During orthodontic treatment, formation of white spot lesions (WSLs) around brackets has long been recognized as a potential risk. This study performed to investigate effect of preventing enamel demineralization and remineralization by application of fluoride-containing orthodontic primer. Fifty extracted bovine incisors teeth were randomly allocated to 3 groups: (I) Non-preparation specimens, (II) Application of Light Bond$^{TM}$ as fluoride containing orthodontic primer, (III) Application of Transbond$^{TM}$ XT Primer as traditional orthodontic primer without fluoride. Each group is demineralized under artificial carious solution. The demineralization pattern was evaluated using a Q-ray view, Vickers hardness test and polarized light microscope. The remained primer was calculated as 35 - 50%. The highest surface microhardness was shown on Light Bond$^{TM}$ surface. There were statistically significant differences in Vickers microhardness number between adjacent areas of Light Bond$^{TM}$ and non-prepared area. There was almost no demineralization of the enamel surface under the Light Bond$^{TM}$. At the adjacent site of Light Bond$^{TM}$, the shallow caries pattern and remineralization appearance were also observed. These results suggest that the use of fluoride-containing primers may be useful for bracket attachment to reduce enamel demineralization during orthodontic treatment.
Cancer cells grow in an environment composed of various components that supports tumor growth. Major cell types in the tumor microenvironment are fibroblast, endothelial cells and immune cells. All of these cells communicate with cancer cells. Among infiltrating immune cells as an abundant component of solid tumors, macrophages are a major component of the tumor microenvironment and orchestrates various aspects of immunity. The complex balance between pro-tumoral and anti-tumoral effects of immune cell infiltration can create a chronic inflammatory microenvironment essential for tumor growth and progression. Macrophages express different functional programs in response to microenvironmental signals, defined as M1 and M2 polarization. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAM) secret many cytokines, chemokines and proteases, which also promote tumor angiogenesis, growth, metastasis and immunosuppression. TAM have multifaceted roles in the development of many tumor types. TAM also interact with cancer stem cells. This interaction leads to tumorigenesis, metastasis, and drug resistance. TAM obtain various immunosuppressive functions to maintain the tumor microenvironment. TAM are characterized by their heterogeneity and plasticity, as they can be functionally reprogrammed to polarized phenotypes by exposure to cancer-related factors, stromal factors, infections, or even drug interventions. Because TAMs produce tumor-specific chemokines by the stimulation of stromal factors, chemokines might serve as biomarkers that reflect disease activity. The evidence has shown that cancer tissues with high infiltration of TAM are associated with poor patient prognosis and resistance to therapies. Targeting of TAM in tumors is considered a promising therapeutic strategy for anti-cancer treatment.

The infinite dilution activity coefficients(${\gamma}{\infty}$) of nonpolar and polar solutes have been determined in different solvents at temperature between 60 and $100^{\circ}C$ by using gas chromatography. The $ln{\gamma}{\infty}$ values of nonpolar solutes(alkanes, cyclohexane, benzene, toluene and $CCl_4$) were linearly increased as 1/T in the nonpolar solvent (n-octadecane) and the polar solvent(n-hexadecyl alcohol) systems and the $ln{\gamma}{\infty}$ values at the constant temperature were increased with the number of carbon atoms of solute molecule. For the polar solutes(alcohols, esters and ketones) and the weak polar solvent(di-2-ethyl adiphate and di-2-ethylhexyl sebacate) systems, the relations of $ln{\gamma}{\infty}$ vs. 1/T were found to be curved with increased slope, and the $ln{\gamma}{\infty}$ values at constant temperature were linearly diminished as increasing the number of carbon atoms of solute molecule. For the polar solutes(alcohols, esters and ketones) and the strong polar solvents(triphenyl phosphate and tricresyl phosphate)systems, the relations of $ln{\gamma}{\infty}$ vs. 1/T were found to be curved with increased slope but $ln{\gamma}{\infty}$ values at constant temperature were linearly increased as increasing the number of carbon atoms of solute molecule.

