Alloy 600에서 고온 기계적 거동에 미치는 규칙 반응의 영향 (Effects of the Ordering Reaction on High Temperature Mechanical Behavior in Alloy 600)

  • The effects of the ordering reaction on high temperature mechanical behavior is investigated by tensile tests at $2{\times}10^{-2}/s-3.3{\times}10^{-5}/s$ up to $745^{\circ}C$. The tensile deformed region is examined by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), TEM, and high resolution neutron diffraction (HRPD). The results showed that a plateau of tensile strength appeared at $150-500^{\circ}C$ whereas the elongation minimum occurred at about $600^{\circ}C$. This suggests that the occurrence of a plateau does not cause the elongation minimum. The temperature of the elongation minimum decreases with the strain rate. HRPD results show a lattice contraction in the tensile deformed specimen at the temperature of the plateau occurring region. The plateau of tensile strength, the lattice contraction, and the occurrence of serration appeared in the same temperature region.

  • Objective: Evidence from previous reports indicates that pig domestication in East Asia mainly occurred in the Mekong region and the middle and downstream regions of the Yangtze River. Further research identified two new origin centers for domestic pigs in the Tibetan Plateau and the islands of Southeast Asia. However, due to the small sample size of Tibetan pigs, details of the origin and spread of Tibetan pigs has not yet been established. Methods: We analyzed mitochondrial DNA control region (D-loop) variation in 1,201 individuals from nine Tibetan pig populations across five provinces. Comprehensive Tibetan pig samples were taken to perform the most detailed analysis of Tibetan pigs to date. Results: The result indicate that Rkaze pigs had the lowest level of diversity, while Changdu pigs had the highest diversity. Interestingly, these two populations were both in the Tibetan Plateau area. If we calculate diversity in terms of each province, the Tibetan Plateau area had the lowest diversity, while the Chinese province of Gansu had the highest diversity. Diversity gradient analysis of major haplotypes suggested three domestication centers of Tibetan pigs in the Tibetan Plateau and the Chinese provinces of Gansu and Yunnan. Conclusion: We found two new domestication centers for Tibetan pigs. One is in the Chinese province of Gansu, which lies in the upstream region of the Yellow River, and the other is in the Chinese province of Yunnan.

  • The intrinsic degradation behavior of $(V_{0.53}Ti_{0.47})_{0.925}Fe_{0.075}$ alloy with BCC structure and the two plateau regions (the low and high plateau region) has been investigate during the temperature-induced hydrogen absorption-desorption cycling (thermal cycling). After 400 thermal cycles between room temperature and $600^{\circ}C$ under 10atm $H_2$, the total reversible hydrogen absorption capacity decreased by about 40%. From thermal desorption analysis it was found that the degradation behavior at each plateau region was different. In addition, XRD analysis showed that the crystal structure of the sample in de-hydrided state was changed from BCC to BCT after degradation, and that of the sample in hydrided state it was maintained as FCC although peaks were broadened after degradation. From the result of static isothermal hydrogenation treatment it were found that crystal structure change from BCC to BCT was caused by the thermal energy. TEM analysis showed that the peak broadening was due to the formation of an amorphous phase in FCC matrix.

한계전류밀도 이상에서 전기투석공정의 운전 (Operation of Electrodialysis at Over Limiting Current Density)

  • 이온교환막의 전압-전류곡선의 plateau length를 결정하는 변수를 다양한 NaCl 농도와 유속 하에서 연구하였다. 또한, 한계전류밀도 이상의 전류에서 전기투석공정 운전의 타당성을 검토하기 위해 다양한 전류밀도의 전원을 공급하면서 0.1 M NaCl 용액의 탈염실험을 실시하여 이온의 제거효율, 전류효율, 에너지소비량, 물 분해 현상을 측정하였다. NaCl 용액의 농도와 유속이 감소하면서 확산경계층의 두께도 함께 감소하였으며, 본 확산경계층의 두께는 plateau length와도 밀접한 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 탈염실험에서 측정된 이온 제거 효율 및 전류효율은 한계전류밀도 이상에서도 한계전류밀도 이하에서의 탈염실험과 크게 차이 나지 않은 것으로 보아 한계전류밀도 이상에서도 대부분의 전류는 이온교환막 표면의 물분해에 의한 것이 아니라 막을 통한 이온의 이동에 의한 것으로 사료된다. 한계전류밀도 이상에서의 탈염운전에 대한 에너지소비량은 plateau length의 영향으로 한계전류밀도 이하에서의 탈염운전 보다 다소 높지만, 한계전류밀도 이상에서는 전류밀도의 증가에도 에너지소비량이 증가하지 않았다. 이러한 결과들은 물분해 현상이 심각하게 일어나지 않는 한 한계전류밀도 이상에서도 매우 경제적으로 전기투석 공정을 운전찬 수 있다는 것을 제시해 주는 것이다.

