The purpose of this study was to grasp the relationship among general characteristic, work characteristic, job stress and social psychological stress by targeting dental hygienists in a certain area. By using self-administered questionnaire, it was possible to get following results from 219 people. The total score of job stress of dental hygienist was $47.41{\pm}7.46$. The people who are younger, take lower positions at their workplace and not married showed higher stress about physical environment, autonomous work and improper compensation. The people with lower income showed higher stress about autonomous work and the people with lower academic background showed higher stress about physical environment and autonomous work. The people who spend more time at their workplace showed higher stress about autonomous work and showed lower stress about relational conflict, organization system, improper compensation and work culture. The job stress about physical environment, job request, autonomous work, unstable work, improper compensation and workplace culture had a positive correlation with social psychological stress. It was found that unstable work, organization system, improper compensation and higher position gave effects to social psychological stress.

Purpose: This study was conducted to define factors influencing health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in women undergraduates. Independent variables of physical activity, attitude to eating, satisfaction with body shape, stress and self-esteem were used to predict HRQOL. Method: Data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 20.0 program for descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression. Participants were 245 women undergraduates who were recruited from July to September 2012. Result: The mean for the physical component summary (PCS) of HRQOL was 73.89, and for the mental component summary (MCS) was 68.45. There were significant correlations between attitude to eating, satisfaction with body shape, stress, self-esteem and the two components of HRQOL. The groups with minimal or health enhancing activity were significantly higher in PCS and MCS than the inactivity group. Stepwise multiple regression analysis indicated that 35% of the variance in PCS was significantly accounted for by self-esteem, perceived stress, attitude to eating, and physical activity, and 45% of the variance in MCS was significantly accounted for by perceived stress, self-esteem, attitude to eating, and satisfaction with body shape. Conclusion: The results indicate that these factors influencing HRQOL should be considered when developing programs to improve HRQOL for women undergraduates.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors related on pain in female office workers. Methods : Neck pain group of 31 female subjects complained of neck and arm discomfort. Normal group of 20 female subjects had no complaints or minimal discomfort. Cervical curvature and muscle tone were assessed by whole spine x-ray, meridian-electromyography(MEMG), craniovertebral angle, and Moire. Neck pain was evaluated by Neck Disability Index(NDI) and Visual Analog Scale(VAS). The emotional and other physical factors that could effect neck pain were checked by questionnaires including Beck Depression Index(BDI), Stress Reaction Index(SRI), Holmes & Rahe Social Readjustment Rating Scale(SRRS), International Physical Activity Questionnaire(IPAQ), and Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale(GSRS). Results : The contraction and fatigue of upper trapezius by MEMG was significantly higher in the neck pain group. And BDI, SRI, SRRS, and GSRS were significantly higher in the neck pain group (p<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the Jackson's angle, Cobb's method, craniovertebral angle, and moire between two groups. Conclusions : The results suggest that neck pain is related to mental stress rather than physical stress and physical stress does not change cervical curvature significantly.
This study investigated the effect of physical training and oxidative stress on the anti oxidative activity and on plasma lipid profile. Forty eight rats were given either a physical training or no training for 4 weeks and were then subdivided into 3 groups: before-exercise (BE); during-exercise (DE); after-exercise (AE). The antioxidative activity was evaluated with the activities of catalase in plasma and superoxide dismutase (SOD), the ratio of reduced glutathione/ oxidized glutathione (GSH/GSSG) and the level of malondialdehyde (MDA) in liver. The plasma concentrations of triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C)) were also compared. Compared to those of non-training group. catalase activities of training group were lower before exercise but higher during and after exercise. SOD activities were higher regardless of exercise. GSH/GSSG ratio was higher before exercise but was not significantly different during exercise and even lower after exercise. There were no differences between non-training group and training group in MDA levels regardless of exercise. Compared to those of non-training group, atherosclerotic index of training group was lower after exercise and there were no significant differences before and during exercise. There were no differences between non-training group and training group in HDL-C regardless of exercise. These results suggest that moderate physical training can activate antioxidant defenses and decrease the atherosclerotic index and this beneficial effect is evident under exercise-induced oxidative stress.

Purpose : Sexual harassment cases involving health and medical workers, including physical therapists, nurses and psychotherapists, are on the rise. Despite the increased incidence of sexual harassment, prior studies show that physical therapists, nursing assistants and caregivers are not doing well cope with sexual harassment. Therefore this study examines the factors associated with sexual harassment damage experience among physical therapists, as well as the relationship between sexual harassment damage experience and job-related aspects. It is intended to prepare basic data for programs and research that can mediate these issues. Methods : We conducted a self-reported questionnaire survey of 200 physical therapists working at medical institutions in the Seoul metropolitan area. The survey items included sexual harassment experience and job-related aspects such as satisfaction, stress, burnout, and engagement. A correlation analysis was conducted to clarify the relationship between sexual harassment experience and job-related factors, and multiple regression analysis was conducted to verify the correlations of sexual harassment experience on physical therapists' job. Results : There was a weak correlation between sexual harassment experience, job satisfaction, and job engagement, and a moderate correlation between sexual harassment experience, job stress, and job burnout. The impact of sexual harassment experience on job had a significant correlation on job satisfaction, job stress and burnout. Conclusions : Sexual harassment damage experience among physical therapists had a significant impact on many job aspects. Thus, there is a need for countermeasures and education to prevent sexual harassment, or at least effectively cope with the consequences. It is proposed to expand to other local or national units as follow-up studies, to study other factors affecting sexual harassment damage experience, and to develop and verify programs to cope with or prevent sexual harassment damage experience.

