  • This study concerns an advanced 3D surface reconstruction method that the vertices of surface model can be completely matched to the unstructured point cloud measured from arbitrary complex shapes. The concept of bounding voxel model is introduced to generate the mesh model well-representing the geometrical and topological characteristics of point cloud. In the reconstruction processes, the application of various methodologies such as shrink-wrapping, mesh simplification, local subdivision surface fitting, insertion of is isolated points, mesh optimization and so on, are required. Especially, the effectiveness, rapidity and reliability of the proposed surface reconstruction method are demonstrated by the simulation results for the geometrically and topologically complex shapes like dragon and human mouth.

  • Landmark Spots in 2D gel electrophoresis are used in many methods of 2DEG spot matching. Landmark Spots are obtained manually and it is a bottle neck in the entire protein analysis process. Automated landmark spots detection is a very crucial topic in processing a massive amount of 2DGE data. In this paper, Automated landmark spot detection is proposed using point pattern matching and graph theory. Neighbor spots are defined by a graph theory to use and only a centered spot and its neighbor spots are considered for spot matching. Normalized Hausdorff distance is introduced as a criterion for measuring degree of similarity. In the conclusion, the method proposed in this paper can get about 50% of the total spot pairs and the accuracy rate is almost 100%, which the requirements of landmark spots are fully satisfied.

  • It is difficult that a non-translational motion in a block is estimated by the block matching algorithm (BMA). In this paper, a nodal-displacement-based deformation model is used for this reason. This model assumes that a selected number of control nodes move freely in a block and that displacement of any interior point can be interpolated from nodal displacements. As a special case with a single node this model is equivalent to a translational model. And this model can represent more complex deformation using more nodes. We used an iterative gradient based search algorithm to estimate nodal displacement. Each iteration involves the solution of a simple linear equation. This method is called the deformable block matching algorithm (DBMA).

  • The purpose of this paper is to extract fast DEM (Digital Elevation Model) using satellite images. DEM extraction consists of three parts. First part is the modeling of satellite position and attitude, second part is the matching of two images to find corresponding points of them and third part is to calculate the elevation of each point by using the results of the first and second part. The position and attitude modeling of satellite is processed by using GCPs. A area based matching method is used to find corresponding points between the stereo satellite images. The elevation of each point is calculated using the exterior orientation parameters obtained from modeling and conjugate points from matching. In the DEM generation system, matching procedure holds most of a processing time, therefore to reduce the time for matching, a new fast matching algorithm using gradient correlation and fast similarity measure calculation method is proposed. In this paper, the SPOT satellite images, level 1A 6000$\times$6000 panchromatic images are used to extract DEM. The experiment result shows the possibility of fast DEM extraction with the satellite images.

  • The extraction of significant feature points from a video is directly associated with the suggested method's function. In particular, the occlusion regions in trees or people, or feature points extracted from the background and not from objects such as the sky or mountains are insignificant and can become the cause of undermined matching or recognition function. This paper classifies the feature points required for building recognition by using multi-frames in order to improve the recognition function(algorithm). First, through SIFT(scale invariant feature transform), the primary feature points are extracted and the mismatching feature points are removed. To categorize the feature points in occlusion regions, RANSAC(random sample consensus) is applied. Since the classified feature points were acquired through the matching method, for one feature point there are multiple descriptors and therefore a process that compiles all of them is also suggested. Experiments have verified that the suggested method is competent in its algorithm.

  • An aerodynamic design for centrifugal compressor which was applied to medium speed diesel engine has done. First of all, exact compressor specifications must be defined by accurate engine system matching. This matching program has been developed. Using the mean1ine prediction method, geometric design and performance curve for compressor was done and verified by comparing three dimensional viscous CFD results. The deviation at the design point was about 2.3%. Combustor has been designed and manufactured for the performance test of medium speed diesel engine turbocharger. Fuel nozzle of combustor was designed and performed by PIV and PDPA test equipment. Through these results, spray characteristics were studied and flow coefficient equation was deduced.

  • An efficient corner matching algorithm is developed to minimize the amount of calculation. To reduce the amount of calculation, all available information from a corner detector is used to make model. This information has uncertainties due to discretization noise and geometric distortion, and this is represented by fuzzy rule base which can represent and handle the uncertainties. Form fuzzy inference procedure, a matched segment list is extracted, and resulted segment list is used to calculate the transformation between object of model and scene. To reduce the false hypotheses, a vote and re-vote method is developed. Also an auto tuning scheme of the fuzzy rule base is developed to find out the uncertainties of features from recognized results automatically. To show the effectiveness of the developed algorithm, experiments are conducted for images of real electronic components.

  • This paper proposes a new and simple stereo matching algorithm using the disparity space image (DSI) technique. First of all, we detect some salient feature points on each scan-line of the image pair and set the matching area using those points and define a simple cost matrix. And we take advantage of matching by pixel-by-pixel instead of using the matching window. While the pixel-by-pixel method boost up the speed of matching, because of no using neighbor information, the correctness of the matching may not be better. To cover this point, we expand the matching path using character of disparity-space-image for using neighbor information. In addition, we devise the compensated matching module using the volume of the disparity space image in order to improve the accuracy of the match. Consequently, we can reduce mismatches at the disparity discontinuities and can obtain the more detailed and correct disparity map.

  • In this paper, we introduce a method of extracting three-dimensional feature points through the movement of a single mobile device. Using a monocular camera, a 2D image is acquired according to the camera movement and a baseline is estimated. Perform stereo matching based on feature points. A feature point and a descriptor are acquired, and the feature point is matched. Using the matched feature points, the disparity is calculated and a depth value is generated. The 3D feature point is updated according to the camera movement. Finally, the feature point is reset at the time of scene change by using scene change detection. Through the above process, an average of 73.5% of additional storage space can be secured in the key point database. By applying the algorithm proposed to the depth ground truth value of the TUM Dataset and the RGB image, it was confirmed that the\re was an average distance difference of 26.88mm compared with the 3D feature point result.

  • In this paper we propose the multiple local search method(MLSM) based on the motion information of the neighbor blocks. In the proposed method motions are estimated from the multiple searches of many candidate local search regions. To reduce the additional search points we avoid to search the same candidate regions previously visited using the distance from the initial search point to the recently found vector points. In the simulation the proposed method shows more excellent results than that of other gradient based method especially in the search of motion boundary.
