채집 방법과 시기 및 빈도에 따른 곤충의 다양성 비교 (Comparison of Insect Diversity in Relation to the Sampling Method, Time And Window)

  • 곤충의 채집방법, 횟수 및 시기와 채집된 곤충의 종류 및 개체수에 대한 상관관계를 조사하기 위하여 충북대학교 내 4곳을 선정, 일 년간 봄부터 가을까지 매 2주마다 채집을 실시, 총 16회 조사를 하였다. 각 장소마다 light trap, net sweeping, pitfall trap, window trap의 4가지 채집방법을 병행 실시하여 결과를 비교분석하였다. 모두 14목 672종이 조사되었으며, 전체 종수의 75%인 501종이 채집된 유아등 채집(light trap)방법이 18% 또는 그 이하의 종수를 기록한 타 채집방법들에 비해 보다 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 각 채집시기에서 채집된 종이 2주 후의 채집에서 다시 채집되는 비율이 평균 30% 정도 밖에 되지 않았다. 결과적으로 곤충다양성 조사에 있어서 보다 의미 있는 결과를 확보하기 위해서는 다양한 채집방법과 함께 채집의 빈도(sampling window)를 높이는 것이 특히 중요한 것으로 나타났다.

호두나무 포장 내 절지동물의 다양성 (Arthropod Diversity in Walnut Orchards)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내 호두나무 재배지에 대한 절지동물의 군집 구조를 파악하고, 주요 해충과 천적의 종류 조사를 위해 수행하였다. 또한 조사방법(털어잡기, 깔때기트랩 및 함정트랩)에 따른 다양성 및 군집구조를 비교하였다. 이를 위해 김천시, 부여군 및 화성시에서 호두나무 재배 농가 1곳씩을 선정하였고, 2016년 5월부터 9월까지 조사하였다. 조사 결과, 총 408종 4,372개체의 절지동물이 채집되었고, 이중 전체 조사지역에서 채집된 종은 63종이었다. 깔때기트랩에서 가장 다양하게 절지동물이 채집되었으며, 함정트랩에서 가장 많은 절지동물이 채집되었다. 또한 깔때기트랩과 털어잡기에 의해 채집된 종 구성은 서로 유사한 특징을 보였다. 본 연구를 통해 지역별로 주요 해충의 발생양상이 다르게 나타났는데, 특히 복숭아명나방, 뽕나무깍지벌레, 호두나무잎벌레, 꽃매미, 미국선녀벌레 및 갈색날개매미충이 잠재적으로 중요한 해충이 될 것이라 생각된다. 이외에도 다수의 포식성 및 기생성 절지동물들이 확인되었고, 이들에 대한 정보들은 향후 호두나무 포장의 관리에 있어 중요한 기초 자료가 될 것이다.

서울시 고덕지구에 서식하는 맹꽁이(Kaloula borealis)의 성비 및 성별에 따른 형태 차이에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Sex Ratio and Morphological Differences Between the Sexes of Narrow-mouthed Toad (Kaloula borealis) Inhabiting the Godeok District in Seoul)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 함정트랩으로 포획된 맹꽁이 개체들의 형태적 특성을 분석하여 맹꽁이의 기초적인 정보를 수집하는 것이다. 연구 대상지는 서울특별시 강동구 고덕동 일대로, 이곳에 서식하는 맹꽁이를 대상으로 2016년 7월부터 2020년 11월까지 총 4년간 포획함정(pitfall trap)을 이용하여 총 1,063개체를 포획하였다. 맹꽁이는 길이(SVL)를 통하여 성체와 미성숙 개체를 구분하였으며, 성체를 대상으로 성비와 성별에 따른 형태 차이를 확인하였다. 그 결과, 성체 수컷은 모두 배면에 한 쌍의 흰띠가 관찰되었으며, 암컷은 배면에 알이 확인되었다. 선행연구들을 통해 배면에 한쌍의 흰띠는 수컷의 생식선(Gonads)으로 판단 되었으며, 일부 미성숙 개체들에서도 확인되었다. 이러한 배면에 위치한 한 쌍의 흰띠 존재 유무로 맹꽁이의 성별을 구분할 수 있었으며, 이는 현장에서 확인 가능한 성별 구분방법으로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 연구기간 동안 성체 성비는 수컷 697개체(65.57%)와 암컷 366개체(34.43%)가 확인되어 수컷이 더 많은 것으로 확인되었다. 이와 같은 맹꽁이의 성비와 암수 구분 방법은 추후 맹꽁이의 종 복원과 개발로 인한 이주, 대체서식처 모니터링뿐만 아니라 다양한 생태연구와 기초적인 자료로 활용될 것으로 판단된다.