Purpose: This study was dont: to evaluate the factors that influence secondary traumatic stress, burnout, and physical symptoms experienced by firefighters. In addition, a hypothetical model was developed. Method: The data were collected using self-reported questionnaires from 410 field service firefighters. Data analysis was done with the SPSSWIN 10.0 program for descriptive statistics and Windows LISREL program to determine the causal relationship between the measurement variables. Results: The hypothetical model which was developed fits well with actual data(${\chi}^2$=3.16, p=0.99, GFI=1.00, AGFI=0.99, NFI=0.99, and NNFI=1.06). The variable, personality type, social support, and impact mobilization frequency had a significant effect and accounted for 7% of the secondary traumatic stress in firefighters. The variables, career, social support, and secondary traumatic stress had a significant effect and accounted for 24% of the burnout in firefighters. Social support, impact mobilization frequency, and secondary traumatic stress were important variables and accounted for 31% of the physical symptoms in firefighters. Conclusion: It is necessary for firefighters to manage themselves according to their personality types. Strategies that can increase the firefighters' social support and decrease their perceived secondary traumatic stress also need to be developed to minimize or prevent a negative effect on their health.
Stress induces change to the body functions and causes chronic problems such as worsening a disease. Thus, humans want to evade anxiety and would try any means to reduce stressful situations. Generally, a person would handle their stress by either regulating their emotions or merely coping with the situation, for which the former is most widely used. Our research aims to effectively reduce stress by using the emotional response structure developed by Plutichik and the vitalization method. We extracted the relevant components of the stress-reduction method that would be applicable in any space using digital technologies such as sensors, IoT, and augmented reality. An architect or designer may incorporate these structural components into any structure to effectively reduce people's stress. The research aims to provide a new perspective of architectural space and to show applications of the stress-reducing architectural spaces, which should also fulfill the people's needs. Further research is needed to develop an automatic system to utilize spatial components more effectively.
Conversion disorder is defined as a specific and enduring sensorimotor dysfunction that contradicts known neurological or musculoskeletal pathology or physical findings. The patient with conversion symptoms unconsciously adopts these symptoms to convert their psychological stress to a physical phenomenon. Conversion disorder often involves the mimicry of organic symptoms similar to those experienced by a relative or an acquaintance. Because conversion symptoms are produced by psychological stress, specific treatment strategy and reinforcement program are needed for treatment. Treatment comprises avoiding unnecessary medical tests and removing symptoms by using graded exercises given by physical therapists. Clinical therapists must maintain a continuous and detailed follow-up to completely recover from conversion symptoms. The goal of treatment is to emphasize health rather than disease, to resolve physical symptoms, and to prevent recurrence. This study looks into the case reports of 4 patients diagnosed with conversion disorder.
The concept of stress wave was introduced through the quantized kinetic energy which is related to the potentional energy change of atom, molecular bond energy. Differentiated molecular bond energy $\varphi$() by the lst order displacement u becomes force F(F = d$\varphi$($u_i$)/du), if resversely stated, causing physically atomic displacement $u_i$. Such physical phenomena lead stress(force/area of applied force) can be expressed by wave equation of linearly quantized physical property. Through the stress wave concept, formation of dislocation, which could not explained easily from a theory of continuum mechanics, can be explained. Moreover, this linearly quantized stress wave equation with a stress concept for grains in a crystalline solid was applied to three typical metallic microstructures and a simple shape. The result appears to be a product from well treated equations of a quantized stress wave. From this result, it can be expected to answer the reason why the defect free and very fine diameters of long crystalline shapes exhibit ideal tensile strength of materials.

To develop the photoelastic experiment method for the orthotropic material under pure torsional moment is the main objective of this research. In the development of photoelastic experiment for orthotropic material under pure torsional moment, the important problems and their solutions are the same as following. In the model material for photoelastic experiment, it was found that C.F.E.C.(Copper Fiber Epoxy Composite) can be used as the model material of photoelastic experiment for orthotropic material. In the stress freezing cycle, it was assured that stress freezing cycle for epoxy can be used as the stress freezing cycle of the photoelastic experiment for orthotropic material. In the slicing method, it was found that the negative oblique slicing method can be effectively used as slicing method in 3-dimensional photoelastic experiment. In the measuring method of stress fringe values and physical properties in the high temperature, it was found that stress fringe values can be directly measured by experiment and physical properties can be directly or indirectly by equation between stress fringe values and physical properties developed by author. In the stress analysis method of orthotropic material under pure torsional moment by photoelastic experiment, it will be studied in the second paper.
