A Simple Real-Time DMPPT Algorithm for PV Systems Operating under Mismatch Conditions

  • This paper presents a distributed maximum power point tracking (DMPPT) algorithm based on the reference voltage perturbation (RVP) method for the PV modules of a series PV string. The proposed RVP-DMPPT algorithm is developed to accurately track the maximum power point (MPP) for each PV module operating under all atmospheric conditions with a reduced hardware overhead. To study the influence of parameters such as the controller reference voltage ($V_{ref}$) and PV current ($I_{pv}$) on the PV string voltage, a small signal model of a unidirectional differential power processing (DPP) based PV-Bus architecture is developed. The steady state and dynamic performances of the proposed RVP DMPPT algorithm and small signal model of the unidirectional DPP based PV-Bus architecture are demonstrated with simulations and experimental results. The accuracy of the RVP DMPPT algorithm is demonstrated by obtaining a tracking efficiency of 99.4% from the experiment.

  • Solar cells are renewable energy source which is not only environmentally friendly but also economically viable. For that matter, thin film materials are in observed with great in terest by a number of sources throughout the nations. Among these, CdTe (Cadium telluride) and CIS (copper indium diselenide) are the latest commercial products that are gathering attention in the solar cells markets. However there are some downsides to this newly invention. Since the materials are embedded, in the occasion of damage, certain amount of module residue can be released to water or soil. This paper outlines the results of our outdoor leaching experiments on photovoltaic (PV) samples broken into small fragments and been observed for 1 year.

  • The integration of PV modules into building facades or roof could raise PV module temperature that results in the reduction of electrical power generation. Lowering operating temperature of PV module is important in this respect, and PV module temperature should be considered more accurately, for building-integrated PV(BIPV) systems in predicting their performance. This paper describes a BIPV solar roof design and verifies its performance through experiment In relation to the effect of ventilation in space between PV module and roof surface. The results showed that the ventilation in the space had a positive effect in lowering the module temperature of the BIPV solar roof that enhanced the performance of its electricity generation.

  • This paper describes the element of solar cell's characteristics, photovoltaic system and solar tracking through experiment. Furthermore, it proposes the experiment results of the PV system is contained solar modules, power conditioning system and the solar tracking system using air compress charging energy The experimental results show that the PV system is always operated at maximum power of solar cells and tracking the sun in order to generate efficiently power generation and propose a capability of its application.

  • 본 논문에서는 태양광모듈과 전력변환장치간의 접속장치로 사용된 전력용 반도체 스위칭 소자의 소프트 스타팅 기법을 통해 초기 돌입전류를 저감하는 알고리즘을 제안하고자 한다. 태양광 모듈의 경우, 릴레이나 DC차단기 등을 사용하여 전력변환장치와 연동하는 것이 일반적이나, 이 경우 태양광모듈의 수명과 접속장치의 전압 강하 및 응답성 등의 문제를 야기한다. 또한, 전력변환장치 출력단의 커패시터에 초기 동작 시 과도한 동일전류가 발생하게 되고 이는 태양광모듈의 과전류 현상을 발생시켜 모듈의 수명과 더불어 퓨즈의 차단 및 발열 등 비이상적인 현상을 발생시킨다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하고자 스위칭 소자를 사용한 접속장치 적용하였고, 소프트 스타팅 기법을 이용하여 돌입전류를 저감하고자 한다. 제안한 알고리즘의 경우, 시뮬레이션을 통해서 검증하고자 한다.

  • In generally, grid connected single-phase flyback inverter is operated as boundary or discontinuous conduction mode. However, the flyback inverter can be operated in continuous conduction mode (CCM) due to its operating conditions in spite of it is designed to operate under boundary or discontinuous conduction mode. This situation causes unintended distortion to output current. In this paper, a current shaping method on unfolding bridge to reduce the output current distortion.

  • Among the PV-AC module topologies, the flyback inverter have been occupied the attention due to its simplicities on configuration and control. Proposed switching control method changes the mode of operation in DCM and BCM alternatively. It is expected that the high performances in efficiency and extension of input voltage range can be achieved by the conduction mode change. Proposed switching technique is validated by PSIM simulation.

  • This paper presents Building Integrated Photovoltaic system of the balcony type which is influenced by conditions such as irradiation, module temperature, shade and array arrangement. When architecture component, trees and cloud shade connecting array in series, total PV array current is reduced. So, before PV system design, a planner have to simulate many situations. And then array should be composed suitable for parallel and series modules. By the results, it is very important to develop optimal design of array considering shade effect for the balcony PV system.

  • This paper introduces various natural energy systems installed at the Eco-Science Center in Geumsan near Taejon. The center, especially, features different solar energy systems to harvest the solar energy to its full extent. Such passive schemes as direct gain and at lacked sun space are applied along with active solar ingredients using flat plate and double skin solar collectors. Space and water heating depends very little on the conventional means. Also a number of photovoltaic modules deployed within its premise supplies power to drive a water pump for the biotop. Combined with other natural energy utilizing systems, the solar energy systems make an exemplary model of a self sustainable public facility which is the first of its kind in Korea.

  • The photvoltaic power system has received considerable attention as the petroleumalterative energies to the environmental problems in the wored scale. $CuLnSe_2$is one ofthe most promising materials for the fabrication of large-area modules and low cost photovoltaic devices. Sulfur solute CuInSe2 thin films were prepared by RF sputtering using powder targer which were previously compacted by powder of $Cu_2Se, \;In_2Se_3, \;Cu_2S, \;and\;In_2S_3$ in various ratios. The results induicated that the sulfur ratio, the(112) texture, and the energy band gap were increased by the increase of the S/(S+Se) that was controlled by stoichiometric compound. The energy band gap can be shifted from 1.04eV to 1.50eV by abjusting the S/(S+Se) ratio, which maich it possible to obtain perfect match to the solar spectrum.
