In this study, activated carbon (AC) was treated with ferric ion by a sol-gel method. The compound (Fe-AC) was employed for the preparation of Fe-activated carbon/$TiO_2$, (Fe-AC/$TiO_2$) composites. The prepared Fe-AC/$TiO_2$ composites were characterized with surface properties, structural crystallinity, elemental identification and photocatalytic activity. The SEM results showed that ferric compounds and titanium dioxide were fixed onto the AC surfaces. The XRD results showed that Fe-AC/$TiO_2$ composites mostly contained anatase phase. EDX showed the presence of C, O, and Ti with Fe peaks in all samples. Its photocatalytic degradation effect was evaluated with the degradation behavior of the methylene blue (MB) solution. MB degradation could be attributed to the synergetic effects of adsorption, photo-degradation of $TiO_2$ and photo-Fenton of Fe component. The degradation rate for this photocatalysis was evaluated as a function of the concentration of the dye, the amount of $TiO_2$ and the pH. Photocataytic activity is good at activity pH.
Activated carbon fiber (ACF) was modified with MnS nanoparticles to prepare MnS-ACF, and it was employed for preparation of MnS-$ACF/TiO_2$ composites with titanium (IV) n-butoxide (TNB). The properties of MnS-$ACF/TiO_2$ composites were characterized by XRD, SEM, and EDX. EDX results showed the presence of C, O, and Ti as major elements and traces of the metal elements Mn and S. The photocatlytic activity was evaluated by degradation of methyl blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) dye. The results demonstrated that as-prepared samples could effectively photodegrade MB and MO under UV irradiation. Subsequently, the decomposition of MB solution showed the combined effects of adsorptions by ACF and enhanced photocatalytic effect by $TiO_2$. Finally, the photocatalytic effect increased due to photo-induced-electron absorption effect by ACF and electron trap effect by comodified MnS nanoparticles.
A self-organized nano-structured, photocatalytic $TiO_2$ membrane with large surface area of anatase crystallites was successfully fabricated by anodization. The nano-structured anodized $TiO_2$ membrane was characterized using EDX, SEM and XRD techniques and the effect of electrolyte type and concentration to fabricate $TiO_2$ metal membrane was also investigated. Regular nano tubular arrays were obtained By the EDX, SEM and XRD patterns, the anodized $TiO_2$ membrane showed the enhanced photocatalytic properties of anatase phase. Photocatalytic activities of fabricated $TiO_2$ metal membrane was also experimentally investigated as model compound of humic acid.
$MoS_2$ precursors were synthesized by reacting thioacetamide ($C_2H_5NS$) with sodium molybdate dihydrate ($Na_2MoO_4{\cdot}2H_2O$) in aqueous HCl solution. $MoS_2$ nanoparticles were prepared from dried $MoS_2$ precursors by calcination in an electric furnace at $700^{\circ}C$ for 2 h under an inert argon atmosphere. $MoS_2-C_{60}$ nanocomposites were obtained by heating $MoS_2$ nanoparticles and fullerene ($C_{60}$) together in an electric furnace at $700^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. Their morphological and the structural properties were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The $MoS_2$ nanoparticles and $MoS_2-C_{60}$ nanocomposites were used as catalysts in the reductions of 2-, 3-, and 4-nitrophenol in the presence of sodium borohydride. The photocatalytic activities of the $MoS_2$ nanoparticles and $MoS_2-C_{60}$ nanocomposites were evaluated in the degradation of organic dyes (brilliant green, methylene blue, methyl orange, and rhodamine B) under ultraviolet light (254 nm).
We report the facile synthesis of graphene-$CdLa_2S_4$ composite through a facile solvothermal method at low temperature. The as-prepared products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis and BET analysis, revealing the uniform covering of the graphene nanosheet with $CdLa_2S_4$ nanocrystals. The as-prepared samples show a higher efficiency for the photocatalytic degradation of typical MB dye compared with P25 and $CdLa_2S_4$ bulk nanoparticles. The enhancement of visible-light-responsive photocatalytic properties by decolorization of Rh.B dye may be attributed to the following causes. Firstly, graphene nanosheet is capable of accepting, transporting and storing electrons, and thus retarding or hindering the recombination of the electrons with the holes remaining on the excited $CdLa_2S_4$ nanoparticles. Secondly, graphene nanosheet can increase the adsorption of pollutants. The final cause is that their extended light absorption range. This work not only offers a simple way to synthesize graphene-based composites via a one-step process at low temperature but also a path to obtain efficient functional materials for environmental purification and other applications.

