Poly(butadiene-g-MMA) was synthesized by grafting methyl metharcylate on polybutadiene which is intrinsically incompatible with poly(mothy methacrylate)(PMMA) and this graft copolymer was blended with PMMA. Mechanical properties of PMMA-poly(butadiene-g-MMA) blends and PMMA-polybutadiene blends, such as impact strength, tensile strength and haze were determined. Morphological changes of the blends as a function of graft percentage were observed by scanning electron microscopy. Mechanical properties of PMMA-poly(butadiene-g-MMA) blends were better than PMMA-polybutndiene blends. Especially, mechanical properties of PMMA-poly(butadiene-g-MMA) blends were improved nth increasing graft percentage of MMA.

The micro domain structures and crystallization behavior of the binary blends of poly(methyl methacrylate)-b-poly(pentafluorostyrene)-b-poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA-PPFS-PMMA) triblock copolymer with a low molecular weight poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) were investigated by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), small-angle light scattering (SALS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), optical microscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). A symmetric, PMMA-PPFS-PMMA triblock copolymer with a PPFS weight fraction of 33% was blended with PVDF in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc). In the wide range of PVDF concentration between 10.0 and 30.0 wt%, PVDF was completely incorporated within the PMMA micro domains of PMMA-PPFS-PMMA without further phase separation on a micrometer scale. The addition of PVDF altered the phase morphology of PMMA-PPFS-PMMA from well-defined lamellar to disordered. The crystallization of PVDF significantly disturbed the domain structure of PMMA-PPFS-PMMA in the blends, resulting in a poorly-ordered morphology. PVDF displayed unique crystallization behavior as a result of the space constraints imposed by the domain structure of PMMA-PPFS-PMMA. The pre-existing microdomain structures restricted the lamellar orientation and favored a random arrangement of lamellar crystallites.

A polymer composite electrolyte of a blend of poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) as a host polymer, the ethylene carbonate as a solvent, and $LiClO_4$ as a salt was studied. The crystallinity of the polymer electrolytes was evaluated using differential scanning calorimeter(DSC). The ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolytes was measured by frequency response analyzer(FRA) method. The effect of PEO/PMMA blend ratios on the ionic conduction in these electrolytes was investigated. The electrolyte films showed a phase separation due to immiscibility of the PMMA with the PEO. The PMMA-rich phase and the PEO-rich phase were produced during a film casting. The ionic conductivity of blend electrolyte was dependent on the content of PMMA and showed the highest value at 20 wt.%. However, when PMMA content exceeds 20 wt.%, the ionic conductivity was decreased due to the slow ionic transport through the PMMA-rich phase.
PMMA has been extensively adopted in Nano Imprint Lithography(NIL). PMMA nano-structures experience severe mechanical load and deformation during NIL process, and understanding its mechanical behavior is very important in designing and optimizing NIL process. One of the most promising techniques for characterizing the mechanical behavior of nano structures is nano pillar compression test. In this study, the mechanical behaviors of PMMA pillars during compression test are analyzed using Molecular Dynamics. Two methods for simulation of PMMA nano pillars are proposed. The stress-strain relationship of nano-scale PMMA structure is obtained based on CVFF(Covalent Valence Force Fields) potential and the dependency of the applied strain rate on the stress-strain relationship is analyzed. The obtained stress-strain relationships can be useful in simulating nano-scale PMMA structures using Finite Element Method(FEM) and understanding the experimental results obtained by compression test of PMMA nano pillars.

PMMA has been used extensively worldwide as industrial and construction materials due to its excellent material properties. When PMMA is subject to thermal degradation, unit of monomers are detached from polymer chain and this phenomena is called unzip reaction. Therefore, PMMA thermally degrades into its monomer. Characteristics of thermal degradation of PMMA has been investigated using TGA in this research as a basic study for recovery of MMA.
PMMA was grafted on MWCNT surface in order to prepare conducting film composed of 6FDAbased polyimide/MWCNT. The electrical conductivity of 6FDA-based polyimide/PMMA-g-MWCNT was investigated as a function of PMMA-g-MWCNT content. Dispersion of MWCNT in 6FDA-based polyimide composite film was better than the pristine MWCNT due to the interaction force between PMMA and 6FDA-based polyimide. Electrical conductivity was interpreted by percolation threshold theory. As a result, 6FDA-6FpDA/PMMA-g-MWCNT which have high critical exponents and low critical concentration showed better dispersion than polyimide composite material that contains DABA(diamino benzoic acid).

Poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is one of the promising representive of polymer gate dielectric for its high resistivity and sutible dielectric constant. PMMA (Mw=96700) films were prepared on p-Si by spin coating method. PMMA were coated compactively and flatly as observeed by AFM. MIS(Al/PMMA/p-Si) structure was made and capacitance-voltage (C-V) and current-voltage (I-V) measurements were done with PMMA films for different thermal treatment temperature. PMMA films were showed proper dielectric constant and breakdown voltage. Above the glass transition temperature PMMA films degraded. C-V measured at various frequencies, dielectric constant increased a little. The absence of hysteresis in the C-V characteristics, which eliminate the possibility of mobile charges in the PMMA films. The observed thermal stability, smooth surfaces, dielectric constant, I-V behavior implies PMMA formed by spin coating can be used as an efficient gate dielectric layer in OTFTs.
Blends of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) with polyvinylidenefluoride (PVDF) were prepared by melt mixing and investigated for optical waveguide devices by using hot embossing process. The glass transition temperatures ($T_g$) of the blends were decreased with increasing PVDF contents. However, the crystalline of PMMA/PVDF blends was not appeared by DSC and XRD due to miscibility between PMMA and PVDF. Shear viscosities and refractive indices of the blends were decreased with increasing PVDF contents. Optical transmittances and absorption losses of the blends were improved with increasing PVDF contents. This is due to a decreasing of polarizability of molecules by fluorine molecule in the PVDF.

In this study, we developed the solution-processed PMMA-$HfO_x$ hybrid ReRAM devices to overcome the respective drawbacks of organic and inorganic materials. The performances of PMMA-$HfO_x$ hybrid ReRAM were compared to those of PMMA- and $HfO_x$-based ReRAMs. Bipolar resistive switching behavior was observed from these ReRAMs. The PMMA-$HfO_x$ hybrid ReRAMs showed a larger operation voltage margin and memory window than PMMA-based and $HfO_x$-based ReRAMs. The reliability and electrical instability of ReRAMs were remarkably improved by blending the $HfO_x$ into PMMA. An Ohmic conduction path was commonly generated in the LRS (low resistance state). In HRS (high resistance state), the PMMA-based ReRAM showed SCLC (space charge limited conduction). the PMMA-$HfO_x$ hybrid ReRAM and $HfO_x$-based ReRAM revealed the Pool-Frenkel conduction. As a result of flexibility test, serious defects were generated in $HfO_x$ film deposited on PI (polyimide) substrate. On the other hand, the PMMA and PMMA-$HfO_x$ films showed an excellent flexibility without defect generation.
