The evolution of a late-type galaxy through multiple high-speed galaxy-galaxy collisions

  • We perform hydrodynamical simulations of a late-type galaxy experiencing frequent high-speed encounters with intruding galaxies, called "galaxy harassment". Specifically, we simulate a Milky Way-like galaxy colliding consecutively with six twice-massive early-type galaxies containing hot diffuse gas on their halos, with various impact parameters ranging from 65 kpc/h to 15 kpc/h at the relative speed of about 1500 km/s. We show that galaxy-galaxy encounters play a significant role in a cluster environment in gas stripping and star formation quenching through hydrodynamic interactions of late-type galaxies with cluster early-type galaxies.

  • In general, inchworm actuators are composed of two clamping piezoelectric elements and one expansion piezoelectric element. In this paper, two electromagnetic clampers are used for higher speed and high load. Dynamic equation is derived to simulate the behavior of the inchworm actuator with electromagnets. Electromagnetic clamper is used to improve the performance of the inchworm actuator. The electromagnetic clamper is composed of two permanent magnets and one traditional electromagnet. The permanent magnets play the role of the source of magnetic field to make clamping force higher, and the electromagnet is to change the mode between clamping and free. The driving voltage profile is also analyzed to improve the speed of inchworm actuator. The real system was manufactured and experimented to find dynamic characteristics and the maximum speed is obtained. Dynamic model is verified by comparing with experimental results.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop the straightforward design guidelines of PD/PID speed controller for Industry servo drives with plug and play concept. The controller gains are uniquely determined from the current control loop dynamics, speed loop delay, and mechanical parameters. In order to eliminate the mechanical friction uncertainties, an automatic PD/PI control mode switching algorithm Is introduced using online spectrum analysis of motor torque command. The dynamic performance of the proposed scheme assures a fast tracking response curve with minimal oscillation and settling time over the whole operating conditions. For comprehensive comparison of conventional PI control scheme, extensive test is carried out on actual servo system.

  • Transportation by railroad is superior to other transport in a mass transport, stability, rapid transit, delightfulness and low-pollution etc. But, it need to ensure a track stability that supports the train-load for high-speed in transportation by railroad. Ballast resistance force resists against the buckling of track taking a rail-tie's place. So, it plays an important role in a careful train-service. So, in this papers, we forced on measuring and theorizing about the Ballast Resistance Force that play a key role in track stability and high-speed. And we studied the mechanical property. Finally, we suggested the method of securing Ballast Resistance Force and the report for a careful train-service in high-speed.

제동 직전 자동차 주행 속도 추정에 관한 연구 (An Estimate of Vehicle Velocity of Braking Starting Point)

  • The transient brake time or distance is one of very important factors to guess the vehicle speed to inspect an automobile accident. But, it is usual that the vehicle speed is estimated by using only skid mark without considering the transient brake distance. Deceleration and the friction coefficients of tire and road surface play an important role in calculating the brake distance. In this paper, a scheme is presented to estimate more accurate automobile speed. The scheme contains the effect of the transient brake distance on the speed. Experiment was carried out on the asphalt, unpacked road to get relationships between the speeds and the skid mark distances, and to get the transient brake time. The experimental results were utilized to construct the equation to approximate more realistic vehicle speeds.

  • The term High Speed Machining has been used for many years to describe end milling with small diameter tools at high rotational speeds, typically 10,000 - 100,000 rpm. The process was applied in the aerospace industry for the machining of light alloys, notably aluminium. In recent year, however, the mold and die industry has begun to use the technology for the production of components, including those manufactured from hardened tool steels. With increasing cutting speed used in modern machining operation, the thermal aspects of cutting become more and more important. It not only directly influences in rate of tool wear, but also will affect machining precision recognized as thermal expansion and the roughness of the surface finish. Hence, one needs to accurately evaluate the rate of cutting heat generation and temperature distributions on the machining surface. To overcome the heat generation, we used to cutting fluid. Cutting fluid play a roles in metal cutting process. Mechanically coupled effectiveness of cutting fluids affect to friction coefficient at tool-work-piece interface and cutting temperature and chip control, surface finish, tool wear and form accuracy. Through this study, we examined the behavior of heat generation in high-speed machining and the cooling performance of various cooling methods.

