The colonization pattern and extent of decay produced in paddy stubble by soil inhabiting mycoflora were done by using nylon net bag technique. Among the three methods used for isolation of fungi, dilution plate technique recorded the highest number of fungi followed by damp chamber and direct observation method. Nutrient availability and climatic conditions (temperature, humidity and rainfall) influenced the occurrence and colonization pattern of fungi. Maximum fungal population was recorded in October ($48.99{\times}10^4/g$ dry litter) and minimum in May ($11.41{\times}10^4/g$ dry litter). Distribution of Deuteromycetous fungi was more in comparison to Zygomycetes, oomycetes and ascomycetes. In the early stage of decomposition Mucor racemosus, Rhizopus nigricans, Chaetomium globosum and Gliocladium species were found primarly whereas at later stages of decomposition preponderance of Aspergillus candidus, Torula graminis, Cladosporiun cladosporioides and Aspergillus luchuensis was recorded.
In this research, an effective computational technique is carried out for nonlinear and post-buckling analyses of cracked imperfect composite plates. The laminated plates are assumed to be moderately thick so that the analysis can be carried out based on the first-order shear deformation theory. Geometric non-linearity is introduced in the way of von-Karman assumptions for the strain-displacement equations. The Ritz technique is applied using Legendre polynomials for the primary variable approximations. The crack is modeled by partitioning the entire domain of the plates into several sub-plates and therefore the plate decomposition technique is implemented in this research. The penalty technique is used for imposing the interface continuity between the sub-plates. Different out-of-plane essential boundary conditions such as clamp, simply support or free conditions will be assumed in this research by defining the relevant displacement functions. For in-plane boundary conditions, lateral expansions of the unloaded edges are completely free while the loaded edges are assumed to move straight but restricted to move laterally. With the formulation presented here, the plates can be subjected to biaxial compressive loads, therefore a sensitivity analysis is performed with respect to the applied load direction, along the parallel or perpendicular to the crack axis. The integrals of potential energy are numerically computed using Gauss-Lobatto quadrature formulas to get adequate accuracy. Then, the obtained non-linear system of equations is solved by the Newton-Raphson method. Finally, the results are presented to show the influence of crack length, various locations of crack, load direction, boundary conditions and different values of initial imperfection on nonlinear and post-buckling behavior of laminates.
The flow characteristics in a confined slot jet impinging on a flat plate were investigated by using cinematic Particle Image Velocimetry technique. The jet Reynolds number was varied from 250 to 1000 for a fixed jet-to-plate spacing of H/W=5. We found that the vortical structures in the shear layer are developed with increase of Reynolds number and that the jet becomes unsteady by the interaction of vortex pairs between 500 and 750 of Reynolds number. Vortical structures and their temporal evolution are verified by using proper orthogonal decomposition.

