This experiment was conducted to investigate the aspect of tiller occurrence, growth and yield of sorghum according to planting density and sowing date. The subject of this experiment is to supply basic data to inhibit non-productive tillers uneconomical and cumbersome for mechanical harvesting. Also another subject was to evaluate optimum planting density and sowing date in central district area. Total number of tillers was more in 80cm ridge than 60cm ridge and it was increased as the planting distance was wider from 15cm to 30cm on the each ridge. Ratio of effective tillers was higher in 60cm ridge than 80cm ridge and it was decreased as planting distance was wider from 15cm to 30cm. The lower the planting density, the more increased total number of tillers, whereas effective tillers were decreased as planting density was high. Average of total number of tillers of three varieties was higher in sowing date of 2 May (1st sowing date), whereas ratio of effective tillers was the highest in sowing date of 23 May (2nd sowing date). Hwanggeumchal showed the highest total number of tillers (1.2 tillers), while Moktaksusu had the lowest total number of tillers (0.8 tillers) among three varieties. There were no significant difference between planting density and days to heading and ripening date from seeding. Culm length increased as planting density was high, but ear length, grains per ear and 1000 grain weight were decreased on the other hand. The highest yield of sorghum per 10a was obtained from $60{\times}20cm$ planting density among 6 planting densities.

This experiment was conducted to elucidate the relation-ship between vertical distribution of rice roots and yield traits under field conditions. Eight IRRI's new plant type rices (NPTRs) were tested in a volcanic ash soil paddy field under dense (IO 10 cm) and common (20 20 cm) planting densities. These lines were evaluated to have more spikelet numbers per panicle (SNP), lower filled grain rate (FGR), and lower rough grain weight per hill (RGWH). In dense planting, rough grain weight per stem (RGWS) was increased due to heavier culm and leaf dry weight (CLDW), and both RGWS and CLDW were related with the percentage of root distribution (%RWI) in the 10~30 cm soil layer, while in common planting, RGWS was not closely related with CLDW. SNP was highly related with root dry weight (RDW) in the 0~10cm soil layer. FGR was mainly affected by ROW in the 10~30 cm soil layer under both planting densities. RGWS was positively correlated with top dry weight (TDW) and harvest index (HI), and TDW was positively correlated with RWI under common planting or %RWI under dense planting, and HI was positively correlated with RWI in the 10~30 cm soil layer only under dense planting. RGWS was closely related with root weight index by dry weight (RWI) in the 10~30 cm soil layer and %RWI in the 0~30 cm or 10~30 cm soil layer under dense planting, and with only RWI in the 10~30 cm soil layer under common planting. But RGWH showed the close positive relationship with RDW and RWI in the 10~30 cm soil layer under dense planting, while under common planting, it showed the close positive relationship with RWI and %RWI in the 10~30 cm soil layer or %RWI in the 0~30 cm soil layer. The deeper root system in rice, especially under dense planting, is important for high yield of NPTRs focusing on the increment of top mass production and harvest index.
This study was investigated to find out the optimum planting densities fo Solanum njrum L. about growth characters. yield components and yield at 6 planting densities by direct sowing culture. The results obtained are summarized as follows: Studying the correlationship. the highly negative significances were found between planting densities and fresh eights weights per plant, on the other hand, the highly positive significances were found between planting densities and plant height. Plant height was long in dense planting, and short in spacious planting by direct sowing culture. Stem diameter was thick in spacious planting. and was thin in dense planting. Fresh wt. per plant was decreased in dense planting and was increased in spacious planting by direct sowing culture. Yield was highest in dense planting densities (10 x 20cm : 50plants/$m^2$) by direct sowing culture. Fertilizing ((N: P$_2$O$_{5}$$K_2$O=6 : 6 : 6Kg/10a) was increased than without fertilizing because plant height and number of branch was good.d.

Jeju Italian millet was grown at five planting densities(5$\times$5, 15$\times$15, 20$\times$20, 25cm) form May 13 to Aug. 14, 2000 at jeju island to determine influence of planting density on agronomic characters, forage yield and quality. Days to heading increased from 87 to 89 days as planting density was decreased. In 5$\times$5cm planting density plot, plant height was 185.4cm and it was gradually decreased as planting density was increased. So in 30$\times$30cm planting density plot, plant height was 173cm. As planting density increased, stem diameter, the number of nodes per plant, the umber of leaves, leaf width and SPAD reading values was increased, the longer leaf length as the broader planting density. Fresh forage yield increased from 29.99 to 55.01MT/ha, dry matter(DM) yield from 8.04 to 15.59MT/ha, crude protein(CP) yield from 0.78 to 2.26MT/ha and total digestible nutrients(TDN) yield from 3.65 to 7.93MT/ha as planting density was decreased. Crude protein content increased from 9.8 to 14.5% ether extract comtent from 1.4 to 1.9%, nitrogen free extract content from 38.4% to 38.9% and TDN content from 45.4 to 50.9%, but crude fiber content decreased from 34.5 to 30.1% and crude ash content from 9.1 to 8.0% as planting density was decreased.

