  • In this paper, we present a depth extraction method of integral imaging using correlation between elemental images with phase only filter. Integral imaging is a passive three-dimensional (3D) imaging system records ray information of 3D objects through lenslet array by 2D image sensor, and displays 3D images by using the similar lenslet array. 2D images by lenslet array have different perspectives. These images are referred to as elemental images. Since the correlation can be calculated between elemental images, the depth information of 3D objects can be extracted. To obtain high correaltion between elemental images effectively, in this paper, we use phase only filter. Using this high correlation, the corresponding pixels between elemental images can be found so that depth information can be extracted by computational reconstruction technique. In this paper, to prove our method, we carry out optical experiment and calculate Peak Sidelobe Ratio (PSR) as a correlation metric.

  • Patient's respiration can have an effect on movement of tumor range and peripheral organs. Therefore, the respiratory signal was acquired by relation between external markers and movement of patient's abdomen during radiational therapy in order to minimize the effect of respiration. Based on this technique, many studies of rational therapy to irradiate at particular part of stable respiratory signals have executed and they have been clinically applied. Nevertheless, the phase-based method is preferred to the amplitude-based method for the rational therapy related to respiration. Because stabilization of the respiratory signal are limited. In this study, a in-house respiratory signal analysis program was developed for the phase reassignment and the analysis of the irregular respiratory signals. Various irregular respiratory patterns was obtained from clinical experimental volunteers. After then, the in-house program analyzed the factors affecting to phase assignment which is directly related to irradiated sector. Subsequently, accuracy of phase assignment was improved with removement of irregular signals by self-developed algorithm. This study is considered to be useful for not only image reconstruction and elevation of irradiating accuracy through phase assignment of RPM system but also analysis of respiratory signals. Moreover, development of 4D CT image is planed with phantom researches or clinical experiments based on this program.

  • The diffraction efficiencies of gratings are affected by the inner structure which is determined by modulation type. CGH (Computer generated Hologram) basically uses the principles of a diffraction grating. As like as the diffraction gratings the patterns recorded in the CGH are different according to modulation methods which result in the performances of the reconstructed images. In this paper, on this fact CGHs are recorded according to sinusoidal and rectangular modulation methods and the characteristics of reconstructed images are analyzed. Also the reconstruction performances of the amplitude and phase, phase-only and binary phase CGH are analyzed.

  • This paper presents a fast switching direct torque control (FS-DTC) using only a single DC-link current sensor. In FS-DTC, six new active voltage complex space vectors (CSVs) are synthesized by the conventional active voltage space vectors (SVs). The corresponding sectors are rotated in the anticlockwise direction by 30 degrees. A selection table is defined to select the CSVs. Based on the "Different Phase Mode", the output sequence of the selected CSV is optimized. Accordingly, a reconstruction method is proposed to acquire the phase currents. The core of the FS-DTC is that all of the three phase currents can be reliably reconstructed during every two sampling periods, which is the result of the fast switching between different phases. The errors between the reconstructed and actual currents are strictly limited in one sampling period. The FS-DTC has the advantages of the standard DTC scheme such as simple structure, quick torque response and robustness. As can be seen in the analysis, the FS-DTC can be thought of as an equivalent standard DTC scheme with 86.6% of the maximum speed, 173.2% of the torque ripple, and 115% of the response time of the torque. Based on a dSPACE DS1103 controller, the FS-DTC is implemented in an induction machine drive system. The results verify the effectiveness of the FS-DTC.

  • The microbial cellulose is in a form of three dimensional net structures that consists of 20~50 nm fibrils. It possesses high crystallinity and orientation. It is difficult to synthesize large amount of fibrous carbon nanomaterials by the carbonization process using raw materials such as polyacrylonitrile (PAN), regenerated cellulose (Rayon) and pitch. However, it seems possible thru the application of microbial cellulose as raw material. The application of such cellulose can be further extended to the synthesis of highly oriented graphite fiber. Out of three different cellulose-producing strains, G. xylinus ATCC11142 was chosen as it has the highest productivity (0.066 g dried cellulose/15 mL medium). Tar is often produced during the carbonization of cellulose that limits the formation fibrous structure of the carbonized sample. In order to solve such a problem, pre-studied purification methods of carbon nanotube such as liquid phase oxidation, gas phase oxidation and filtration associated with ultrasonication were applied at the carbonized cellulose. In that case. only by filtration associated with ultrasonication, improved the formation of fiber structure of the carbonized cellulose.

