A Performance Analysis Model of PC-based Software Router Supporting IPv6-IPv4 Translation for Residential Gateway

  • This paper presents a queuing analysis model of a PC-based software router supporting IPv6-IPv4 translation for residential gateway. The proposed models are M/G/1/K or MMPP-2/G/1/K by arrival process of the software PC router. M/G/1/K is a model of normal traffic and MMPP-2/G/1/K is a model of burst traffic. In M/G/1/K, the arriving process is assumed to be a Poisson process, which is independent and identically distributed. In MMPP-2/G/1/K, the arriving process is assumed to be two-state Markov Modulated Poisson Process (MMPP) which is changed from one state to another state with intensity. The service time distribution is general distribution and the service discipline of the server is processor sharing. Also, the total number of packets that can be processed at one time is limited to K. We obtain performance metrics of PC-based software router for residential gateway such as system sojourn time blocking probability and throughput based on the proposed model. Compared to other models, our model is simpler and it is easier to estimate model parameters. Validation results show that the model estimates the performance of the target system.

Traffic-Aware Relay Sleep Control for Joint Macro-Relay Network Energy Efficiency

  • With the ever growing demand of data applications, the joint macro-relay networks are emerging as a promising heterogeneous deployment to provide coverage extension and throughput enhancement. However, the current cellular networks are usually designed to be performance-oriented without enough considerations on the traffic variation, causing substantial energy waste. In this paper, we consider a joint macro-relay network with densely deployed relay stations (RSs), where the traffic load varies in both time and spatial domains. An energy-efficient scheme is proposed to dynamically adjust the RS working modes (active or sleeping) according to the traffic variations, which is called traffic-aware relay sleep control (TRSC). To evaluate the performance of TRSC,we establish an analytical model using stochastic geometry theory and derive explicit expressions of coverage probability, mean achievable rate and network energy efficiency (NEE). Simulation results demonstrate that the derived analytic results are reasonable and the proposed TRSC can significantly improve the NEE when the network traffic varies dynamically.

Block-Time of Arrival/Leaving Estimation to Enhance Local Spectrum Sensing under the Practical Traffic of Primary User

  • With a long sensing period, the inter-frame spectrum sensing in IEEE 802.22 standard is vulnerable to the effect of the traffic of the primary user (PU). In this article, we address the two degrading factors that affect the inter-frame sensing performance with respect to the random arrival/leaving of the PU traffic. They are the noise-only samples under the random arrival traffic, and the PU-signal-contained samples under the random leaving traffic. We propose the model in which the intra-frame sensing cooperates with the inter-frame one, and the inter-frame sensing uses the time-of-arrival (ToA), and time-of-leave (ToL) detectors to reduce the two degrading factors in the inter-frame sensing time. These ToA and ToL detectors are used to search for the sample which contains either the ToA or ToL of the PU traffic, respectively, which allows the partial cancelation of the unnecessary samples. At the final stage, the remaining samples are input into a primary user detector, which is based on the energy detection scheme, to determine the status of PU traffic in the inter-frame sensing time. The analysis and the simulation results show that the proposed scheme enhances the spectrum-sensing performance compared to the conventional counter-part.

사고유형에 따른 원형교차로 사고모형 (Accident Models of Circular Intersections by Type in Korea)

  • 이 논문은 사고유형에 따른 교통사고를 다루고 있다. 연구의 목적은 두 가지 사고유형의 특성을 분석하고, 유형별 모형을 개발하는데 있다. 이를 위해 이 연구는 두 집단 사이의 차이점을 분석하고, 국내 원형교차로 자료를 사용하여 포아송 및 음이항 회귀모형을 개발하는데 그 목적이 있다. 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 차대차 사고가 73.41%로 가장 많은 비중을 차지하는 것으로 분석되었다. 둘째, 차대사람과 차대차 사고건수 및 EPDO를 종속변수로 통계적으로 의미 있는 2개의 포아송 모형과 2개의 음이항 모형이 개발되었다. 셋째, 사고유형별 심각도모형의 공통변수는 교통량, 그리고 특정변수로는 우회전 별도차로 수, 과속방지턱, 진출입구 수 및 횡단보도 수가 채택되었다.

  • 1970년대 이후 급속한 경제성장과자동차의 증가로 인해 도심지의 극심한 교통정체와 환경파괴의 문제가 대두되었다. 이러한 도시의 부정적 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 승용차위주의 교통수단을 승용차외의 대체교통수단으로 전환하는 것이 보다 효과적인 방법이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 관점에서 자전거는 환경친화적인 그린교통수단(Green Mode)으로 세계 각국에서는 각광받고 있고, 국내에서도 자전거의 이용률을 높이기 위한 다양한 시도가 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 자전거 이용의 활성화를 위해 우선적으로 고려되어져야 하는 안전성 측면에서 자전거 사고에 영향을 미치는 영향인자들에 대한 분석을 시도하였다. 자전거 사고의 안전성 분석을 위하여 비선형 회귀분석을 통해 사고모델을 개발하였고, 이들 개발된 모델들을 이용하여 자전거사고에 영향을 미치는 주요설명변수들에 대한 분석을 시도하였다. 모델분석결과, 포아송회귀분석(poisson regression)이 모델개발에 가장 적합한 것으로 나타났으며, 자전거 사고에 영향을 미치는 변수로는 교통량, 진출입구 수, 지형, 자전거도로, 학교, 주거지역, 교차로의 크기 버스정류장 등으로 분석되었다.

