  • In this paper, when the glass plate of fragile material is subjected to impact load, the fracture pattern and the generation phenomenon of cone crack were theoretically clarified by using the analysis method of impulsive stress in the first paper. The numerical analysis results of strain distribution at a distance of 0.1cm, from the impact loading point to 5cm, were compared with experimental results. The main conclusions obtained are as follows; (1) The generation phenomenon of cone crack at the impact fracture of the glass plate can be analytically confirmed by using the three dimensional dynamic theory of elasticity. And the numerical analysis results of strain distribution using this theory are relatively in close agreement with the crack size obtained from the impact fracture experiment. (2) After the stress wave generated at the impact point propagated to the spherical compressive wave, this stress wave reflected from the back surface and reached again at the surface of the plate to the spherical stress wave. Then the generation of cone crack can be confirmed along the stress wave surface. (3) The plate is the thicker, the more is the generation phenomenon of cone crack at the lower impact velocity range (20m/s-35m/s). Because the fracture generate before the maximum tensile stress acting to the glass plate, cone crack was rarely ever generated.

  • Many real networks exhibit overlapping community structures. Recent studies have been performed that analyze the impact of overlapping community structure on information propagation, but few of them concerned with individual behaviors. From this point of view, we propose a Markov process model to evaluate the performance of information propagation in social networks with overlapping community structures. In addition, many individual social behaviors are combined in the model. For example, individuals may exhibit selfish behaviors, such as individual and social selfishness, and people may discard the information after they have used it. The accuracy of the model is verified by simulation. Furthermore, the numerical results show that both overlapping community structure of the network and individual behaviors have a significant impact on the outbreak size and propagation speed of the information. Additionally, the overlapping community structure of the social network can reduce the impact of selfishness on information propagation.

  • The level of awareness and actual implementation of integration and computerization in the construction industry is growing. However, it is not clear at this point how to assess the extent of their impact and to identify in which ways they better support the construction projects related to their success. The objectives of this research are the development of a model to evaluate the impact of integration and computerization on construction projects and the recommendation of guidelines for companies in identifying suitable ways for them to incorporate integration and computerization Into their operation. The developed conceptual model has been found robust enough to be used as a benchmarking tool in evaluating the performance of the construction process and to strategize its future operation.

  • The water pollution such as oil spill from stream and river because of car accidents have been frequent cases in the watershed of Dam. However we don't have any simulation methods about flow modeling on the watershed and stream tree. In this study aims to analyze water pollution accidents area on impact range for ANDONG-Dam. The focused watershed and the risk range of path analysis model was designed by GIS database. The frequency of transportation accidents which may occur from road accidents in the level of quantitative and qualitative analysis to map flow analysis using ArcHydro Model and Open Geospatial Consortium(OGC) API. and the path way from the accident point to the reservoir stayed on the path was simulated. The area of risk accessment index was displayed with cell and grid of dam area.

  • In this paper, crashworthiness of the EMU carbody of Incheon Metro is numerically evaluated against two types of overhead line structures (headspan and portal-type). The material of the EMU carbody is stainless steel (SUS301L), and that of the overhead line structures is the structural steel (SS400). The EMU carbody is analyzed under collision conditions, such as upright side-on impact, side-on roof impact and angled roof impact scenarios, to be collided against the headspan type or the portal type at the speed of 64.4km/h, respectively. It is concluded from the numerical results that the overhead line structures will not do so much harm to the EMU carbody of Incheon Metro for various collisions caused by derailment. Furthermore, the overhead line structure of the portal type is superior to that of the headspan type in the crashworthy point of view.

  • The dynamic crack growth in ductile steel is investigated by means of the impact loaded 3 point bending (3PB) specimens. Results from experiments and numerical simulations are compared to each other. A modified 3PB specimen designed with the reduced width at its ends has been developed in order to avoid the initial compressive loading of the crack tip and also to avoid the uncertain boundary conditions at the impact heads. Numerical simulations of the experiments are made by using a finite element method (FEM) code, ABAQUS. The high speed photography is used to obtain the crack growth and the data of the crack tip opening displacement (CTOD). The direct measurements of the relative rotations of two specimen halves are made by using the Moire interference pattern.

  • Promulgation of the Environment Preservation Act of 1977 has tried to conserve the environment encroached by the development projects. Since 1983, this act has included tourism development in EIA project and public participation as a part of EIA process since 1991. Still, there are many problems in applying the gathered opinions of local residents in such development plans. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a new system in whole project process as well as EIA to reflect these opinions. This study aims to investigate the problems in the process of the public participation and to suggest more effective solutions from the developer's point of view. Studies include theories of public participation developed in the planning process and the opinion survey of developers.

  • This work investigates the vibrational characteristics of the underground gas pipelines. Experiments were conducted to analyze the effects of various parameters on the vibrational characteristics from the emergency detection point of view. Influences of the various types of impact exerted on the pipe, height of free fall and measuring locations were analyzed. Especially, the difference between the vibrational signal generated by the direct impact on the pipe and the ambient noise was successfully identified. To validate the experimental observation, computer simulation was also performed with constant properties(elasticity, fluid velocity and internal pressure) which are directly conjectured from the accompanying experiment with a real pipe system.

  • This study is focused on a climate data integrity to improve water quality assessment due to the social development projects. The study is in an attempt to calculate both extreme ranges of weather data measurements and partly provide means to assess qualification of data which fall within the extremes at the 23 meteorological weather stations. Generally speaking, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, relative humidity, dew point temperature are in the range of reasonable accuracy. However, there found some outliers of the brightness sunshine hours in Cheonan station. Also some years in Gwangju, Seoul, Wonju, Busan, and Jeju never reach to their upper limit and perhaps the calibration of the equipment is doubtful. The users need to take cautions in using the brightness sunshine hour data in preparation of water resources planning and management by estimating evapotranspiration and river discharge, and/or growth rate of the algae (phytoplankton).

  • The AERMOD model was the most used, accounting for 89.0%, based on the analysis of the environmental impact assessment reports published in the Environmental Impact Assessment Information Support System (EIASS) between 2021 and 2022. The mismatch of versions between AERMET and AERMOD was found to be 25.3%. There was the operational time discrepancy of 50.6% from industrial complexes, urban development projects between used in the model and applied in estimating pollutant emissions. The results of applying various versions of the AERMET and AERMOD models to both area sources and point sources in both simple and complex terrain in the Gunsan area showed similar values after AERMOD version 12 (15181). Emissions are assessed as 24-hour operation, and the predicted concentration in both simple and complex terrain when using the variable emission coefficient option that applies an 8-hour daytime operation in the model is lowered by 37.42% ~ 74.27% for area sources and by 32.06% ~ 54.45% for point sources. Therefore, to prevent the error in using the variable emission coefficient, it is required to clearly present the emission calculation process and provide a detailed explanation of the composition of modeling input data in the environmental impact assessment reports. Also, thorough reviews by special institutions are essential.