  • M channel near-perfect-reconstruction(NPR) pseudo-QMF banks are a hybrid of conventional pseudo-QMF design and spectral factorization approach where the analysis and synthesis filters are cosine-modulated versions of the prototype-lowpass filter(p-LPF). However, p-LPF H(z) does not have linear-phase symmetry as well as magnitude-distortion optimization since it is obtained by spectral factorization of $2M^{-th}$ band filter $G(z)=z^{-(N-1)}H(z^{-1})H(z)$. A fair amount of attention, therefore, has been focused on the design of filter banks for reducing only alias-cancellation distortion without reconstructed-amplitude distortion. In this paper, we propose a new method for designing linear-phase p-LPF in NPR pseudo-QMF banks, which is based on Maxflat(maximally flat) FIR filters with closed-form transfer function. In addition, p-LPF H(z) is optimized in this approach so that the 2M-channel overall distortion response represented with $G(z)=H^2(z)$ approximately becomes an unit magnitude response. Through several examples of NPR pseudo-QMF banks, it is shown that the peek ripple of the overall magnitude distortion is less than $3.5{\times}10^{-4}\;({\simeq}-70dB)$ and analysis/synthesis filters have the sharp monotone-stopband attenuation exceeding 100 dB.

  • In this paper, we propose a method using deep learning for high-resolution display of phase holograms. If a general interpolation method is used, the brightness of the reconstruction result is lowered, and noise and afterimages occur. To solve this problem, a hologram was trained with a neural network structure that showed good performance in the single-image super resolution (SISR). As a result, it was possible to improve the problem that occurred in the reconstruction result and increase the resolution. In addition, by adjusting the number of channels to increase performance, the result increased by more than 0.3dB in same training.

  • The changes of electromagnetic wave velocity in rock were monitored to investigate rock behaviors due to the drill & blasting excavations through georadar tomography during the construction of the underground rock laboratory (5 m wide, 6 m high, and 140 m long) at Mabuk-Ri, Goosung-Myun, Yongin-Si, Kyunggi-Do. Two horizontal boreholes spaced 1.4 m apart were drilled parallel to the test tunnel before excavating it, high-resolution crosshole georadar tomography with about 500 MHz electromagnetic waves was performed at pre-excavation phase (May, 1996) and post-excavation phase (August, 1996). The data were acquired with the combination of 34 sources and 44 receivers with space of 0.3 m. Only 11 continuous receivers were selectively utilized with one fixed source. Sampling interval was 0.4 ns and each trace has 512 samples. The first arrival of each trace was picked manually with a picking software. The total number of rays used in inversion amounted to 34x11 and the size of pixel was determined to be 0.3 m. As an inversion technique, SIRT(Simultaneous Iterative Reconstruction Technique) was applied in this study. The velocity of electromagnetic waves at post-excavation phase decreased as large as 15% in comparison with that at pre-excavation phase, which may be attributed to the creation of micro-cracks in rock due to excavations and saturation with groundwater. Small amount of borehole deviation made a critical effect in radar tomography. Totally different tomograms were created after borehole deviation corrections.

  • We have investigated magnetic properties of monolayer (ML)-thickness Co film deposited on InP(2${\times}$4) reconstruction surface using in situ Surface Magneto-Optical Kerr Effects (SMOKE) measurement system. InP(2${\times}$4) reconstruction surface, obtained by repeated sputtering and annealing, was confirmed by reflection hish energy electron diffraction (RHEED) and scanning tunneling microscope (STM) measurements. From both longitudinal and polar SMOKE measurements, we have observed three distinguishable regions showing different magnetic properties depending on the Co thickness. In the Co film thickness smaller than 7 $m\ell$, no SMOKE signal was detected. In the following thickness between 8 $m\ell$ and 15 $m\ell$, both longitudinal and polar Kerr hysteresis loops were observed, which implies a metastable phase coexisted of in-plane and perpendicular anisotropies. In the film thickness larger than 16 $m\ell$, only longitudinal MOKE signal without polar signal was detected, which implies existence of in-plane anisotropy in this thickness region.

  • In recent years, a hierarchical security architecture has been widely studied because it can efficiently protect information by allowing an authorized user access to the level of information. However, the conventional hierarchical decryption methods require several decryption keys for the high level information. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical image encryption using random phase masks and Walsh code having orthogonal characteristics. To decrypt the hierarchical level images by only one decryption key, we combine Walsh code into the hierarchical level system. For encryption process, we first perform a Fourier transform for the multiplication results of the original image and the random phase mask, and then expand the transformed pattern to be the same size and shape of Walsh code. The expanded pattern is finally encrypted by multiplying with the Walsh code image and the binary phase mask. We generate several encryption images as the same encryption process. The reconstruction image is detected on a CCD plane by a despread process and Fourier transform for the multiplication result of encryption image and hierarchical decryption keys which are generated by Walsh code and binary random phase image. Computer simulations demonstrate that the proposed technique can decrypt hierarchical information by using only one level decryption key image and it has a good robustness to the data loss such as random cropping.
