수소 플라즈마 에칭과 탄소 확산법에 의한 다이아몬드막 표면의 평탄화 (Planarization of the Diamond Film Surface by Using the Hydrogen Plasma Etching with Carbon Diffusion Process)

  • 철, 코발트, 니켈 합금을 이용한 탄소확산-수소플라즈마 에칭법으로 다이아몬드 자체막의 표면을 매우 평탄하게 할 수 있었다. 이 방법에서의 다이아몬드 자체막을 합금과 몰리브데늄 기판 사이에 위치시켜 금속-다이아몬드-몰리브데늄(MDM) 샌드위치 형태의 샘플 세 트를 이루게 하였다. 이 샘플세트를 마이크로 웨이브 플라즈마 장치에 장착하여 수소 플라즈마를 발생시켜서 기판온도가 섭씨 1,000 이상이 되도록 하였다. 이와 같은 과정들은 탄소확산-수소플라즈마 방법이라고 하였다. 다이아몬드 자체막 표면을 에칭한 후 표면 거칠기, 표면형상, 에칭한 다이아몬드 표면속의 불순물의 침투를 조사하였다. 결론적으로, 탄소 확산-수소 플라즈마 에칭법은 전자 디바이스에 응용할 수 있는 매우 평탄한 다이아몬드 표면을 형성시키는 방법임을 알 수 있다.

실크 단백질 Sericin 및 Fibroin의 식이 공급이 아토피 피부염 동물 모델 NC/Nga Mice의 혈장과 표피의 유리 아미노산 함량에 미치는 영향 (Dietary Effect of Silk Protein Sericin or Fibroin on Plasma and Epidermal Amino Acid Concentration of NC/Nga Mice)

  • Free amino acids in epidermis function as a major component of Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF), which maintains the optimal level of water in skin even at the low humidity. In fact, the depletion of free amino acids is reported in the epidermis of atopic dermatitis, the skin condition involving dryness. As an effort searching the dietary source for improving the level of water and free amino acid in epidermis, the dietary effects of silk protein, sericin (S) and fibroin (F) on trans epidermal water loss (TEWL), and plasma and epidermal levels of free amino acids were compared in this study. Thirty of male NC/Nga mice, an animal model of atopic dermatitis, were divided into three groups: group CA as an atopic control with control diet, group S: 1% sericin diet and group F: 1% fibroin diet. Ten of male BALB/c mice were served as group C (control group) with control diet. All mice were fed on diet and water ad libitum for 10weeks. Dry skin condition was established in group CA as TEWL was increased (148.7% of group C). In parallel, epidermal level of glutamate, one of major amino acids functioning as NMF, was dramatically decreased and epidermal levels of methionine and alanine were inversely elevated. Dietary supplementation of sericin (group S) reduced TEWL at the similar level with group C and increased epidermal levels of glutamate as well as serine and glycine, the other major amino acids as NMF. Despite a marked decrease of methionine and alanine, the reduction of TEWL and epidermal levels of glutamate, serine and glycine of group F were less than of group S. Furthermore, in contrast to similar levels of other free amino acids in plasma and epidermis of group S and group C, plasma and epidermal levels of other free amino acids, specifically phenylalanine, isoleucine, cysteine and tyrosine in epidermis of group F, were significantly higher than of group C. Together, our data demonstrate that dietary supplementation of sericin is more effective at improving dry skin condition that paralleled with the normalization of free amino acids in plasma and epidermis of NC/Nga mice.

Prediction of Anode Temperatures of Free Burning Arcs Using a Simplified Unified Model

  • Free burning arcs where the work piece acts as an anode are frequently used for a number of applications. Our investigation is exclusively concerned with a simplified unified model of arcs and anode under steady state conditions at atmospheric pressure. The model is used to make predictions of arc and anode temperatures and arc voltage for a 200 A arc in argon. The computed temperatures along the axis between the cathode tip and the anode surface compare well the measured data. This knowledge of free burning arcfeatures can play a role in developing the atmospheric plasma systems, however, further investigation should include the modelling of Cu evaporation from anode and non-LTE situation near electrodes for more realistic calculations.

