$TiB_2$ 광촉매를 이용한 $NO_x$ 제거 (Removal of $NO_x$ by using of $TiB_2$ Photocatalysis)

  • This research was performed to purify water quality through removing T-N, and T-P and to estimating rate of $NO_x$ by the response of photocatalyst using ceramics. The ceramics was a mixtures of Titanium Diboride($TiB_2$) which is used to develop armored cars with excellent protective power and lightness, Olivine, and Hwangto with water and was furnaced for an hour at $1160^{\circ}C$. Hwangto and Olivine used in the study are produced at Haenam-gun, Jeonnam, and Andong-city, Gyeongsangbuk-do, respectively. The ground Hwangto and Olivine were seived through PR $100{\times}200$, and $TiB_2$ was a product of SIGMA ALDRICH. The experiment was performed under the sunlight, Mass flow controller was used for constant flow to pass through the pyrex reactor which was fully charged with furnaced ceramics. The concentration of $NO_2$ gas passed through the pyrex reactor was measured by Multi Gas Monitor. The reaction took for 60 minutes, The material was exposed to sunlight for 40 minutes. The sunlight was interrupted before and after the exposure for 10 minutes. The result showed that the concentration of $NO_2$ gas of the ceramics with $TiB_2$ and without $TiB_2$ became reduced and then maintained the same concentration under the sunlight, and became increased when the sunlight is interrupted. The $NO_2$ removing efficiency of the ceramics mixed with $TiB_2$ was 14~43% higher than that of the ceramics without $TiB_2$ under the sunlight. The study showed that the removing rate of $NO_2$ was 80% when the mixture rate of Hwangto, Olivine, and $TiB_2$ was 68%, 30% and 2%.

광촉매용 나노 TiO2 용사코팅층 특성 (Characterization of Thermal Spray Coating Layers of Nano Crystalline TiO2 for Photocatalyst)

  • Commercial nano crystalline $TiO_2$ powders were used to characterize photocatalyst, using thermal spray coating technique. The microstructure of coating layers were examined by SEM, FE-SEM and TEM. Also the cross sectional areas of TiO$_2$ coating layers were observed by SEM. The phases were analyzed by X-ray diffraction methed. Surface roughness and hardness were measured. It was found that phase transformation from anatase to rutile occurred, and the melted splats are all rutile, and unmeted nano particles were anatase. These unmelted anatase phase may enhance te play a role of photocatalyst.

Synthesis of Praseodymium-Doped TiO2 Nanocatalysts by Sol-Microwave and Their Photocatalytic Activity Study

  • The praseodymium-doped $TiO_2$ photocatalyst samples, which could degrade methyl orange under UV irradiation, were prepared by sol-microwave method for improving the photocatalytic activity of $TiO_2$. The resulting materials were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectra, Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR) and Ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectra (UV-vis DRS). It was found Pr doping retarded the growth of crystalline size and the phase transformation from anatase to rutile, and narrowed the band gap energy. Praseodymium doping brought about remarkable improvement in the photoactivity. The optimal dopant amount of Pr was 2% by molar of cement and the calcination temperature was $500^{\circ}C$ for the best photocatalytic activity. The improvement of photocatalytic activity was ascribed to the occurrence of lattice distortion and the effective containment of the recombination of the electron-hole by $Pr^{3+}$.

  • $TiO_2$ is an environment-friendly semiconducting material, and it has photocatalytic and hydrophilic effect. There are a lot of reports on the photocatalytic characteristics of $TiO_2$, such as organic pollutants resolving, anti-bacterial, and self-purification material. In this paper, $TiO_2$ micron-sized powders were deposited on the glass by room temperature powder spray in vacuum process, so called aerosol deposition (AD), and nano-grained $TiO_2$ photocatalytic thin films were fabricated. The thickness of the films were controlled by changing the number of deposition cycle. Morphologies and characteristics of the AD-$TiO_2$ thin films were examined by SEM, TEM, XRD, and UV-Visible Spectrophotometer. As the thickness of $TiO_2$ films increased, surface roughness increased. By this increment, the reaction area between film and pollutant was enlarged, resulting in better photocatalytic property.

Preparation of CdS-pillared $H_4Nb_6O_7$ and Photochemical Reduction of Nitrate under Visible Light Irradiation

  • $H_4Nb_6/O_{17}$/CdS nanocomposites which intercalated CdS particles, less than 0.8nm thickness, in the interlayer of $H_4Nb_6/O_{17}$ were prepared by the successive ion exchange reactions of $H_4Nb_6/O_{17}$ with $Cd^{2+}$ and $C_3H_7NH_3_+$, followed by the reaction with $H_2S$ gas. $H_4Nb_6/O_{17}$/CdS photocatalytically reduced $NO_3$ ̄ to $NO_2$ ̄ and $NH_3$in the presence of sacrificial hole acceptor such as methanol under visible light irradiation (wavelength>400nm), although unsupported CdS showed no noticeable photocatalytic activity for $NO_3$ ̄ reduction. The catalytic activity of $H_4Nb_6/O_{17}$/CdS greatly enhanced with co-doping of Pt particles in the interlayer.

광섬유를 이용한 광촉매 성능 측정 표준화의 이해 (Standard test method for Photocatalytic activity with optical fiber)

  • 최근 일본이 광촉매 관련 제품에서의 소비자 보호를 위한 적절한 표준화 규격 제정에 강한 의욕을 보이며, 자국내 JIS 규격 외에 ISO 규격 (ISO/TC 206 fine ceramics)을 제정하기 위하여 노력하고 있다. 이에 국내에서는 산업보호 및 해외시장에서의 종속성을 벗어나기 위하여 2001년부터 선정된 분야에서의 광촉매표준화 시도가 이루어졌다. 그 중의 하나로 본 논문은 광섬유를 빛 전달 매개체와 광촉매 코팅 지지체로 이용해서 광촉매 졸을 구성하는 광촉매 자체의 유기물 분해능을 결정하는 방법을 규정하는 과정과 제안과 관련된 것이다. 이 규격은 코팅 가능한 졸이나 졸로 만들 수 있는 자외선 감응 광촉매 재료에 적용하며, 차후 가시광 및 태양광 감응 광촉매 활성 측정 및 비교에도 응용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.
