드론을 활용한 풍향풍속이 적용된 박격포용 극표정법 프로그램 개발 (The Development of Mortar POLAR Program with Windward Wind Speed use Drones)

  • Currently, drones are used in various fields such as transportation, agriculture and military. Especially, drones for military use are developed and utilized in many ways such as reconnaissance and bombing to minimize one's own damages. Nevertheless, they are developed as new weapons of modern types, so it is difficult to use them together with existing weapons. In this study, a drone program for effective bombing of mortar, which is often used in modern warfare, is developed. In mortar, a forward soldier comprehends the location of enemy for its distance and altitude, input them in data computer of launching angle, and applies the result value to cannon to launch. However, the existing method has low accuracy of bombing because observing shall be done within 1km from the target, and measuring accurate direction and velocity of the wind is difficult. Whereas, in the program of this study, the location of target, GPS, direction and velocity of the wind, and altitude are measured through drone. Each digit is used to calculate bombing specification for optimal bombing through the calculating formula of launching angle. In addition, when specifications are input in the program, the calculation is done automatically, so that it can be used in various mortars and shells. With the use of the program in this study, the location of enemy can be comprehended, and bombing specifications can be calculated quickly. It also enables the intensity of the wind to be applied for accurate bombing.

극좌표계 변환과 AdaBoost를 이용한 회전 얼굴 검출 (Rotated Face Detection Using Polar Coordinate Transform and AdaBoost)

  • 회전된 얼굴 검출은 많은 응용 분야에서 필요하지만 회전에 따른 얼굴 모양의 큰 변화로 인해 여전히 어려운 분야이다. 이 논문에서는 회전의 영향을 받지 않는 극좌표 변환 방법과 변환된 영상을 이용하여 회전얼굴을 효과적으로 검출하는 방법이 제안되었다. 제안한 극좌표계 변환 방법은 회전 각도와 무관하게 눈, 입 등과 같은 얼굴 구성 요소들의 위치가 항상 유지되기 때문에 얼굴 구성요소들 간의 공간 정보가 유지되며, 이로 인해 회전 효과가 제거된다. 극좌표계 변환된 영상을 정면 얼굴 검출에 사용되는 AdaBoost를 이용하여 학습하고 회전 얼굴을 검출하였다. 비얼굴 영상을 LBP를 이용하여 학습하고 검출한 얼굴을 검증하였다. BioID 데이터베이스에 있는 영상을 회전하여 얻은 3600개 얼굴영상에 대한 실험 결과 96.17%의 회전얼굴 검출률을 얻었다. 또한, 다수의 회전 얼굴이 포함된 배경이 있는 영상에서 회전 얼굴들을 정확하게 검출하였다.

Surface modification of $TiO_2$ by atmospheric pressure plasma

  • To improve surface wettability, each sample was treated by atmospheric pressure plasma (APP) using dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) system. Argon and oxygen gases were used for treatment gas to modify the $TiO_2$ surface by APP with RF power range from 50 to 200 W. Water contact angle was decreased from $20^{\circ}$ to $10^{\circ}$ with argon only. However, water contact angle was decreased from $20^{\circ}$ to < $1^{\circ}$ with mixture of argon and oxygen. Water contact angle with $O_2$ plasma was lower than water contact angle with Ar plasma at the same RF power. It seems to be increasing the polar force of $TiO_2$ surface. Also, analysis result of X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS) shows the increase of intensity of O1s shoulder peak, resulting in increasing of surface wettability by APP. Moreover, each water contact angle increased according to increase past time. However, contact angle increase with plasma treatment was lower than without plasma treatment. Additionally, the efficiency of $TiO_2$ photocatalyst was improved by plasma surface-treatment through the degradation experiment of phenol

  • We investigated the horizontal alignment properties such as surface morphology, pretilt angle, and polar and azimuthal anchoring energy of organic alignment material-coated surface treated by ion beam. In this investigation the energy and incident angle of ion beam were changed. We also fabricated an in-plane switching (IPS) cell by ion beam alignment. The results showed similar voltage-transmittance characteristics to those of a rubbed cell and better dark state.

  • New copolyimides containing nitrile side group were synthesized from copolymerization of pyromellitic dianhydride, m-phenylene diamine and 3,5-diaminobenzonitrile and subsequent thermal imidization of the resulting poly(amic acid). Crystallinity, glass transition temperature and initial decomposition temperature of copolyimides were almost identical to those of homo polyimide prepared from PMDA and m-PDA. Change of pretilt angle induced by the orientation layer of resulting copolyimide was investigated by using a nitrile-containg nematic liquid crystal cell after rubbing. As the content of polar nitrile group was increased in the copolymer, pretilt angle was increased from $3.65^{\circ}$ to $6.49^{\circ}$. The mechanism of this was speculated as the dipolar interaction between the liquid crystal and nitrile groups in copolyimide.