The objective of this in vitro study was to monitor the amount of remineralization of decalcified enamel according to the number of fluoride varnish application using quantitative light-induced fluorescence-D and polarizing microscope. Artificial white lesion induced on the sound 72 teeth, $CavityShield^{TM}$ (Group I), $FluroDose^{TM}$ (Group II) and $Flor-Opal^{(R)}$ Varnish (Group III) were applied 1, 2 or 3 times every two weeks. The following results was obtained: 1. In group I, II and III, ${\Delta}L$ were increased. From regression analysis of ${\Delta}L$ by the number of application, the equation was y = 3.878x + 90.612 in group I, y = 3.133x + 37.168 in group II, and y = 3.509x + 82.322 in group III(p < 0.05). 2. In group I, II and III, ${\Delta}D$ were decreased. From regression analysis of ${\Delta}D$ by the number of application, the equation was y = -2.336x + 107.235 in group I, y = -2.158x + 101.620 in group II, and y = -1.940x + 94.806 in group III(p < 0.05). 3. The Pearson correlation value between the ${\Delta}L$ and ${\Delta}D$ was -0.673 in group I, -0.574 in group II, and -0.431 in group III(p < 0.05).
The efects of application time on the persistence of chlorothalonil in sesame plants and its persistence in soil were studied in the field. A procedure was used which permited the analysis of residues of Chlorothalonil (DACONIL 2787) in sesame(Sesamum indicum L.)and soil. The procedure was based on the multiresidue analytical method using an polarized acetonitrile solution or acidified acetone as the extracting solvent. The DACONIL 2787 is separated from the fat in the extracts by using an activated alumina and Florisil chromatogaphic column. Residues of DACONIL 2787 were determined by subjecting the alternate eluate from the Florisil column to gas chromatographic analysis(ECD). Residue of chlorothalonil in sesame are proved to 0.06 ppm for six sprays, 3rd day before harvest The half-life of chlorothalonil in soil proved to be 8.9 days and residues of chlorothalonil was only 0.03 ppm 100 days after application of 15 ppm.
While the ability to develop nanomaterials and incorporate them into products is advancing rapidly worldwide, understanding of the potential health safety effects of nanomaterials has proceeded at a much slower pace. Since 2008, Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) started an investigation to prepare "Strategic Action Plan" to evaluate safety and nano risk management associated with foods, drugs, medical devices and cosmetics using nano-scale materials. Although there are some studies related to potential risk of nanomaterials, physical-chemical characterization of nanomaterials is not clear yet and these do not offer enough information due to their limitations. Their uncertainties make it impossible to determine whether nanomaterials are actually hazardous to human. According to the above mention, we have some problems to conduct the human exposure risk assessment currently. On the other hand, uncertainty about safety may lead to polarized public debate and to businesses unwillingness for further nanotechnology investigation. Therefore, the criteria and methods to assess possible adverse effects of nanomaterials have been vigorously taken into consideration by many international organizations: the World Health Organization, the Organization for Economic and Commercial Development and the European Commission. The object of this study was to develop risk assessment principles for safety management of future nanoproducts and also to identify areas of research to strengthen risk assessment for nanomaterials. The research roadmaps which were proposed in this study will be helpful to fill up the current gaps in knowledge relevant nano risk assessment.

