조종실 내의 개방성이 심리적 안전감과 조종 수행 참여도 향상에 주는 영향: 민간 항공 기장과 부기장을 대상으로 (The Effects of Inclusiveness between Team Members on Psychological Safety and Improvement Efforts in a Commercial Airline Cockpit)

  • This study aims at determining psychological elements that influence team coordination between a captain and a first officer in a commercial airline cockpit. It also examines how these elements interact between one another in different team membership settings. It was hypothesized that mutual inclusiveness of differential status among pilots enhances psychological safety and engagement in safety improvement efforts. Survey results based on 254 airline pilots suggest that status (captain, first officer) and mutual inclusiveness (openness between team members) influence psychological safety and mutual inclusiveness moderates the relationship between status and psychological safety. The results also suggest that psychological safety is positively associated with engagement in safety improvement efforts and partially mediates the relationship between mutual inclusiveness and improvement efforts. This study provides insights into antecedents of fostering safety improvement efforts in airline crew teams in which cultural differences and professional hierarchy exist.

공군 조종사의 소명의식과 외상 후 성장의 관계 - 인지적 정서조절의 매개효과와 변혁적 리더십의 조절효과 - (The Relationship between Calling and Posttraumatic Growth of the Air Force Pilot - Mediating Effect of Cognitive Emotion Regulation and Moderating Effect of Transformational Leadership -)

  • This study examined the mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation in the relationship between calling and posttraumatic growth (PTG) and the moderating role of transformational leadership among Air Force pilots. A total of 215 ROK Air Force pilots participated in this study twice with an interval of 4 weeks. The results of this study were as follows. First, calling, transformational leadership, adaptive emotion regulation, and PTG showed statistically significant correlations. Second, a mediating model showed that the relationship between calling and PTG was mediated by adaptive emotion regulation. Third, the moderation effect of transformational leadership in the relationship calling on adaptive emotion regulation was found. Finally, transformational leadership also moderated the mediating effect of calling on PTG through adaptive emotion regulation was identified. Implications, limitations, and future research suggestions were discussed.

민간항공사 소속 조종사의 HEXACO 성격요인 측정과 그들의 성격요인이 적응수행능력에 미치는 영향 연구: 개방성, 성실성 및 외향성을 중심으로 (The Measurement of HEXACO Personality Factors of Flight Crews at a Civil Airline and The Effect on Their Adaptive Performance)

  • This study utilized the HEXACO model developed by Lee et al. to investigate the effect of personal level personality variables on adaptive performance of new pilots engaged in domestic airlines. As a result of the analysis, it was found out that extroversion had a statistically significant effect on adaptive performance, while openness to experience and conscientiousness did not affect the adaptive performance statistically. In the analysis of interaction between personality variables and demographic variables, there was a statistically significant interaction effect between the origin and extroversion. Second, it was confirmed that the extroversion variable had an influence on the adaptive performance, suggesting that personality variables should be reflected in the selection of new pilots. Third, when the extroversion level was low, the adaptive performance of the civilian was relatively lower than that of the military.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a brief overview of the helicopter pilot training system applied to the Army, and to examine what factors positively affect the successful flight training of helicopter pilots. For this purpose, we analyzed the correlations between various factors such as individual characteristics, selection factors, flight aptitude evaluation, theoretical subjects test, and self-life evaluation. As a result, it was found that only the flight experience was influential on the individual characteristics at the beginning of the training course, and the learning achievement represented by the test of theoretical subjects was positively influenced throughout the flight training course. This reaffirms the fact that an individual's high level of motivation or effort influences his flight training performance. These results are expected to be useful indicators for future development of pilot selection system and pilot training system.

조절초점과 적응수행의 관계에서 조직유효성의 영향 - 조직몰입의 조절효과 - (The Relationship between Flight Crew's Regulatory Focus and Adaptive Performance - Organizational Commitment as a Moderator -)

  • This study examined the effect of regulatory focus on adaptative performance for pilots and co-pilots engaged in domestic civil airlines, and verified the moderating effect of organizational commitment in the process of regulatory focus on adaptative performance. For study, the scale developed by Lockwood Penelope and others validated and developed to measure the regulatory focus was adapted to suit the aviation scene and examined through this. As a result of the study, among the sub-variables of the regulatory focus scale, the promotion focus had a statistically significant and positive effect on the adaptative performance. and derived that the prevention focus had a statistically significant negative effect on the adaptative performance. In order to examine the moderating effect of organizational commitment in the relationship between regulatory focus and adaptative performance, the results of hierarchical regression analysis were conducted after controlling the rank, background, and career. Organizational commitment showed a statistically significant positive moderating effect in the relationship of adaptative performance. In addition, as a result of the verification according to the level of organizational commitment, prevention focus and adaptative performance showed statistically significant negative effects when organizational commitment was high.