Characterization of Black Carbon Collected from Candle Light and Automobile Exhaust Pipe

  • Black carbon contributes to global warming and melting of polar ice as well as causing respiratory diseases. However, it is also an inexpensive, easily available carbon nano material for elementary chemistry experiments. In this study, black carbon samples collected from candle light and automobile exhaust pipes have been investigated to examine their compositions and surface characteristics. The observed broad G and D bands and amorphous $sp^3$ band in their Raman spectra as well as the high intensity of the D (defect) band reveal that black carbon is principally made of amorphous graphite. The black carbon deposits in automobile exhaust pipes are apparently more amorphous, probably due to the shorter time allowed for formation of the carbonaceous matter. An exceptionally large water contact angle ($159.7^{\circ}$) is observed on black carbon, confirming its superhydrophobicity. The surface roughness evidently plays an important role for the contact angle much larger than that of crystalline graphite ($98.3^{\circ}$). According to the Sassie-Baxter equation, less than 1% the area actually in contact with the water drop.

  • We have performed computer simulation to obtain electro-optic chracteristics of reflective liquid crystal display (LCD) using wide viewing angle LC mode, fringe field switching(FFS). Unlike other reflective LCD modes, in the FFS mode, the LC director in plance so an application to reflective display consisted of polarizer, LC layer and reflector is possible. when an incident light is 550mm, the optimal cell retardation value is 0.1365${\mu}$m and the efficiency of reflectivity is high over 90% with very little wavelength dispersion. Further, we have studied a new reflective display with polarizer, optical compensation film with half plate, LC plus reflector. The display with optimized cell parameters shows high contrast ratio (CR) over 130 with high light efficiency over 90% at normal direction and the CR greater than 5 exists over 60$^{\circ}$ of polar angle in all directions.

대기압 플라즈마를 이용한 TiO2 광촉매의 효율향상을 위한 표면 개질 연구 (Surface Modification of TiO2 by Atmospheric Pressure Plasma)

  • $TiO_2$의 표면의 친수성을 증가시키기 위하여 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD)에 의해 발생된 대기압 플라즈마 (atmospheric pressure plasma: APP)를 이용 RF power 50~200 W 범위에서 Ar과 $O_2$ 가스를 사용 대기압 플라즈마로 광촉매 표면을 개질하였다. Ar 가스 단독으로 처리한 시료의 접촉각은 20도에서 10도로 감소하였으며, $O_2$ 가스를 반응성 가스로 하여 처리한 경우에는 접촉각이 20도에서 1도 미만으로 감소하였다. 동일한 RF power에서 $O_2$ 플라즈마 처리 시 더 낮은 접촉각을 확인하였는데, 이는 $TiO_2$ 표면과 산소원자의 결합으로 인하여 표면의 polar force의 증가에 의한 것으로 판단되어 대기압 플라즈마로 처리된 시료의 X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS)의 스펙트럼 분석결과 OH 작용기의 증가로 표면의 친수성이 증가됨을 확인하였다. 대기압 플라즈마로 처리된 시료와 처리하지 않은 시료의 접촉각은 모두 시간이 지남에 따라 증가하지만 플라즈마 처리 된 시료의 접촉각 증가는 플라즈마 처리하지 않은 시료의 접촉각 보다 작은 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 페놀 분해 실험을 통하여 플라즈마 표면처리를 통하여 $TiO_2$ 광촉매의 분해 효율이 크게 향상되는 것을 확인하였다.

CBCT를 이용한 3차원 안면비대칭분석 (3D Analysis of Facial Asymmetry using CBCT)

  • Accurate analysis of facial asymmetry prior to any orthognathic or orthodontic treatment plan is essential in ensuring good treatment result. Dental CBCT (Cone-beam Computed Tomography) provides as actual three-dimensional measurements of distance and angle without any radiographic magnification as medical CT provides, while its field of view is limited to the oral and maxillofacial area. CBCT is a useful tool for the diagnosis of facial asymmetry. The coordinates of facial landmarks are obtained from the 3D reconstruction software which enables the establishment of perpendicular planes and the identification of the landmarks. Then, the bilateral discrepancies of the landmarks are obtained as spherical polar coordinates which can show the amount of asymmetry and its direction. A method of 3D analysis of facial asymmetry using CBCT is introduced in this report.

Numerical Study of Inflation of a Dipolar Magnetic Field by Injecting Plasma with Different Beta

  • A Magneto Plasma Sail(MPS) produces propulsive force by the interaction between the solar wind and an artificial magnetic field inflated by injecting plasma. Using a 2D hybrid PIC code, we evaluate the inflation of magnetic field when Argon(Ar) plasma with different ${\beta}_{in}$ including the value less than one is injected into the dipolar magnetic field generated by a superconducting coil. It is found that the magnetic field can be inflated by injecting plasma within an angle of $30^{\circ}$ in the polar direction and the magnetic field decays in the polar direction according to $B{\propto}r^{-2.4}$ after the plasma(${\beta}_{in}$=0.1) is injected.
