  • This paper proposes an analysis method of performance degradation of antenna due to radio frequency interference between an antenna and adjacent noise sources using active scattering parameters. The radio frequency interference can be analyzed by the measured or simulated scattering parameters and by excited noise sources in the circuit as well. In this paper, a planar inverted-F antenna and a noise source are designed and fabricated to analyze radio frequency interference between the planar inverted-F antenna and noise source. The proposed analysis method uses active scattering parameters, of which verification is experimentally verified, and in simulation as well.

  • In this paper, an planar antenna which has omnidirectional radiation pattern in H-plane and low profile is proposed. By adding inductance elements of an ENG shell structure, a capacitance element of an electrically small antenna is easily achieved with impedance matching. An ENG shell structure is consist of a inductive loading structure which has symmetrical four stepped L-shape slots. The simulated result shows, the impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 150MHz (2.5 ~ 2.65GHz). The simulated maximum radiation gain of proposed antenna is 1.12 dBi at center frequency 2.56GHz. Omnidirectional radiation pattern is achieved. The proposed antenna will be applied to wireless lan access point system.

  • In this paper, the CPW-fed Ultra-wideband antenna is designed and fabricated for UWB communications. To achieve ultra-wide bandwidth of the antenna, we propose the mutual coupling of two planar monopole antennas. The mutual coupling of monopole pair of the proposed antenna is optimized by adjusting the parameters, the widths of the planar monopoles and the space between two monopoles. Two UWB antennas with different horizontal sections of the CPW-fed monopole antenna are fabricated and measured to examine the mutual coupling effects on the monopole pair antenna. The measured result show that two antennas are satisfied with UWB communication band(3.1$\sim$10.6Ghz).

  • The driving-point impedance of the center-fed planar dipole antenna is obtained using the method of moments (MOM). For the thin dipole antenna, our numerical result is compared with that of the inverse method by D. R. Rhodes as well as the known solutions of equivalent wire antenna. For the frequencies of L-band and S-band, the driving-point impedances of the thick planar dipole antennas are measured by experiment and compared with the numerical results.

  • In this paper, it is studied that the design method for the planar quasi-Yagi antenna suitable for the operation over 5-10GHz band. Yagi antenna is fed by a short-ended microstrip line and matched by a Balun circuit embedded within the antenna. The results for the characteristics of the Yagi antenna fabricated on the FR4 substrate (${\epsilon}_r$= 4.4, h=0.8mm) agreed well with those predicted by computer simulations.

  • In this paper, the design, fabrication and experiment on a planar array antenna with a flat-topped radiation pattern for a mobile base station antenna were described. The current distribution of an antenna aperture, which is easily realizable in a feeding network compared with the conventional one of sin(x)/x was optimized for shaping a desired flat-topped radiation pattern. The planar array antenna designed in this paper has a rectangular lattice and is composed of array elements of 16${\times}$8. Each radiating element, which is a microstrip element fed coaxially, has a linear vertical polarization and the feed network which use a Wilkinson power divider and a 180$^{\circ}$ ring hybrid coupler as a base element is designed. The flat-topped radiation pattern with 90$^{\circ}$ is shaped by 16 array elements with the element spacing of 0.55 λ$_{ο}$ in the azimuth plane, and the normal radiation pattern with 10$^{\circ}$ is shaped by 8 array elements with the element spacing of 0.65 λ$_{ο}$ in the elevation plane. Also, the planar array antenna is symmetrically divided into four parts. It consists of one hundred-twenty-eight radiating elements, thirty-two 1-4 column dividers, low 1-8 row dividers and one 1-4 input power divider. In order to verify electrical performances of the planar way antenna proposed in this paper, the experimental breadboard operated in tile band of 1.92~2.17 GHz(IMT2000 band) was fabricated, and its experimental results were a good agreement with simulation ones.

  • Generating electromagnetic waves with Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) properties is a fast-growing research subject in both radio and optics. This paper describes the generation of OAM carrying waves using a circular array of rectangular planar monopole antennas. The proposed design combines simplicity, compactness, and most importantly very wideband of operating frequencies (about 20-160 GHz, bandwidth ratio about 1:8) which makes it suitable for future applications.

  • This paper presents the design of a novel small and wide band planar inverted F-antenna which simultaneously covers GSM900/GPS/DCS1800/DCS1900/DMB service. The proposed antenna consisting of a main patch with rectangular slit, strip 1 and strip 2, occupied the total volume of.$15\times36\times6mm^3$. A very wide impedance bandwidth characteristic was achieved by optimizing both the distance between the feed line and short strip and the length of rectangular slit on the main patch. The commercial electromagnetic software, CST Microwave Studio, is used to design the structure. The maximum gains at the frequencies of 900, 1575, 1800, 1900, and 2600 MHz were 2.07, 1.07, 1.69 and 0.55, -1.99 dBi, respectively. The overall shape of the radiation patterns is suitable for mobile communication application.

The size of proposed design antenna is $15.5{\times}21{\times}1.6mm^3$ and dielectric substrate considered in design has 4.4 of relative permittivity. The calculated bandwidth is from 1.31 GHz to 10.83 GHz and the measured return loss is 1.5 GHz to 10.6 GHz at -10 dB below, and satisfies with the UWB antenna's bandwidth. The simulated and measured radiation patterns show fine agreement with each other at each frequency.

  • In this paper, it is designed inverted triangle structural planar monopole antenna with edge and rectangle slot for UWB(Ultra Wide Band) communication (3.1~10.6 GHz) and researched in about 5.8 GHz notch structure to prevent interference between UWB systems and existing wireless systems for using Wi-Fi service. The antenna have broadband property structurally through inverted triangle structural planar monopole which have edge. and rectangle form addition planned notch slot of 1 mm and height 0.1 mm. Monopole and ground of proposed antenna exist on coplanar plane, and excite as CPW. It used FR4 epoxy dielectric substrate of ${\varepsilon}r$=4.4, and the size is $20{\times}20{\times}1.6$ mm dimension. The measured results that are obtained return loss under -10 dB through 3.1~10.6 GHz(7.5 GHz) without Wi-Fi bandwidth and maximum gain of 8.44 dBi at E-plane. Radiation pattern is about the same that of dipole antenna at all frequency. And using notch slot and it will be able to confirm the quality which becomes notch from 5.8 GHz which are a radio LAN frequency range.