Six serpentine mines are found in South Korea. We investigated occurrence, characteristics and origin of constituent minerals of Bibong serpentine mine in Chungcheongnam-do. We also analyzed the properties of serpentine minerals using XRD, XRF, SEM/EDS, FT-IR, EPMA and polarized microscope. The serpentinite of Bibong mine occurs as intruded body within the Precambrian metasedimentary rocks. Various minerals such as serpentine, forsterite, pyroxene, tremolite, magnetite, chlorite, mica, talc and dolomite are occurre. Five distinctive mineral assemblage types are observed in the serpentinite: (A) serpentine-forsterite, (B) serpentine, (C) serpentine-chlorite (vermiculite), (D) serpentine-tremolite, (E) tremolite-chlorite. Lizardite and antigorite are mainly occurred as serpentine minerals and chrysotile is partly included. From the study of mineral compositions and occurrence of serpentinite body, serpentine formed by hydrothermal alteration of ultramafic rock consisting mainly of forsterite, and altered minerals such as chlorite and tremolite subsequently formed by secondary hydrothermal alteration.
It is necessry to develop and strengthen the activity of enzymic source which in low applied for maggerley brewing as an amylolytic and proteolytic starter, recently in this country the active and strong enzymic starter is required for the better brewing and to substitute another starch material for the present wheat flour. In this study, manufacturing method the strong enzymic source have been developed and established with use of raw wheat bran plus fungal strains of Rhizopus sp. and Aspergillus usamii the culture of starter. The results on experimental the activities of enzymic sources (stater) are as following ; 1. Method of making the enzymic source (starter) is to cultivate the strains of Asperguillus orzyae, Asp. kawachii, Asp usamii and Rhizopus sp. in the acid treated raw or heatboiled wheat bran. 2. The saccharogenic pwoer (S.P.) of enzymic source which consisted of raw bran plus fungi and cultured in it is generally stronger than those of heat-boiled bran plus fungi, the strongest power was shown in the culture of Rhizopus plus raw bran, and the next other is in mixture of Asp.usamii and Rhizopus on raw wheat bran. 3. The most strong alpha amylase activity was expressed in the plot of Asp.oryzae on heat-boiled wheat bran, the next was in the culture of Rhizopus nad Aspergillus usamii on raw wheatbran. 4. The most vigourous acidic proteinase activity was expressed in the micture of raw bran plus Asp. usamii and Rhizopus those were independentlu cu;tured before mixing for neutral proteinase activity, it was shown in the mixed culture of Asp. usamii and Rhizopus on raw wheat bran, the msot active alkaline proteinase activity of enzymic source was found in the plot of raw bran material. 5. For poly-preptidase activity in pH 6.5 it is found that the culture of Rhizopus and Asp.usamii on raw bran was most active among them of enzymic sources. 6. Generally, it is concluded that culture of fungi on acid treated raw wheat bran is stronger in its activity than those of heat boiled wheat bran, especially the culture of Rhizopus nad Asp.usamii on raw bran exhibited the most vigorous and non-polarized activity for all aspects, so it is considered to be most desirable enzymic stater in Korean Maggerley brewing and this would be able to substitute brewing material for the present wheat flour because of its strong and wide hand activity of amylolytic and proteolytic action.

This paper presents an implementation of a millimeter-wave(W band) multiflare-angle horn antenna. The proposed antenna is a multimode dual-polarized square horn having equal E- and H-plane beamwidths and consists of a multimode generating section, a four-square-waveguide exciter, orthomode transducers, and power combiners for the sum pattern formation. The antenna structure has been designed to allow for easy fabrication and the designed antenna has been fabricated to a precision of ${\pm}0.02mm$ by layer-by-layer machining and diffusion bonding. The input reflection coefficient and the radiation pattern of the fabricated antenna have been measured using a network analyzer and a far-field test facility. Measurements show that the proposed antenna has 17.7~18.3 dBi gain, $25.2{\sim}28.5^{\circ}$ beamwidth, and an input VSWR between 1.02~1.75, within ${\pm}0.5GHz$ from the center frequency.

In this study, we showed that Mycobacterium abscessus MAB2560 induces the maturation of dendritic cells (DCs), which are representative antigen-presenting cells (APCs). M. abscessus MAB2560 stimulate the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines [interleukin (IL)-6, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-${\alpha}$, IL-$1{\beta}$, and IL-12p70] and reduce the endocytic capacity and maturation of DCs. Using $TLR4^{-/-}$ DCs, we found that MAB2560 mediated DC maturation via Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). MAB2560 also activated the MAPK signaling pathway, which was essential for DC maturation. Furthermore, MAB2560-treated DCs induced the transformation of $na\ddot{i}ve$ T cells to polarized $CD4^+$ and $CD8^+$ T cells, which would be crucial for Th1 polarization of the immune response. Taken together, our results indicate that MAB2560 could potentially regulate the host immune response to M. abscessus and may have critical implications for the manipulation of DC functions for developing DC-based immunotherapy.
