successfully carried out so far because lack of interests in such courses by most students and the shortage of competent teachers as well. Furthermore, those courses are not widely accepted by the departments of law, political science, public administration, etc. because their major interests are not in the environment-oriented. Environmental problems cannot be solved by the technical approach along. They should be systematically dealt with through interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary approaches, including natural and social sciences covering all relevant disciplines. in this respect, undergraduate environmental education should preferably cover broader courses on the environment, and the education for environmental professionals, including environmental administration specialists, is preferably handled by graduate schools offering many specialty area courses. Education for environmental administration specialist at graduate level is urgently needed in order to supply the competent manpower at government, business, and private organization levels dealing with environmental administration related problem. This is a new challenging area and the education for such specialists will become more important in the near future than technical manpowers which we ate now concentrating on their education.

학교 급식관리 및 영양교육에 대한 행정담당자 및 영양사의 의식 실태 조사 연구 (A Study on Consciousness of Administrator and Dietitian for School Food - Service Management and Nutritional Education)

  • School food service must be operated as the part of the education. But it seems that it is not to be considered as an important educational field from the perspective of educational administration. This study was conducted to suggest the effective plan to improve the quality of the school food service system. Questionaries were distributed to 51 administrators and 85 dieticians of primary schools in Incheon area from Aug 7th to Aug 31st 2000. Drawbacks of school food service system cited from the survey results were insufficient support from the authorities both in policy and in budget and shortage of specialists for food service administration. Both dieticians and administrators acknowledged that available facilities required for the school food service were insufficient. 85.9% of dietition and 51.0% of administrators thought dietition of school food service to be suitable for nutrition education. For effective nutrition education, they suggest to have teachers taking in charge of nutrition education, to have teaching system related with school food service and to develope visual auditorial teaching material. For improvement of the quality of school food service, it is necessary to acquire sufficient budget and political support from the government and to have specialists for food service administration. And regulations promoting dieticians to be teachers of nutrition education is required to be introduced in the near future.

쿠웨이트 교육의 실태와 정체성에 대한 비교 연구 (A Comparative and Idiographic Study on Kuwait Education)

  • 본 연구는 21세기 지식경제사회에 쿠웨이트 교육의 실태와 특징을 분석하여 쿠웨이트 교육발전의 문제점 한계점을 검토하고, 이를 바탕으로 쿠웨이트 교육은 앞으로 어떤 방향으로 갈 수 있는지, 쿠웨이트 교육의 발전을 위한 필요조치들과 이후 교육정책의 수립에 필요한 정책발전 방향에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 연구 목적을 달성하기 위하여 본 연구는 교육의 3요소라는 교사 학생 교육내용(교육과정, 교과서, 교육시설설비), 학교 자체의 성격, 학교의 대외관계, 그리고 정치적 가치로서 교육기회에 대해 경제적, 정치적, 교육적, 국제적 측면에서 비교연구적 접근과 개성기술적 접근을 통해 쿠웨이트 교육의 실태와 문제점을 분석 검토 하였다. 마지막으로 쿠웨이트 교육 개발을 위한 제언 그리고 세계교육발전에 주는 시사점을 정리해서 제시하였다.

  • This analysis of the history and programs of family education centers (Familienbildungsst${\ddot{a}}$tte) in Germany generated suggestions for designing Korean family life education programs. Familienbildungsst${\ddot{a}}$tte started around 1900 and changed over time due to varying social and political situations. Rapid social change and the sudden economic crash in Korea produced many family problems, such as broken families and family related conflict. As the Korean family can no longer provide traditional psychological and economic support, some social institution is required to provide intervention and encouragement to both special needs families and normal families. This study generated suggestions for designing and managing Korean family life social centers.

대학생의 건강수준 향상을 위한 포괄적 건강증진 정책 방안 (Development of Comprehensive Health Promotion Policies for University Students)

  • Objectives: The purposes of this study were to describe comprehensive health promotion policies for university students in Korea and to discuss the implications based on the socio-ecological approaches. Methods: A web-based search was performed to identify empirical programs and literature to develop health promotion policies and strategies in university settings. Results: Five domains for policy development are suggested for comprehensive health promotion policies in universities: evidence-based policy development; establishment of supportive policy through network and partnership; infrastructure of university; systems approach with education, environment, enforcement and policy tailored for universities; and sustainability for policy implementation. Conclusions: For healthy universities and students, government, community, health professionals, organizations and universities are all responsible as main agents for the five domains suggested in this study. Multi-level approaches with political, organizational and environmental changes should be sustained as an ongoing process.

한국 간호학문에서의 페미니즘 (Feminism in Nursing Science in Korea)

  • Purpose: Although feminism has been actively discussed and applied to nursing in Western societies since the 1980s, it is little known among Korean scholars as well as Korean nurses. This article explores the use of feminist perspectives in nursing science in other developed countries and suggests how feminism could be applied to nursing science in Korea. Method: The literature related to nursing and feminism were reviewed in terms of nursing practice, education, and research. Result: This article describes what feminism is and how feminism and nursing have evolved historically over time in other countries, especially in Western societies. In addition, it discusses how it can be applied to nursing practice, education, and research in Korea. Conclusion: Accepting feminist perspective in Korean nursing could benefit in empowering nurses by valuing nursing, by raising self-esteem of nurses, and by raising the consciousness of socio-political realities. Eventually it could benefit in changing and developing nursing science in Korea.

  • 오늘날 일본의 건강상황을 건강지표 등으로 평가하면 상당히 개선되어, 평균수명은 남성이 77.19세, 여성이 83.32세로 장수국가가 되었다. 65세 이상이 인구의 15.7%(1997)를 차지하는 고령화 사회에서 앞으로는 단지 질병이나 장애를 방지하고 장수하는 것만이 아니라, 더욱 충실한 인생을 보낼 수 있는 quality of life를 염두에 두지 않으면 안 된다. 따라서, 여기서는 생활의 질을 높이기 위해서 일본에서 행하여지고 있는 지역의 건강증진 사업을 중심으로 검토하려고 한다.