학령 전기 아동의 글씨 쓰기에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on Factors Influencing Handwriting of Preschool Children)

  • Purpose: This study investigated the relationships of handwriting legibility and perceptual-motor skills, and handwriting speed and perceptual-motor skills. And identified the predictors that most affect the handwriting of preschool children. Methods: Twenty-three typically developing preschool aged children (mean age: 68.61 months, SD=2.04) were selected through the Korean-Denver Developmental Screening Test-2(K-DDST-2). The children were tested with regard to handwriting legibility, visual perception, visual-motor integration and fine-motor coordination. Results: First, a significant relationship was not found among handwriting legibility, visual perception, visual-motor integration and fine-motor coordination. Second, a significant relationship was found among handwriting speed, visual perception and fine-motor coordination. Third, stepwise multiple regression analyses showed that general visual perception were significant predictors for handwriting speed. Conclusion: Occupational therapists should evaluate children's visual perception levels utilizing a standardized test, and focus on general visual perception in order to improve handwriting skill(speed). Also, occupational therapists are expected to play an important role in the management and treatment of children's handwriting skills.

시운전 시험을 통한 한국형 고속열차의 승차감 변화추세에 관한 연구 (Examination on the variation of ride comfort for korean high speed train through on-line test)

  • In this paper, we introduce the variation of ride characteristics for HSR 350x(Korea High Speed Train project) through on-line test during about 3 years. The concept of term "ride comfort" is equivocal. Generally it is evaluated as the vehicle vibration. The ride comfort for HSR 350x has been assessed by statistical method according to UIC 513R. The testing results show that HSR 350x has no problems from the viewpoint of the comfort ride on the high speed line and conventional line and that 1st and 2nd suspensions play an important role in the ride characteristics for high speed train.

초고속선 실험을 위한 신형식 예인전차의 현가장치 설계시안 (Design Idea of Suspension for Traction Wheel of Novel High Speed Towing Carriage)

  • In the conventional towing tank, the ordinary towing carriage has a speed barrier which caused not only by the limitation of the length of towing tank but also the limitation of acceleration. Therefore the length of the towing tank should be decided carefully from the planning stage of the towing tank construction. Consequently the acceleration of the towing carriage should be taken less than 0.06g practically to avoid the slip of the wheel on rail. Due to the increasing demand of the high speed experiments on the development of special novel ship, the requirement of the high speed towing carriage is continuously increased recently. When the minimum measuring time of the towing experiment is prescribed as five seconds, the carriage should be accelerated with higher than 0.12 g to get the speed of 18 m/sec even in the towing tank having a length of 400m in length approximately. This means that the requirement of acceleration is bigger than twice of the ordinary practices of carriage acceleration. In such a condition the exerted total power of motor could not converted to traction force for the acceleration of the carriage without slip. To over come these difficulties a pair of horizontal traction wheels are reinforced to each of the ordinary vertical carrier wheel and appropriate suspension system has been devised for the towing tank of super high speed operation. It is believed that the design of novel suspension system adaptable for the high speed acceleration of towing carriage will play a important role as a reference for the remodeling of the towing tank for high speed experiment.

비만학생을 위한 전통놀이 중심 비만관리 협동학습프로그램의 효과 (Effects of the Traditional Play-centered Obesity Control Program for Obese Elementary School Children based on Cooperative Learning Theory)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of the Traditional Play-centered Obesity Control Cooperative Learning Program based on the cooperative learning theory on obesity rate, physical fitness, self-esteem, and body image specifically in obese elementary school children. Methods: The research design for this study was based on a non- equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The study was conducted from September, 5 to November 30, 2012. The subjects included 74 obese children ($Exp.=25^{(a)}$, $Com.=24^{(b)}$, $Cont.=25^{(c)}$) with an obesity rate above 20% at an elementary school in G City. Data analysis was performed using SPSS/WIN 18.0, using Chi-square test, one-way ANOVA, and Scheffe test. Results: The obesity rate (F=4.033, p<.022) in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the group (Com, Cont), in which the Traditional Play-Centered Obesity Control Cooperative Learning Program was not implemented. Self-esteem (F=4.310, p<.017) also caused significant differences.