Development of Ultral Clean Machining Technology with Electrolytic Polishing Process

  • Electrolytic polishing is the anodic dissolution process in the transpassive state. It removes non-metallic inclusion and improves mechanical and corrosion resistance of stainless steel. If there is a Bailby layer, it will be removed and the true structure of the surface will be restored. Electrolytic polishing is normally used to remove a very thin layer of material from the surface of metal object. A new electrolyte composed of phosphoric, sulfuric and distilled water has been developed in this study. Two current density, high & low current density regions, have been applied in this study. In this study, In the region of high current density, there is no plateau region but excellent electrolytic polishing effect can be accomplished in short machining time because material removel process and leveling process occur simultaneously. In the low current density region, there can be found plateau region. The material removal process and leveling process occur successively. The aim of this work is to determine electrolytic polishing for stainless steel in terms of high & low current density and workpiece surface roughness.

메탄/천연가스 하이드레이트의 제조 및 특성 비교 분석 (A Comparative Analysis on characteristics and Manufacture of Methane/Natural Gas Hydrates)

  • 이 연구는 단성분계(메탄)과 다성분계(천연가스) 하이드레이트의 상평형 조건을 관찰하고, 반응시간에 따른 하이드레이트 생성 거동을 관찰하여 비교 분석하였다. 단성분과 다성분계 하이드레이트의 차이점은 크게 유도지체시간과 안정 영역이다. 반응시 다성분계 하이드레이트는 가스의 성분들이 서로 다른 농도변화를 나타내었으며, 제조된 하이드레이트를 해리시켰을 때도 서로 다른 해리 속도에 의해 각 가스 성분들의 농도가 변화되었다. 압력이 6 MPa이고, 온도가 276.65 K이며, 교반속도가 600 rpm일때 다성분계 하이드레이트 제조시 메탄이외의 여러 가스 성분들에 의해 하이드레이트 핵 생성이 빠르게 진행되어 유도지체시간은 짧다. 그리고 단성분계 하이드레이트는 단일 성분으로 이루어져 있으므로 안정 영역이0.055 mole of $CH_4$/mole of water에서 보다 뚜렷하게 관찰되고, 다성분계 하이드레이트는 안정 영역이 0.04 mole of $CH_4/$mole of water에서 관찰된다.

Optimal Poultry Litter Management through GIS-based Transportation Analysis System

  • Concentrated poultry production in the State of Alabama, U.S.A. results in excessive poultry litter. Application of poultry litter to pastures and row crops serves as a cheap alternative to commercial fertilizer. However, over the years, poultry litter application to perennial forage crops in the Appalachian Plateau region of North Alabama has resulted in phosphorus (P) buildup in soils. Phosphorus index (P-index) and comprehensive nutrient management plans (CNMP) are often used as a best management practice (BMP) for proper land application of litter. Because nutrient management planning is often not done for small animal feeding operations (AFOs), and also because, in case of excess litter, litter transportation infrastructure has not been developed, over application of poultry litter to near by area is a common practice. To alleviate this problem, optimal poultry litter management and transportation infrastructure needs to be developed. This paper presents a methodology to optimize poultry litter application and transportation through efficient nutrient management planning and transportation network analysis. The goal was accomplished through implementation of three important modules, a P-Index module, a CNMP module, and a transportation network analysis module within ArcGIS, a Geographic Information System (GIS). The CNMP and P-Index modules assist with land application of poultry litter at a rate that is protective of water quality, while the transportation network analysis module helps transport excess litter to areas requiring litter in the Appalachian Plateau and Black Belt (a nutrient-deficient area) regions. Once fully developed and implemented, such a system will help alleviate water quality problems in the Appalachian Plateau region and poor soil fertility problems in the Black Belt region by optimizing land application and transportation. The utility of the methodology is illustrated through a hypothetical case study.

한국에 출현한 황사의 발원지별 기상 특성 분석 (The Analysis of the Weather Characteristics by Source Region of the Asian Dust Observed in South Korea)

