Since an LFSR as a pattern generator has solely linear dependency in itself, it generates sequences by moving the bit positions for a pattern generation. So the correlation between the generated patterns is high and thus reduces the possibility of fault detection. To overcome these problems many researchers have studied to have goodness of randomness between the output test patterns. In this paper, we propose the new and effective method to construct phase shifter as PRPG.

This paper proposes a design of W-band mm-wave wideband monopulse comparator using waveguide structure for applications. The main idea of proposed design is to combine a self-compensating phase shifter on $90^{\circ}$ hybrid for wideband $180^{\circ}$ hybrid. Using multiple conventional phase shifters, because of their narrow-band characteristics, tends to restrict working bandwidth of system including antennas. Proposed comparator could relieve the problem since it applies the self-compensating phase shifter. The comparator has waveguide structure so it shows excellent characteristic in loss. It also show wideband characteristic in amplitude and phase response between ports.

An active phased away antenna consists of many channels including radiator and active circuitary that contains low noise amplifiers and phase shifters. Each channel has different initial phase shift and gain because of inequality in active circuitary itself, interface between radiator and active circuitary, beam forming network and other antenna configurations. This is an inherent problem in active phased away antenna, therefore each channels' initial phase shifts and gains should be calibrated for obtaining the designed radiation pattern and antenna gain. In this paper, an efficient calibration method for the active phased array antenna is presented. By performing the above method, thhe antenna gain is increased more than 2.0 dB after calibrating considerably unequal 12 channels' initial phase shifts and gains.

The proposed variable pawer divider in this paper is composed of one equal power 2-way Wilkinson power divider, two variable phase shifters with 90-degree phase variation to be connected two output paths of the 2-way power divider, and one branchline coupler to combine output signals of two variable phase shifter. The proposed variable power divider can theoretically have an arbitrary power division ratio ranging from ${\infty}:1$ to ${\infty}:1$ due to 90-degrees phase variation of two phase shifter. The proposed power divider circuit fabricates on laminated TLX-9(h=20 mil, er=2.5; Taconic) with a center frequency of 1.7 GHz. The power division ratio of the fabricated prototype varies from about 1:100 to 200:1, with an input reflection characteristic(S11) of below -16 dB, an insertion loss of about -1.0 dB, and an isolation characteristic of below -17 dB between two output ports in the range 1.65-1.75 GHz.

In this paper, a broadband phase shifter structure using a new switched network was proposed. A new reference network is composed of coupled lines and 45$^{\circ}$open and short stubs, which are shunted at the edge points of a main line, respectively, A delay network is composed of only a standard transmission line. It is possible to design a broadband 180$^{\circ}$phase shifter that phase dispersive characteristics by an impedance ratio R of coupled lines and greater phase dispersive characteristics by characteristic impedances Zm, Zs of a main line and stubs are used together. By considering a structure symmetry, the even and odd mode analysis was performed to obtain theoretical S-parameters of the proposed phase shifter. Also, through computer simulation on the basis of derived equations, design graphs were presented to optimally design a 180$^{\circ}$broadband phase shifter. Design graphs provide the values of characteristic impedances Zm, Zs, and I/O match and phase bandwidths. To verify electrical performances of the broadband phase shifter proposed in this paper, low different 180$^{\circ}$phase shifters, operated at the center frequency 3 GHz were designed and fabricated using design graphs, and were experimented. One of them was designed as a standard Schiffman structure to compare with electrical performances. Measured results of each phase shifter to satisfy simultaneously design conditions of I/O match (VSWR=1.15:1) and maximum phase deviation $({\varepsilon}_{{\Delta}{\phi}}={\pm}2^{\circ})$ were well in agreement with corresponding simulation results over impedance match and phase error bandwidths, and showed broadband characteristics.

In this paper, the planar, compact, and broadband phased array antenna system for IMT-2000 applications has been investigated. Two methods far designing a low-cost and low-complex beam-farming network are proposed. First, a new compact and broadband phase shifter with continuously controlled phase bits is designed by using parallel coupled lines. Second, its equivalent phase delay line is suggested to be capable of replacing the complex phase shifter with a reference phase bit on a phased array antenna. For the purpose of achieving the broadband system, in addition to the broadband phase shifter, a wide-slot antenna with a ground reflector is utilized as an element antenna. Therefore, the phased array antenna system has achieved compact size, broad bandwidth, and wide steering angle, although it has low complexity and low fabrication cost. The 3${\times}$1 phased array antenna system has a compact size of 1.6 λ${\times}$ l.6 λ, which is the sufficient ground plane of the wide-slot antenna. Experimental results present that the S$\_$11/ has less than 15 dB within the band and its radiation patterns on an E-plane have the capability of steering an antenna beam from -29$^{\circ}$to +30$^{\circ}$.

In order to improve readability, a leakage-signal canceller has been proposed in UHF-band RFID readers. The proposed canceller is composed of two blocks: an environment monitoring block for detection of Tx and RX power levels and a leakage cancellation block. The leakage canceller consists of directional-couplers, digital attenuators and phase shifters based on the feed-forward scheme. The leakage canceller is located between antenna and reader. An improved experimental characterization of the scheme is presented with results from the reader operating in the Korean RFID frequency band, conforming the validity of the approach with more than 29 dB of leakage cancellation.

(Ba,Sr,Ca)TiO$_3$ powders, prepared by the sol-gel method, were mixed with organic binder and the BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen printing techniques on alumina substrates. All the BSCT thick films, sintered at 1420$^{\circ}C$, showed the typical XRD patterns of a perovskite polycrystalline structure. The average grain sizes decreased with increasing amounts of ZrO$_2$, and the BSCT(40/40/20) thick films doped with 2wt% MnO$_2$ showed a value of 8$\mu\textrm{m}$. The thickness of thick films by four-cycle on printing/drying was approximately 951$\mu\textrm{m}$. The relative dielectric constant decreased with increasing Ca content and MnO$_2$ doping amount. The relative dielectric constant, dielectric loss and tunability of the BSCT(50/40/10) thick films doped with 2.0wt% ZrO$_2$ were 772, 0.184% and 15.62%, respectively.

A new concept of adaptive focusing, using a Rotman lens, is presented in this paper. A Rotman lens is a microwave lens which is able to focus microwave power on its focal arc or generate multiple beams. By adding the array of phase shifters between a Rotman lens and antenna elements, the wavefront can be adaptively modulated to focus objects distributed in short range rather than far-field zone. From the optical point of view, the propagations of the lens have been simplified from the Fresnel diffraction integral to the Fourier transform. Using Fourier Transform, a beam propagation method has been developed to show improvement of the resolution by controlling wavefront of wave propagating from an aperture-type antenna array. The beam width(or spot size) and intensity have been calculated for a focused beam propagating from an array having $10{\lambda}$ of its size. For the beam with $20{\lambda},\;30{\lambda}$, and $50{\lambda}$ of geometrical focal length, the half-power beamwidth (spot size) is about $1.1{\lambda},\;1.3{\lambda}$, and $1.9{\lambda}$, respectively.

In this paper, the performance enhancement of a time-modulated array is described. The proposed time-modulated array is based on the topology of a conventional array but uses apodized discrete time switching, instead of phase shifters, to achieve beamforming functions with side-band suppression. Numerical simulations are carried out to examine the performance of this beamforming system based on apodized time sequence of 16 elements linear array. Numerical results reveal that the proposed method provides a more flexible and accurate way of producing desired beampatterns with low or ultralow side-lobe level (SLL) compared with the conventional methods.