가산자료 모형을 이용한 국내 원형교차로 유형별 교통사고 분석 (Analysis of Traffic Accident by Circular Intersection Type in Korea Using Count Data Model)

  • This study aims to develop the traffic accident models by circular intersection type using count data model. The number of accident, the number of fatal and injured persons(FSI), and EPDO are calculated from the traffic accident data of TAAS. The circular intersection accident models are developed through Poisson and negative binomial regression analysis. The main results of this study are as follows. First, the null hypotheses that there are differences in the number of traffic accidents, FSI and EPDO by type of circular intersections are rejected. Second, the scale of intersection(median, large), number of approach road, mean width and length of exit road, area of the circulating roadway and central island are selected as factors influencing the number of traffic accidents, FSI and EPDO in rotary. Third, the scale of intersection(median), guide signs(limited speed, direction, roundabout), number of approach road, entry angle, area of the intersection and central island are adopted as factors influencing the number of traffic accidents, FSI and EPDO in roundabout. Finally, transferring from rotary to roundabout could be expected to make the accident decrease.

지연시간과 손실율을 고려한 데이터 트래픽 분석 (An Analysis of Data Traffic Considering the Delay and Cell Loss Probability)

  • 차세대 고속 통신망을 구축하기 위해서는 해결해야 할 많은 문제들이 있는데, 이 중에서 기본적으로 고려해야 할 사항은 바로 망에 흐르는 트래픽의 특성 분석이다. 현재 제공되는 많은 인터넷 서비스들의 동작 특성은 자기 유사성(Self-similar)이라는 기존에 고려되던 트래픽 특성과는 완전히 다른 장기간 의존성의 성질들을 가진다는 것이 증명되었다 이러한 장기간 의존성 성질을 표현하기 위한 모델로는 자기유사 모델이 있는데, 이것은 단기간 의존성을 표현하는 기존의 모델인 포아송 모델과는 상반되는 개념이다. 따라서 차세대 통신망의 설계 및 디멘져닝을 위해서는 무엇보다도 데이터 트래픽의 주요 특성인 버스트성(Burstiness)과 자기유사성이 반영된 트래픽 모델이 요구된다. 여기서 자기유사성은 허스트 파라미터(Hurst Parameter)로 특성화 될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 데이터 트래픽의 자기유사성 및 큐잉지연을 고려한 유효대역폭 산출식을 유도하여 시뮬레이션 결과와 비교 분석하였다.

국내 로터리의 주.야간 교통사고모형 (Traffic Accident Models of Domestic Rotary by Day and Nighttime)

  • This study deals with the accident models of rotary. The objectives is to develop the models by day and nighttime. In pursuing the above, this study gives particular attentions to collecting the data of geometric structure and accidents of 20 rotaries and developing the Poisson and negative binomial regression models using NLOGIT 4.0. The main results are as follows. First, the numbers of accident of nighttime (1.03 per 1,000 entering vehicles) were analyzed to be very higher than those of day (0.47 per 1,000 entering vehicles). Second, 4 Poisson models which were all statistically significant were developed, in which the dependent variable were both the number of accident and EPDO (equivalent property damage only). Finally, the number of entry/exit ($X_1$) and the number of entering lane ($X_5$) in the models of the number of accident, and $X_1$ in the EPDO models were adopted as the common variables. The variables were analyzed to be all positive to the dependent variables.

AN INTERPOLATION APPROXIMATION VIA SIMULATION ON A QUEUEING NETWORK

  • In this paper we consider open queueing system with a Poisson arrival process which have a finite upper bound on the arrival rate for which the system is stable. Interpolation approximations for quantities of interest, such as moments of the sojourn time distribution, have previously been developed for such systems, utilizing exact light and heavy traffic limits. These limits cannot always be easily computed for complex systems. Thus we consider an interpolation approximation where all of the relevant information is estimated via simulation. We show that all the relevant information can in fact be simultaneously estimated in a single regenerative simulation at any arrival rate. In addition to light and heavy traffic limits, both the quantity of interest and its derivative (with respect to the arrival rate) are estimated at the arrival rate of the simulation. All of the estimates are then combined, using a least squares procedure, to provide an interpolation approximation.

마코프 재생과정을 이용한 ATM 트랙픽 모델링 및 성능분석 (ATM Traffic Modeling with Markov Renewal Process and Performance Analysis)

  • In order to build and manage an ATM network effectively under several types of control methods, it is necessary to estimate the performance of the equipments in various viewpoints, especially of ATM multiplexer. As for the method to model the input stream into the ATM multiplexer, many researches have been done to characterize it by, such as, fluid flow, MMPP(Markov Modulated Poisson Process), or MMDP (Markov Modulated Deterministic Process). We introduce an MRP(Markov Renewal Process) to model the input stream which has proper structure to represent the burst traffic with high correlation. In this paper, we build a model for aggregated heterogeneous ON-OFF sources of ATM traffic by MRP. We make discrete time MR/D/1/B queueing system, whose input process is the superposed MRP and present a performance analysis by finding CLP(Cell Loss Probability). A simulation is done to validate our algorithm.