This study was conducted to grasp the present condition of the name and the related text of the domestic laws (97 statutes, 1 examination, 1 guide, 3 ordinances, 1 leading case) in force which were connected with landscape plant and planting. Examining the general tree-planting system of America, the related foreign laws(1 constitution, 44 statutes, 31 ordinances, 6 leading cases) were arranged in the name and the text and classified by nations of regional groups and it was considered to the mutual relation with lots of laws which are scattered with the various laws. To examine the points at issue of the related domestic laws and to study the related foreign laws, the remedies for the domestic laws being at issue were proposed. That is : A change of the landscape planting concept, the introduction of the landscape planting cost compared with the total construction cost, the unification of the landscape planting ordinances as the unit of city, the clarification of the completion period for the depect of the replaced trees. putting the conservation and production of the top soil under an obligation the adoption of a licence system for the tree planting within the river area, the introduction of the allotment system for landscape architectural expenses, the encouragement of making a hedge, the settlement for the problems of the trees loss compensation, the necessity for the quality test to the landscape planting works, the intensification of the punitive rules to the illegal felling and planting of the trees in the greenzone area, the application of the Labor Standard Act to the landscape planting laborers. The laws relating to landscape plant and planting are prescribed dispersedly in the many other related laws and it is concluded to be impossible for the legislation of the singular law which is applied uniformly to the department of the tree-planting. Hereafter it should be required to analyze concretely in detail the each text of the related laws by means of the joint studies between the professional landscape architects and the lawyers.

This paper categorized the functions of and investigated the characteristics of planting in Pyeonghwa Park near the Seoul World Cup Stadium as a preliminary study for improving tree planting in the park. The functions of planting were deduced based on related theoretical studies and an analysis of the intention of design and environmental factors. The characteristics of planting were analyzed after drawing the distribution and stratification of dominant planting species and setting samples by function. The functions of planting were classified into natural landscape planting, buffer planting, and shade planting. For dominant planting species, pine trees and elm-like trees have been widely observed while various species in addition to pine trees in natural landscape planting areas have been introduced in terms of the function of planting. These trees that were randomly planted before the park was developed have been obstacles in the formation of natural landscapes. For buffer planting and topographical correction, tall trees were planted. However, it seems that comprehensive complementary measures should be taken on the under-story planting.
This experiment was carried out to investigate the proper planting method of Rehmannia glutinasa Liboschitz. A Chungbuk local cultivar was sown on the seed bed of 200cm with the planting density of 30cm(6 rows) $\times$ 8.5cm(30 rhizome per $\textrm{m}^2$). The experimental design was randomized block design with 3 replications. And the result was summarized as follows. The emergence date of level Planting(control : 0$^{\circ}$) was May 23, but the emergence dates of Oblique planting(45$^{\circ}$) and Upright planting(90$^{\circ}$) treatments were later than the control by 2~4 days. And the leaf length and the ratio of leaf length/leaf width were not significantly different. As compared with the 29.2cm and 10.0mm of the rhizome length and the rhizome diameter of level planting treatment, the rhizome length of Oblique planting treatment was decreased by 3.4cm and 0 mm. The length and diameter of rhizome of the Upright planting treatment was decreased by 2.8cm and 1.0mm. And the order of sugar content was level Planting > Oblique planting > Upright planting. The total yields were decreased by 9% in the Oblique planting and by 15% in the Upright planting compared to 1,203kg/10a in the control, and the commercial yields showed the same tendency. The level planting treatment was found to be most proper for sowing of Rehmannia glutinasa Liboschitz in the middle inland region of Korea.
This study was carried out to determine adequate planting date, to compare the growth characteristics between early and late maturing cultivars, and to provide the data for the cultivation techniques of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] in double cropping system with winter crops on paddy field in Korea. Cultivars were planted on 26 May, 16 June, and 7 July with a planting density of $70cm(row\;widtb)\;{\times}\;10cm$ (planting spacing). Seed yield of soybean planted on June 16 and July 7 was approximately $37\%\;and\;53\%$, respectively, less than that of conventional planting date of May 26 in Pungsan-namulkong, and planted on June 16 and July 7 was about $30\%\;and\;37\%$, respectively, less then that of conventional planting date of May 26 in Hanamkong. The number of pods and seeds per plant decreased as planting date delayed. Seed weight increased in Pungsan-namulkong but decreased in Hannamkong as planting date delayed. The flowering date was late in delayed planting plots, but it was shorted for days from emergence to flowering and from emergence to maturity. The plant height of Hannamkong was greater than Pungsan-namulkong from the emergence to flowering stages, but in contrast, it was greater in Pungsan-namulkong than Hannamkong after flowering stage (50d after emergence) when it planted on May 26. There were no significant differences between two soybean cultivars at planting dates of June 16 and July 7. Leaf number, leaf area, and dry matter were also reduced by late planting, and Both of them were shown in high reduction at the later planting. There was a high significant difference at the flowering $(r\;=\;0.87^{**})$ and pod formation $(r\;=\;0.91^{**})$ stages between leaf dry matter and seed yield. Crop growth rate (CGR) was greater at $R2\~R3$ growth stages compared to $R3\~R4\;or\;R4\~R5$ growth stages in two soybean cultivars and the greatest CGR was obtained at planting date of May 26 in two soybean cultivars except for R4-R5 growth stage in Pungsan-namulkong. There was a highly significant positive difference between the seed yield and the leaf area index (LAI) across R3 to R4 and R2 to R3 stages. The photosynthetic rate $(P_N)$ of the uppermost leaf position had no significant difference among planting dates and between two soybean cultivars. However, $P_N$ of the $7^{th}$ leaf position increased as the planting date delayed.