  • 본 연구에서는 한국에 출현한 황사 발원지별로 기상 특성을 파악하였다. 이를 위하여 한국의 일별 황사자료와 발원지의 일별 기상자료를 이용하여 한국에 황사 출현 시의 발원지 기상상태를 분석하였다. 한국에 출현한 황사 중 네이멍구에서 발원한 황사의 빈도가 가장 높다. 황토고원을 제외한 발원지에서 출현한 황사 일수가 최근 증가하고 있으며, 한국의 전국에 영향을 미친 빈도가 높았다. 황토고원의 경우 1960년대의 출현빈도가 가장 높았으며, 한국의 남부지방에 영향을 미친 빈도가 높았다. 한국의 황사 발생일수와 발원지의 봄철 및 4월 기상요소와 유의한 관계가 있다. 네이멍구에서 발원한 황사 발생일과 4월 해면기압, 봄철 상대습도와 음의 관계가 있다. 고비에서 발원한 황사 발생일과 4월 돌풍일수와 양의 관계이며, 4월 해면기압과 음의 관계이다. 만주에서 발원한 황사 발생일과 4월 강수량, 해면기압과는 음의 관계이다. 황토고원에서 발원한 황사 발생일과 4월 최대풍속과는 양의 관계이며, 해면기압과는 음의 관계이다.

Spatial distribution of vegetation along the environmental gradient on the coastal cliff and plateau of Janggi peninsula (Homigot), southeastern Korea

  • Background: Cliffs are a major plant habitat around the coastal area, but in contrast to sand dunes and salt marshes, they have been little investigated in Korea. There are simple descriptions of cliff vegetation in studies on island vegetation, but there is no published paper, which addressed sea cliff vegetation synthetically. Furthermore, the coastal area where this study was carried out was designated as a conservation reserve. Even though, this area is exposed to intense recreational use such as trekking in these days. This study aims to clarify spatial distribution and structure of vegetation along the environmental gradient on coastal cliff and plateau in the Janggi peninsula (Homigot) located on southeastern Korea. Further, this study has also another objective to prepare a restoration plan to protect this conservation reserve from intense human disturbance. Results: Landscape elements were arranged in the order of sea cliff risen directly on the sea, seashore, coastal cliff, and plateau covered with relatively deep soil in a coastal area of the Janggi peninsula (Homigot), southeastern Korea. Vegetation was sampled at 59 plots arranged from the sea cliff through the seashore and coastal cliff to plateau. The sea cliff, seashore, and coastal cliff, which compose the coastal landscape, were dominated by the seashore spatulate aster (Aster spathulifolius Maxim.) community, dwarf sand sedge (Carex pumila Thunb.) community, and seashore spatulate aster (Aster spathulifolius Maxim.) community. On the plateau corresponding to the ridge of the coastal cliff, black pine (Pinus thunbergii Parl.) community, golden rain tree (Koelreuteria paniculata Laxmann) community, east Asian hackberry (Celtis sinensis Pers.) community, sawleaf zelkova (Zelkova serrata Makino) community, and Korean oak (Quercus dentata Thunb.) community were established in the mentioned order along distance from the sea. Stand ordination showed a vegetation sequence from the seashore through the cliff to the plateau, consistent in its overall pattern among sites. This was dominated by topography. There is evidence for the importance also of salinity, drought and of soil depth. Conclusion: The lack of scientific interest in cliffs to date is in striking contrast to the commonness of cliffs around the whole national territory and to the attraction cliffs have had for humans throughout history. Cliffs provide a unique habitat, rarely investigated from an ecological viewpoint. Cliffs may represent an invaluable type of ecosystem, consisting of some of the least disturbed habitats on earth and contributing more to the biodiversity of a region than their surface coverage would indicate. Although this coastal area where this study was carried out was designated as a conservation reserve, this area is in danger of severe disturbance due to excessive recreational use. We recommended a restoration plan to protect this area from such a disturbance.

Aging 과정 중 하드록시프로필화 쌀전분의 동적 레올로지 특성 (Dynamic Rheological Properties of Hydroxypropylated Rice Starches during the Aging Process)

  • 치환도를 달리한 하이드록시프로필화 쌀전분의 동적 레올로지 특성이 소변형 진동측정방법(small-deformation oscillatory measurement)에 의해 관찰되었다. Aging 전 $4^{\circ}C$에서 측정된 저장탄성률 G#과 손실탄성률 G"의 값은 치환도(0.030-0.118)가 증가함에 따라 증가하였으며, 반면에 tan ${\delta}5(G"/G#)$는 감소하였다 $4^{\circ}C$에서 10시간 aging하는 동안 하이드록시프로필화 쌀전분의 G#값은 초기 단계에서 급속히 증가한 다음 곧 바로 2시간이내에 안정기(plateau) 영역에 도달하였다. 그러나 천연전분(native starch)은 10시간 동안의 aging후에도 안정기 영역이 관측되지 않았다. 치환도의 증가는 하이드록시프로필화 쌀전분의 안정기 G#값의 감소를 초래하였다. Aging하는 동안의 구조전개 속도상수 K는 1차 kinetics식으로부터 얻어졌으며, 하이드록시프로필화 쌀전분의 K값은 높은 치환도에서 낮은 수치를 보여주었다.
