  • This paper presents a new type of jetting dispenser for the integrated circuit(IC) fabrication and surface mount technology. The proposed system is featured by the piezoelectric actuator and hydraulic magnification device. After describing structural component of the dispensing mechanism and its operation principle, both the fluid modeling and the hydraulic magnification modeling are undertaken with a lumped-parameter method based on the analogy of the fluid system and mechanical system. A mathematical governing equation is then derived by integrating the fluid model with the mechanical model of the driving piston and piezoelectric actuator. Subsequently, in order to achieve a desired dispensing amount, control algorithm adjusting duty cycle of the driving voltage is synthesized and control responses are presented in time domain.

  • This paper presents the position tracking control of a laser scanning mirror system in which piezoelectic actuator is incorporated. Using the shear mode of the piezoelectric actuator, angular oscillation of a laser scanning mirror is derived. Torsion bar is rhen designed and attached to the piezoelctric actuator in order to magnify the amplitude generated by the actuator. Finite element modeling and analysis are essntial for designing the piezoelectic actuator. The torsional resonance mode of the piezoelectric actuator is found from the model analysis of the actuator and the mechanical shear is matched with the driving frequency. Transfer function between the electrical excitation and the mechanical shear deformation at resonance frequency is found form the response of the actuator calculated by the finite element analysis and the governing equation of the system is derived from d'Alembert's principle. Tracking control performance for desired trajectory which is, in fact, sinusoidal curve is presented in order to demonstrate the validity of the proposed system.

  • Vibration control of plates with a passive electrical damper is presented in this paper. This electrical absorber, piezoelectric patches connected with a resistor and an inductor in series, is analogous to the damped mechanical vibration absorber. For estimating the effectiveness of piezoelectric absorber, the governing equations of motion are derived using a classical laminate plate theory and Hamilton principle. The developed theoretical analyses are validated experimentally for simply-supported aluminum plates in order to demonstrate the performance of passive electrical damper. The result shows that the vibration amplitude is reduced about 14dB for the targeted first vibration mode.

  • In current paper, nonlocal (NLT), nonlocal strain gradient (NSGT) and Gurtin-Murdoch surface/interface (GMSIT) theories with classical theory (CT) are utilized to investigate vibration and stability analysis of Double Walled Piezoelectric Nanosensor (DWPENS) based on cylindrical nanoshell. DWPENS simultaneously subjected to direct electrostatic voltage DC and harmonic excitations, structural damping, two piezoelectric layers and also nonlinear van der Waals force. For this purpose, Hamilton's principle, Galerkin technique, complex averaging and with arc-length continuation methods are used to analyze nonlinear behavior of DWPENS. For this work, three nonclassical theories compared with classical theory CT to investigate Dimensionless Natural Frequency (DNF), pull-in voltage, nonlinear frequency response and stability analysis of the DWPENS considering the nonlocal, material length scale, surface/interface (S/I) effects, electrostatic and harmonic excitation.

  • A seven-port impedance and admittance matrices of multilayered piezoelectric beam are derived for the analysis of piezoelectric AFM ( atomic force microscope) cantilever that is partially covered by the piezoelectric layer. The variational principle is used for deriving the extensional and flexural motional equations and the conjugate parameters. Overall impedance matrix of AFM cantilever can be obtained by combining two impedance matrices of the covered and the non-covered. she resonance and antiresonance frequencies and the effective electromechanical coupling factors are calculated using the derived matrices. The results and the three dimensional finite element solutions are compared with the experimental results in other publication.

  • In this study, a single phase driven piezoelectric motor design is presented for linear motion-metal/ ceramics composite structure. Using ANSYS finite element analysis software, mode shape of free motor was obtained to clarify the working principle of this motor. And characteristics of the motor was measured. The motor is composed of a piezoelectric ceramic, a metal ring which has 4 arms, and a guider. The motor with 25.0[mm] diameter was studied by finite element analysis and experimentation too. As a result, the motor was expressed the best speed in resonance frequency. And according as voltage of the motor increase, the speed increased by ratio.

  • In this paper, the free vibrations of a short cylindrical nanotube made of piezoelectric material are studied based on the consistent couple stress theory and using the shear deformable cylindrical theory. This new model has only one length scale parameter and can consider the size effects of nanostructures in nanoscale. To model size effects in nanoscale, and considering the nanotube material which is piezoelectric, the consistent couple stress theory is used. First, using Hamilton's principle, the equations of motion and boundary condition of the piezoelectric cylindrical nanoshell are developed. Afterwards, using Navier approach and extended Kantorovich method (EKM), the governing equations of the system with simple-simple (S-S) and clamped-clamped (C-C) supports are solved. Afterwards, the effects of size parameter, geometric parameters (nanoshell length and thickness), and mechanical and electric properties (piezoelectric effect) on nanoshell vibrations are investigated. Results demonstrate that the natural frequency on nanoshell in nanoscale is extremely dependent on nanoshell size. Increase in size parameter, thickness and flexoelectric effect of the material leads to increase in frequency of vibrations. Moreover, increased nanoshell length and diameter leads to decreased vibration frequency.

  • A layerwise theory for the dynamic response of a laminated composite plate with integrated piezoelectric actuators and sensors subjected to both mechanical and electrical loadings is proposed. The formulation is derived form the variational principle with consideration for both total potential energy of the structures and the electrical potential energy of the piezoceramics. The governing equations of the present theory account for direct and converse effects of piezoelectrics, and layerwise variation of displacement field through the thickness of a laminate.