The influence of electron beam irradiation on photocatalytic activity of $TiO_2$ thin films was investigated. $TiO_2$ thin films were prepared by anodization of Ti foil, and they were then subjected to an 1 MeV electron beam. Changes in physical properties and photocatalytic activity of $TiO_2$ before and after e-beam irradiation were investigated. The crystallinity of the synthesized materials was investigated by X-ray diffraction, and the oxidation states of both titanium and oxygen were determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The density of donor ($N_d$) and flat band potential ($E_{fb}$) were investigated by Mott-Schottky analysis, and photocurrent was measured under a 1kW Xenon lamp illumination. After e-beam irradiation, significant change of Ti oxidation state was observed. $Ti^{3+}/Ti^{4+}$ ratio increased mainly due to the surface reduction by electron, and photocurrent was observed to increase with e-beam irradiation.
Well-dispersed Ag3VO4 nanoparticles @polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers were synthesized by an easily controlled, template-free method as a photo-catalyst for the degradation of methylene blue. Their structural, optical, and photocatalytic properties have been studied by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, field-emission scanning electron microscopy equipped with rapid energy dispersive analysis of X-ray, photoluminescence, and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. The characterization procedures revealed that the obtained material is PAN nanofibers decorated by Ag3VO4 nanoparticles. Photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue investigated in an aqueous solution under irradiation showed 99% degradation of the dye within 75 min. Finally, the antibacterial performance of Ag3VO4 nanoparticles @PAN composite nanofibers was experimentally verified by the destruction of Escherichia coli. These results suggest that the developed inexpensive and functional nanomaterials can serve as a non-precious catalyst for environmental applications.

GaOOH is obtained via hydrothermal synthesis procedure. The formed GaOOH is turned into α-Ga2O3 at 500℃ annealing. As the annealing temperatures increase the α-Ga2O3 is in part turned into β-Ga2O3 and fully turned into β-Ga2O3 after 1100℃. XPS and PL results reveal that heterojunction interface between α-Ga2O3 and β-Ga2O3 become maxim at 500℃ annealing condition, which result in the highest photocatalytic activity. The presence of heterojunction interface slows down the recombination process by separating photogenerated electron-hole pairs and thereby enhance the overall photocatalytic activity.

The development of advanced 3D printing technologies has opened up new opportunities for customized digital designs in the construction industry. Using nano- and micro-scale additives is expected to improve the performance of cement-based materials in 3D printing. TiO2 particles have been widely used as reinforcing additives in cement-based materials. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the application of cement-based materials containing multi-size TiO2 particles in binder jet 3D printing and the effect of different-size TiO2 particles on the performance of printed samples. TiO2 particles exhibit an excellent filling effect, which increases the density of the printed samples and promotes hydration, thereby improving the compressive strength of the samples. In addition, larger TiO2 particles exert more pronounced filling and photocatalytic effects on the resulting samples.
TiO$_2$-WO$_3$(8.2wt%) coatings were prepared by the APS (Atmospheric Plasma Spraying) process to clarify the relationship between the process parameters(H$_2$ gas flow rate of plasma 2nd gas and spraying distance) of the APS coating and photo-decomposition efficiency kinetics of the MB(methylene blue) aqueous solution decomposition and to understand the effect of addition of WO$_3$ on photocatalytic properties of TiO$_2$ sprayed coating. Further, the temperature and velocity of flying particles were measured by DPV-2000 to investigate the relationship between microstructure of coatings and process parameters. Properties of coatins were investigated by XRD, SEM, XPS, RAMAN, UV/VIS spectrometer. In case of the TiO$_2$-WO$_3$(8.2wt%) coating, it had a lower anatase fraction than that of pure-TiO$_2$ coatings because of flying in the higher temperature plasma plume by the heavy weight of TiO$_2$, WO$_3$. And, when WO$_3$ added powders were spayed, the doping effects of W ions substituted into the Ti ion sites was not occured during melting and solidification cycles of spraying. It was found that the addition of WO$_3$ was ineffective effective on increasing photo-decomposition efficiency of TiO$_2$ sprayed coating.