  • The topic of this paper was analyzed as "t -test" and "multiple regression analysis" for 303 helicopter pilot trainees from aviation schools in the county for "improvement of education through correlation analysis of helicopter pilots' situational awareness and education satisfaction." In addition to the factors for overcoming situational awareness and situational awareness, the level of satisfaction of the instructor and the level of satisfaction of the learning management system (LMS) is the confidence interval p<.05, 95%. It was analyzed to be significant at the level of 05, 95%. Therefore, it was analyzed that in order to improve the "quality of the instructor" in future education, institutional supplementation and "learning management system (LMS)" need to be established including VR and AR so that pilot trainees can use it at all times.

국내선 항공기 연료소모량 분석을 통한 연료절감 방안연구 - B737 항공기 연료소모량을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Fuel Saving Method through the Analysis of Fuel Consumption on Domestic Flight - Based on the Fuel Consumption of B737 Aircraft -)

  • This study analyzed and derived a plan to reduce fuel consumption of domestic aircraft. Specifically, this study tested fuel consumption in the short-distance flights of B737. Fuel consumption was calculated by substituting the simulation variable values into Matlab. The strength of this study is that the actual operating environment was reflected by collecting the B737 flight data. As a result of the study, the domestic fuel consumption rate in the computed flight plan was less than the current fuel consumption rate. Existing limitations of this study is that it was difficult to reflect the various variables constituting the flight environment, and thus there can be errors in the measurement of the fuel consumption. There are two major expected applications from this study. First, applying the plans from this study will lead to a reduction in the amount of fuel and thus provide positive economic effects for commercial airlines. Second, the plan from this study will provide a basis for pilots to predict fuel consumption more accurately. In conclusion, this study proposes a fuel saving plan with useful applications for pilots and airlines.

VR HMD 시뮬레이터를 활용한 조종사 시선 추적 및 착륙 절차 결과 분석 (Pilot Gaze Tracking and ILS Landing Result Analysis using VR HMD based Flight Simulators)

  • This study performed precision instrument landing procedures for pilots with a commercial pilot license using VR HMD flight simulators, and assuming that the center of the pilot's gaze is in the front, 3-D.O.F. head tracking data and 2-D eye tracking of VR HMD worn by pilots gaze tracking was performed through. After that, AOI (Area of Interesting) was set for the instrument panel and external field of view of the cockpit to analyze how the pilot's gaze was distributed before and after the decision altitude. At the same time, the landing results were analyzed using the Localizer and G/S data as the pilot's precision instrument landing flight data. As a result, the pilot was quantitatively evaluated by reflecting the gaze tracking and the resulting landing result using a VR HMD simulator.

  • In Vol. 31, No. 3, our journal prepared three review articles, an original paper, and two case reports. First, as COVID-19 continues for a long time, aviation workers, including pilots, are also experiencing mental problems such as depression. Therefore, we have compiled the basic principles for improving the mental health of pilots. Next, it is difficult to properly perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when a cardiac arrest situation occurs in an aircraft. Moreover, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, CPR is more difficult because medical staff and other passengers may also be exposed to infections. Therefore, we have summarized the principles of CPR on board and ways to perform CPR while keeping the safety of medical staff and other passengers in the COVID-19 situation. The sudden change of gravity caused by space travel has various effects on the human body, and among them, the effect on the immune system is profound. Therefore, we reviewed the research methods to study the effect of gravity on the immune system and the results. In addition, we analyzed the demographic characteristics and health status of immigrant visa applicants who intended to immigrate to the United States over the past five years. Next, through two case reports, we reported cases of determining physical fitness for aviation service in patients who recovered after receiving appropriate treatment for chronic myeloid leukemia or renal cell carcinoma.

도·예선 정보체계 분석 및 운영 시스템 개발 (Analysis and Operation System of the Information System of the Pilot and Tugs)

  • 현재 도선과 예선은 선박의 접·이안과 입출항을 지원함으로써 선박, 항만, 인명에 대한 사고 발생을 방지하여 재산상 피해를 최소화하거나 제거하는 기능을 수행한다. 도·예선 시스템은 항만의 기능이 원활하게 이루어지게 하는 필수적인 기능으로 항만의 물동량에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 시스템이다. 본 연구에서는 도·예선의 운영정보를 활용하여 항만의 운영 효율화, 선박 대기시간 단축, 선박 운영의 최적화, 최적의 도·예선 배정이 가능한 도·예선 정보체계 분석 운영시스템을 개발하였다.