A Potential Diagnostic Pitfall in the Differentiation of Hemorrhagic and Fatty Lesions Using Short Inversion Time Inversion Recovery: a Case Report

  • Short inversion time inversion recovery (STIR) is widely used for spinal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) because the pulse sequence of STIR is insensitive to magnetic field inhomogeneity and can be used to scan a large field of view. In this case report, we present a case of spinal epidural hematoma with unexpected signal decrease on a STIR image. The MRI showed an epidural mass that appeared with high signal intensity on both T1- and T2-weighted images. However, a signal decrease was encountered on the STIR image. This nonspecific decrease of signal in tissue with a short T1 relaxation time that is similar to that of fat (i.e., hemorrhage) could lead to a diagnostic pitfall; one could falsely diagnose this decrease of signal as fat instead of hemorrhage. Awareness of the nonselective signal suppression achieved with STIR pulse sequences may avert an erroneous diagnosis in image interpretation.

Influences of Forest Type and Fragmentation by a Road on Beetle Communities in the Gwangneung Forest, South Korea

  • The effects of forest type and fragmentation of forests by a road on the beetle community were investigated in the Gwangneung Forest, South Korea. Beetles were collected monthly using pitfall traps and by sweeping at 16 sites (eight in coniferous forests and eight in deciduous forests) for one year from April 1993 to April 1994, excluding winter. A total of 17,616 beetles belonging to 271 species from 39 families were collected. Among them, Synuchus cycloderus was the dominant species, with 14,060 individuals accounting for 80% of the total population. The influence of forest type (coniferous and deciduous) or sampling region (fragmented by a road) on species richness(number of species) was observed. We found that species richness was substantially different depending on the sampling method and taxa used. Beetles collected using pitfall traps responded more sensitively to habitat types than those collected by sweeping. Four dominant families differently responded to forest fragmentation and forest types. Carabidae was influenced by forest fragmentation, whereas Staphylinidae and Curculionidae were influenced by forest types. Chrysomelidae was not influenced.

Ontology Development for Cultural Knowledge of Thai-Khmer Textiles

  • This study aims to develop ontologies regarding cultural knowledge of Thai-Khmer textiles by applying the Knowledge Engineering Methodology to build upon the ontologies. The process includes 1) generating the ontologies' objectives, 2) building ontologies, and 3) evaluating the ontologies. The researchers used OntOlogies Pitfall Scanner (OOPS!) to minimize defects and asked two experts to evaluate the ontologies' design. Protégé was used to design the ontologies, and WIDOCO was used to present the ontologies through the World Wide Web. It was found that the developed ontology consists of two classes, 16 sub-classes, and 16 relationships. The ontologies assessment found that there were seven items to fix according to the OOPS! software. Apart from the assessment program, the experts mentioned that all five aspects were suitable; namely, the ontology design was evaluated at 4.51 (Likert), the process of identifying scopes of definitions and objectives of development was 4.61, the applications and guidelines for further development was 4.58, the process of forming classes was 4.53, and the process of generating class's properties was 4.50.

  • Bone densitometry is a disease in which bones are easily broken due to metabolic bone disease, and DXA is used as a clinical standard test. Although DXA is a good method with good accuracy and reproducibility, it is frequently subject to test errors in testing and result analysis and analysis. Therefore, it is important to recognize the error issues that radiologists should basically be aware of when performing bone density tests, prevent erroneous diagnoses and treatments resulting from the results, and reduce the unnecessary costs associated with them. aim. The inspection must be carried out if the quality control of the equipment is basically continuously performed well before the inspection. Before starting the examination, the patient's age, sex, race, weight, pregnancy status, and any foreign objects that can be removed should be checked, and the examination should be performed in the correct posture. In addition, it is important to analyze results consistently. Radiologists, who play the most important role in ensuring accurate examinations, need to be aware of the potential for errors in advance and develop the ability to deal with the potential for errors in each examination. For that reason, regular education is considered essential.

예봉산의 거미상 (The Spider Fauna of Mt. Yebongsan, Kyunggi-do, Korea)

  • The authors investigated the spider fauna of Mt. Yebongsan from May 1994 to Aug. 1996. In this paper, 265 species from 21 genera, and 28 families were identified and compared with those from islands geographical with differing i.e., Is. Paikryung-do, Is. Chin-do, and Is. Ulrung-do distribution and climate. Spiders from 45 palaearctic regions(3.69%), 13 holarctic regions(1.06%), 4 oriental regions(0.32%) and 5 cosmopolitans(0.41%) are identified. Various methods were used for collecting specimens during the period including pitfall, beating, sweeping and looking up-down.

Arcuphantes catillus n. sp., a new spider species (Araneae: Linyphiidae) from Korea

  • Arcuphantes catillus n. sp., a new species of the genus Arcuphantes Chamberlin and Ivie, 1943 is described from Korea. The present species is distinguishable from its known similar congeners by a conspicuous proximal process and a blunt lateral process of the paracymbium, feathery tipped lamellar extension of the pseudolamella, and bowl-like posterior part of radix. The present new species was collected from the leaf litter layer of mixed forest on a hillock around rice fields with a pitfall trap.
