The 3rd Library Development Plan raises the need to secure space through the establishment of a regional repository library as the issue of holding books is highlighted as a common problem in public libraries. The Korean Library Law Act also impose the responsibility of integrated management of local library materials on the regional representative library. Accordingly, this study aimed at Busan Metropolitan Library, which is operating a collaborative repository in earnest among regional representative libraries, and investigated the operation status of the collaborative repository and the perception of public librarians about the collaborative repository. The data necessary for the study were obtained through surveys, interviews, field surveys, and internal data analysis. Through this, the purpose of this study was to provide basic data that will help the Busan Metropolitan Library to operate the collaborative repository efficiently in the future, and at the same time, to present basic data that can be used as a reference for the operation of the collaborative repository of the representative libraries of other regions.

The objective of this study is to propose the operational organization and connective cooperation plan for the Daegu regional central library which will be completed in 2020. The vision of regional central library was presented as 'the library for the happiness of Daegu citizens and the cradle of knowledge and culture', and 10 core functions also proposed. In order to fulfill the roles as a regional central library, it has been suggested to maintain 5 departments including the department of administrative support, the department of library policy, the department of collection development, the department of information service, and the department of cooperative preservation. Lastly, it has also established the model of connective cooperation plans between other regional libraries and the regional central library as follows: the construction and operation of cooperative system, connective cooperation for the construction of Daegu collaborative repository, cooperative library system of ILL/DDS.

Digital reference services have been a key role in academic libraries in the context of various digital environments. The guidelines for the digital reference service are one of important aspects to improve the quality of services and system design and implement better services. In this study, by case studies and a questionnaire survey for academic librarians, the guideline for the digital reference service is suggested with three phases; plan, operation and evaluation. The guideline for the digital reference services suggested in this study is expected to support digital reference services in academic library environment.

The research is intended to establish the importance of background knowledge in reading process and suggest a revitalization plan for the schema for reading education. The reading process as fundamental research and the schema conception have been studied and the present situation of reading education in the school libraries has been inspected. This research reviewed the reading strategies which school libraries require for the revitalization of the schema and based on this data, a method of SQ3R reading has been applied and a class model developed. As an outcome, a guidance plan for instruction was proposed and learning-activity materials applying graphic organizer have been produced. Subsequently, a class in school library was conducted. Following the outcome of the class and an expert's review of the class model, this research has developed a class model for the revitalization of the schema for reading education in school libraries.

This study aims to investigate and analyze the current status of user education and the school library staffs' perceptions in elementary school libraries in Gyeongnam, and then to propose a plan to improve user education in school libraries. Among the 168 school libraries in the Gyeongsangnam-do where librarians are deployed, 120 that responded to the survey were selected as research subjects. The contents of the study include the contents and methods of user education, the status of librarian education for user education, school library staffs understanding and interest in user education, school library staffs' perceptions of the necessity and effectiveness of user education, and school library staffs' efforts to strengthen capacity of user education. Based on the current status of user education and the results of the school library staffs' perceptions survey, the following are proposed as a way to improve user education of the school library: 1) expanding librarian education opportunities for user education, 2) development and distribution of educational materials that diversify the content and level of each grade, 3) organizing normal school hours for user education, 4) continuous efforts to strengthen capacity for user education.

All publications of a country is a cultural heritage with the spirit of humanity, each National Library has to collect and preserve all publications produced in each country. Acquisition activity(Collection development) of each National Library is supported by a powerful legal deposit system. Therefore, this study has analyzed the legal deposit systems of the world countries, especially focussed whether or not the compensation for legal deposit, whether or not any sanction against not-depositing, Fine collection procedures against not-depositing, and the specific process for legal deposit. Based on these investigations, this study was to seek ways to contribute the legal deposit rates of National Library. It has proposed the following suggestions; Performing of legal deposit duty by itself, developing the system for supporting the legal deposit, establishing newly of legal deposit department, and improving the compensation for the legal depositor.

As the core task was selected in the 3rd Comprehensive Library Advancement Plan, 'Reinforcement of programs and services to strengthen future citizens' capacity required in the Fourth Industrial Revolution', the customized curation service of the library using artificial intelligence technology has recently been in the spotlight. The purpose of this study is to find out how the customized curation service affects the relationship between the library and the user. As a result, the library curation service was proved to have a statistically significant effect on user satisfaction and reliability. Satisfaction and reliability were also found to have a positive effect on library revisit, word of mouth intention, increased use, and new service intention. The results of this study can be used as basic data for the development and the operation of customized curation services based on user demand surveys, and could further contribute to enhancing the status of public libraries in Korea by mproving the competitiveness of libraries in the future society.

This study is about the position and role of the school district library media director in the USA in order to introduce and promote this position in Korea. It will help support the 'Master Plan for Promoting School Library: Making Good School Library' launched by the Korean Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development. For the research. the position and role of the school district library media director was researched by literature review, observation, questionnaire, and interview methods. Establishing the position of the school library media director in districts is necessary to promote school libraries in Korea. Finally, it suggests that the major of the school district library media director is library and information sciences. The school library media director should have technology knowledge, educational skills, leadership as an administrator, strong communication skills with their school librarians. advocator skill as well as have a wide knowledge in library and information sciences.

This study aimed to explore the current status of playgrounds, children's libraries and youth centers as local community centers in support of children. Its data were collected from reviewing the relevant literature, interviews, surveys and web search. It was found that children's libraries were predominantly located in Seoul and Kyungki provinces. In comparison with other advanced countries, Korea had lower ratios of volumes of books and periodicals per the library user and of a number of staff per the user. It was also found that over a half number of playgrounds was placed in apartment areas. Since 1993, the long-term youth development plan has commenced the construction of various societal infrastructure such as local youth centers, counseling institutes, sex-culture centers and youth cultural zones. Based on these findings, some policy issues were raised.

In 2005, the National Archives of Korea (NAK) set up the Records Management Standards Plan in the process of public records management innovation and released 55 standards and guidelines based on this plan. This study is to evaluate the standardization for records management so far with a critical view and suggest implications for rebuilding standardization strategies. For evaluation, it analyses records management standardization policies and the status of standard development through NAK's standardization policy documents and interviews records managers in central government agencies via e-mail. The categories of evaluation are the selection for the standardization areas, the quality of standard content, the standardization procedures, and the policies for sustainable standardization. It evaluates qualitatively with criteria set up in each category and then suggests some recommendations for the improvement of records management standardization.
