  • To investigate the behavior of platic deformation inaxisymmetric hot extrusion through square dies, the physical modelling with the plasticine as a model material is carried out at the room temperature. Some mechanical properties of the model material are determined by compression and ring compression tests. Visioplasticity method using experimetal grid distortion is introduced to anlayze the plastic flow, strain rate and strain distribution.

  • A batch process in which transfer bars are rolled in single bar units involves many problems in terms of quality, yield and threading stability. The endless rolling process is an effective solution to such problems. In this, study, an analysis model is proposed to calculate the distribution of normal stress in endless rolling process. The model was examined by comparing with the result of experiment. A device using the spring is developed for improving the welding quality.

  • Computer simulation of microstructure evolution during hot forging process is of great interest in recent years. Recrystallization model and grain growth model which use a phenomenological approach were summarized. For the waspaloy, upsetting process and cogging process were simulated using $DEFORM^{TM}$ and the change in grain size were investigated in each deformation procedure.

  • In this paper on-line model is derived from investigating via series of finite element process simulation. Some variables that little affect on non-dimensional parameters. ie. forward slip and torque factor. is extracted from composing on-line model Especially, this research focused on deriving on-line model which exactly predict roll force and roll power in the roughing mill process under small shape factor and small reduction ratio. The prediction accuracy of the proposed model is examined through comparison with predictions from a finite element process model

  • In hot strip rolling, sound prediction of the temperature of the strip is vital for achieving the desired finishing mill draft temperature (FDT). In this paper, a precision on-line model for the prediction of temperature distributions along the thickness of the strip in the finishing mill is presented. The model consists of an analytic model for the prediction of temperature distributions in the inter-stand zone, and a semi-analytic model for the prediction of temperature distributions in the bite zone in which thermal boundary conditions as well as heat generation due to deformation are predicted by finite element-based, approximate models. The prediction accuracy of the proposed model is examined through comparison with predictions from a finite element process model.

  • In transportation geotechnical engineering, stress-strain behavior of earth structures has been analyzed by numerical simulations with the implemented plasticity constitutive model. It is a fact that many advanced plasticity constitutive models on predicting the mechanical behavior of soils have been developed as well as experimental research works for geotechnical applications in the past decades. In this study, recently developed, a unified constitutive model for both clay and sand, which is referred to as CASM (clay and sand model), was compared with a classical constitutive model, Cam-Clay model. Moreover, integration methods of stress-strain rate equations using CASM were presented for simulation of undrained and drained triaxial compression tests. As a conclusion, it was observed that semi-implicit integration method has more improved accuracy of capturing strain rate response to applied stress than explicit integration by the multiple correction and iteration.

  • A new experimental model for determining drawbead forces, which modifies the dieface of Nine's experimental model, is introduced and the better validity of the drawbead opening and restraining forces of new model than those of Nine's is demonstrated. While Nine's model considers a blank holding force as one of forming variables, new model excludes it by removing blank holder in the dieface. The comparison of the strains found by FEM simulation of automotive fender draw forming process with those measured in a formed panel recommends the new model for accurate drawbead forces.

  • In this work, we present the development of a 3D lattice-type model at microscale based upon the Voronoi-cell representation of material microstructure. This model can capture the coupling between mechanic and electric fields with non-linear constitutive behavior for both. More precisely, for electric part we consider the ferroelectric constitutive behavior with the possibility of domain switching polarization, which can be handled in the same fashion as deformation theory of plasticity. For mechanics part, we introduce the constitutive model of plasticity with the Armstrong-Frederick kinematic hardening. This model is used to simulate a complete coupling of the chosen electric and mechanics behavior with a multiscale approach implemented within the same computational architecture.

  • The field of fracture mechanics has gained significance because of its ability to address the behaviour of cracks. Predicting the fracture properties of concrete based on experimental investigations is a challenge considering the quasi-brittle nature of concrete. So, there is a need for developing a standard numerical tool which predicts the fracture energy of concrete which is at par with experimental results. The present study is an attempt to evaluate the fracture energy and characteristic length for different grades of concrete using Concrete Damage Plasticity (CDP) model. Indian Standard and EUROCODE are used for the basic input parameters of concrete. Numerical evaluation is done using Finite Element Analysis Software ABAQUS/CAE. Hsu & Hsu and Saenz stress-strain models are adopted for the current study. Mesh sensitivity analysis is also carried to study the influence of type and size of elements on the overall accuracy of the solution. Different input parameters like dilatation angle, eccentricity are varied and their effect on fracture properties is addressed. The results indicated that the fracture properties of concrete for various grades can be accurately predicted without laboratory tests using CDP model.