  • The electromagnetic fields radiated from an aperture on a conducting plance covered with a moving uniaxial plasma layer are analyzed. From wave equations in moving plasma and free space region, their solutions are obtained and radiation fields are determined by applying proper boundary conditions in each region. For a particular case of isotropic plasma layer, our results correspond to well-known results.

  • Urgency of using plasma-energy technologies in power industry, is outlined, increasing of economical efficiency, decreasing of energy consumption and decreasing of environmental pollution, are shown, scientific and technical bases for plasma-energy technologies of fuel utilisation, are designed, results of theoretical, experimental and rig investigations of processes of plasma ignition, gasification, thermochemical preparation for burning and combined processing of coals, are presented, results of realisation of plasma technologies of residual-oil-free (mazout) pulverised-coal boiler kindling, lighting of torch and stabilisation of luid slagging in furnaces with removal of fluid slag, are described.

Effects of Dietary Garlic Extracts on Whole Body Amino Acid and Fatty Acid Composition, Muscle Free Amino Acid Profiles and Blood Plasma Changes in Juvenile Sterlet Sturgeon, Acipenser ruthenus

  • A series of studies were carried out to investigate the supplemental effects of dietary garlic extracts (GE) on whole body amino acids, whole body and muscle free amino acids, fatty acid composition and blood plasma changes in 6 month old juvenile sterlet sturgeon (Acipenser ruthenus). In the first experiment, fish with an average body weight of 59.6 g were randomly allotted to each of 10 tanks (two groups of five replicates, 20 fish/tank) and fed diets with (0.5%) or without (control) GE respectively, at the level of 2% of fish body weight per day for 5 wks. Whole body amino acid composition between the GE and control groups were not different (p>0.05). Among free amino acids in muscle, L-glutamic acid, L-alanine, L-valine, L-leucine and L-phenylalanine were significantly (p<0.05) higher in GE than in control. However, total whole body free amino acids were significantly lower in GE than in control (p<0.05). GE group showed higher EPA (C22:6n3) and DHA (C22:5n3) in their whole body than the other group (p<0.05). In the second experiment, the effects of dietary garlic extracts on blood plasma changes were investigated using 6 month old juvenile sterlet sturgeon averaging 56.5 g. Fish were randomly allotted to each of 2 tanks (300 fish/tank) and fed diets with (0.5%) or without (control) GE respectively, at the rate of 2% of body weight per day for 23 d. At the end of the feeding trial, blood was taken from the tail vein (n = 5, per group) at 1, 12, and 24 h after feeding, respectively. Blood plasma glucose, insulin and the other serological characteristics were also measured to assess postprandial status of the fish. Plasma glucose concentrations (mg/dl) between two groups (GE vs control) were significantly (p< 0.05) different at 1 (50.8 vs 62.4) and 24 h (57.6 vs 73.6) after feeding, respectively, while no significant difference (p>0.05) were noticed at 12 h (74.6 vs 73.0). Plasma insulin concentrations (${\mu}IU$/ml) between the two groups were significantly (p<0.05) different at 1 (10.56 vs 5.06) and 24 h (32.56 vs 2.96) after feeding. The present results suggested that dietary garlic extracts could increase dietary glucose utilization through the insulin secretion, which result in improved fish body quality and feed utilization by juvenile sterlet sturgeon.

Post Prandial Plasma Free Arginine Concentrations Increase in Rainbow Trout Fed Arginine-deficient Diets