Generally, estimations on the displacement as an important factor in evaluating the safety of large structures could be a barometer assessing whether the condition of the structure is deteriorating. Practically, it is not easy how to measure the displacement response to large structures like suspension bridges. In this study, as a method for estimation displacement response from strain signals, mode decomposition technique is proposed. Total displacement response is estimated by superposing quasistatic displacement response and modal displacement responses in dominant modes with larger contributions after estimating the modal displacement responses. If foiled strain gauges are used to measure strain signals, there would likely to generate electric noise, what's more, the more measuring points there are the more economic burden it could be. In order to solve such problems, fiber optic bragg-grating(FBG) sensors were used, which have multi-point measurements with no effect on electric noises. Therefore, the experiment was performed through dynamic load test of suspension bridge and plate-girder bridge to review the possibility for using mode decomposition technique.
The aim of the present article is to study the micropolar thermoelastic interactions in an infinite Kelvin-Voigt type viscoelastic thermally conducting plate. The coupled dynamic thermoelasticity and generalized theories of thermoelasticity, namely, Lord and Shulman's and Green and Lindsay's are employed by assuming the mechanical behaviour as dynamic to study the problem. The model has been simplified by using Helmholtz decomposition technique and the resulting equations have been solved by using variable separable method to obtain the secular equations in isolated mathematical conditions for homogeneous isotropic micropolar thermo-viscoelastic plate for symmetric and skew-symmetric wave modes. The dispersion curves, attenuation coefficients, amplitudes of stresses and temperature distribution for symmetric and skew-symmetric modes are computed numerically and presented graphically for a magnesium crystal.
This research is devoted to study post-buckling analysis of functionally graded carbon nanotubes reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) micro plate with cut out subjected to magnetic field and resting on elastic medium. The basic formulation of plate is based on first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and the material properties of FG-CNTRCs are presumed to be changed through the thickness direction, and are assumed based on rule of mixture; moreover, nonlocal Eringen's theory is applied to consider the size-dependent effect. It is considered that the system is embedded in elastic medium and subjected to longitudinal magnetic field. Energy approach, domain decomposition and Rayleigh-Ritz methods in conjunction with Newton-Raphson iterative technique are employed to trace the post-buckling paths of FG-CNTRC micro cut out plate. The influence of some important parameters such as small scale effect, cut out dimension, different types of FG distributions of CNTs, volume fraction of CNTs, aspect ratio of plate, magnitude of magnetic field, elastic medium and biaxial load on the post-buckling behavior of system are calculated. With respect to results, it is concluded that the aspect ratio and length of square cut out have negative effect on post-buckling response of micro composite plate. Furthermore, existence of CNTs in system causes improvement in the post-buckling behavior of plate and different distributions of CNTs in plate have diverse response. Meanwhile, nonlocal parameter and biaxial compression load on the plate has negative effect on post-buckling response. In addition, imposing magnetic field increases the post-buckling load of the microstructure.
Ultrasonic pulse echo method comes to be difficult to apply to the multi-layered structure with very thin layer, because the echoes from the top and the bottom of the layer are overlapped. Conventionally method, deconvolution technique has been used for the decomposition of overlapped UT signals, however it has disabilities when the waveform of the transmitted signal is distorted according to the propagation. In this paper, the wavelet transform based deconvolution (WTBD) technique is proposed as a new signal processing method that can decompose the overlapped echo signals in A-Scan signal with superior performances compared to the conventional deconvolution technique. Performances of the proposed method are shown by through computer simulations using model signal with noise and are demonstrated by through experiments for the fabricated acryl rod with a thin steel plate bonded to it.
Analytical solutions to problems are crucial because they provide high-quality comparison data for assessing the accuracy of numerical solutions. Benchmark analytical solutions for the vibrations of cracked functionally graded material (FGM) plates are not available in the literature because of the high level of complexity of such solutions. On the basis of first-order shear deformation plate theory (FSDT), this study proposes analytical series solutions for the vibrations of FGM rectangular plates with side or internal cracks parallel to an edge of the plates by using Fourier cosine series and the domain decomposition technique. The distributions of FGM properties along the thickness direction are assumed to follow a simple power law. The proposed analytical series solutions are validated by performing comprehensive convergence studies on the vibration frequencies of cracked square plates with various crack lengths and under various boundary condition combinations and by performing comparisons with published results based on various plate theories and the theory of three-dimensional elasticity. The results reveal that the proposed solutions are in excellent agreement with literature results obtained using the Ritz method on the basis of FSDT. The paper also presents tabulations of the first six nondimensional frequencies of cracked rectangular Al/Al2O3 FGM plates with various aspect ratios, thickness-to-width ratios, crack lengths, and FGM power law indices under six boundary condition combinations, the tabulated frequencies can serve as benchmark data for assessing the accuracy of numerical approaches based on FSDT.

This paper introduces a new technique that can extract natural frequencies and damping ratios from output-only vibration data. Firstly, the free vibration data is obtained from the cross correlations of the output-only response data using a singular value decomposition process. Secondly, the well-known system identification algorithm is applied to extract the natural frequencies and damping ratios from the extracted free vibration data. Comparing to ERADC technique, the accuracy of the proposed modal parameter identification algorithm has been numerically examined. Furthermore, the practicability of the proposed algorithm has been examined through the output-only acceleration data collected from the Seohae cable-stayed bridge. Using the proposed technique, total 24 modes have been identified for the deck plate motions of the bridge.

In this paper, an efficient model reduction scheme is presented for large scale dynamic systems. The method is founded on a modal analysis in which optimal eigenvalue is extracted from time samples of the given system response. The techniques we discuss are based on classical theory such as the Karhunen-Loeve expansion. Only recently has it been applied to structural dynamics problems. It consists in obtaining a set of orthogonal eigenfunctions where the dynamics is to be projected. Practically, one constructs a spatial autocorrelation tensor and then performs its spectral decomposition. The resulting eigenfunctions will provide the required proper orthogonal modes(POMs) or empirical eigenmodes and the correspondent empirical eigenvalues (or proper orthogonal values, POVs) represent the mean energy contained in that projection. The purpose of this paper is to compare the reduced order model using Karhunen-Loeve expansion with the full model analysis. A cantilever beam and a simply supported plate subjected to sinusoidal force demonstrated the validity and efficiency of the reduced order technique by K-L method.