  • Three experiments were conducted to determine the effects of dietary arginine concentrations on plasma free amino acid (PAA) concentrations in rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss (Walbaum). The first experiment was conducted to determine appropriate post-prandial and food deprivation sampling times in dorsal aorta cannulated rainbow trout averaging 519${\pm}$9.5 g (mean${\pm}$SD) at $16^{\circ}C$. Blood samples were taken at 0, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 24 h after feeding (0 and 24 h blood samples were taken from the same group of fish). PAA concentrations increased by 2 h post-feeding and the concentration of all essential amino acids except histidine peaked at 5 h and returned to 0 time values by 24 h. In the second experiment dorsal aorta cannulated rainbow trout averaging 528${\pm}$11.3 g (mean${\pm}$SD) were divided into 6 groups of 4 fish to study the effect of dietary arginine levels on PAA. After 24 h food deprivation, each group of fish was fed one of six L-amino acid diets containing graded levels of arginine (0.48, 1.08, 1.38, 1.68, 1.98 or 2.58%) by intubation. Blood samples were taken at 0, 5 and 24 h after feeding. Post-prandial (5 h after feeding) plasma-free arginine concentrations (PParg) showed a breakpoint at 1.03% arginine in the diet and post-absorptive (24 h after feeding) plasma free-arginine concentrations (PAarg) showed a breakpoint at 1.38% arginine. PAarg increased linearly from fish fed diets containing arginine between 0.48% and 1.38%, and the concentrations remained constant from fish fed diets containing arginine at or above 1.38%, but were all below PParg at all time points. Results of the third experiment confirm the results that PParg concentrations from fish fed arginine deficient diets were higher than PAarg (0 or 24 h values). Thus, in contrast to mammals and birds, the PParg when arginine is present in the diet as the most limiting amino acid such that it severely limits growth, increases in plasma rather than decreases.

  • Silicon carbide (SiC) has recently drawn an enormous industrial interest because of its useful mechanical properties such as thermal resistance, abrasion resistance and thermal conductivity at high temperature. RF Thermal plasma (PL-35 Induction Plasma, Tekna CO., Canada) has been utilized for synthesis of high purity SiC powder from cheap inorganic solution (Tetraethyl Orthosilicate, TEOS). It is found that the powders by thermal plasma consist of SiC with free carbon and amorphous silica ($SiO_2$) and, by thermal treatment and HF treatment, the impurities are driven off resulting high purity SiC nano-powder. The synthesized SiC powder lies below 30 nm and its properties such microstructure, phase composition, specific surface area and free carbon content have been characterized by X-ay diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), thermogravimetric (TG) and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET).

  • In whole world consciousness of environment maintenance have increased very quickly for the end of the 20th century. To use and disuse toxic substances have been controled at the field of industry. Also the field of lighting source belong to environmental control. And in the future the control will be strong. In radiational mechanism of fluorescence lamp mechanism is the worst environmental problem. In radiational mechanism of fluorescence lamp mercury is the worst environmental problem root. In the mercury free lighting source system the Xe gas lamp is one type. And the Ne:Xe mixing gas lamp improvements firing voltage of Xe gas lamp. Purpose and subject of this study are understand, efficiency, ideal of Ne:Xe plasma which mercury free lamp. Before ICP was designed, basic parameters of plasma, which are electron temperature and electron density, were measured and calculated by Langmuir probe data. Property of electron temperature and electron density were confirmed by changing ratio of Ne:Xe.

크릴과 카드뮴이 콜레스텔롤 식이 흰쥐의 혈장지질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Krill and Cadmium on Lipid Composition of Plasma in Cholesterol-Fed Rats)

  • 크릴 및 카드뮴이 콜레스테롤 식이 흰주의 혈장 지질 성분에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여, Spragu-Dawley계의 숫쥐를 8식이군으로 나누어 4주간 사육하였다. 혈장중 콜레스테롤, 인지질 및 중성지질 농도에서 5%이하의 크릴식이첨가군은 대조군과 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 카드뮴투여군은 대조군에 비하여 혈장중 중성지질(1.6배), 유리콜레스테롤(1.6배), 지단백(1.4배) 및 총콜레스테롤(1.3배)의 농도가 증가되었으며, HDL-콜레스테롤 농도는 약 1.6배 정도 낮았다. 카드뮴식이군에서 크릴첨가는 혈장의 총콜레스테롤, 유리 콜레스테롤, 지단백 및 중성지질의 농도를 오히려 증가시키는 결과를 초래하였다.
