The foundation for the theoretical establishment of the linear motor lies in the investigation of the magnetic flux distribution in its airgaps. Generally speaking, the linear motor is similar, in the principle of its operation, to the general induction motor. However, there are great differences in the aspects of its structure and characteristics, especially, in the fact that the formation of its travelling magnetic field depends on the method of its winding. This paper is written in order to introduce the method of calculating the air gap magnetic flux distribution on the basis of its ampere-conductor in the case that 2 phase winding is applied on its open magnetic circuit iron core, and to present the results of investigation of the pulsation in its travelling fields. the first and second example of winding show the case of travelling magnetic field with the constant amplitude except the end region. The third example deals with the configuration of coil-side displaced outside the core and which produce the increased flux density at the ends, but, on the contrary, forms the pulsated travelling field.
This paper deals with the application of a sound-ray method to the analysis of the sound field in an ultrasonic cleaner. In order to include the wave interference phenomenon, the method has been modified to consider the phase of sound rays, The improved algorithm has been implemented by developing a Visual C++ program, The algorithm has been verified by comparing the analysis results of BEM reported earlier. It has been shown that the algorithm can be used to calculate ultrasonic fields in a cleaning- container with an object to be cleaned.
A three-dimensional (3D) unstructured hydrodynamic solver for transient two-phase flows has been developed for a 3D component of a nuclear system code and a component-scale analysis tool. A two-fluid three-field model is used for the two-phase flows. The three fields represent a continuous liquid, an entrained liquid, and a vapour field. An unstructured grid is adopted for realistic simulations of the flows in a complicated geometry. The semi-implicit ICE (Implicit Continuous-fluid Eulerian) numerical scheme has been applied to the unstructured non-staggered grid. This paper presents the numerical method and the preliminary results of the calculations. The results show that the modified numerical scheme is robust and predicts the phase change and the flow transitions due to boiling and flashing very well.
In single-phase magnetically coupled resonant (MCR) wireless power transfer (WPT) systems, the transfer characteristics, including the output power and transfer efficiency, are significantly influenced by the spatial scales of its coils. As a potential alternative, a three-phase MCR WPT system with cylinder-shaped coils that are excited in a voltage-fed manner has been proposed to satisfy the requirements of compact space. This system adopts a phase-shifted angle control scheme to generate a rotating magnetic field and to realize omnidirectional WPT that is immune to spatial scales. The magnetic field model and equivalent circuit models are built to holistically analyze the system characteristics under different angular misalignments. Research results show that the transfer characteristics can be improved by modulating the phase-shifted angle in each phase. Experiments have also been carried out to evaluate the accuracy of the theoretical analysis and to confirm the validity of the system modeling method.
We report the changes of the microwave reflection coefficients S$_{11}$ of copper(II)-phthalocyanine (CuPc) thin films by using a near-field microwave microscope(NSMM) in order to understand the phase transition of CuPc. For a NSMM system, a high-quality microstrip resonator coupled with a dielectric resonator was used. CuPc thin films were prepared on the pre-heated glass substrates using a thermal evaporation method. The reflection coefficients S$_{11}$ of CuPc thin films were changed by the dependence on the substrate pre-heating temperatures. By comparing reflection coefficient S$_{11}$ and crystal structures, we found the phase transition of CuPc thin films from $\alpha$-phase to $\beta$-phase at the substrate heating temperature 200 $^{\circ}C$./TEX>.
Highly (111)-oriented PZT [Pb(Zrl-xTix)O3] thin films in the Zr-rich rhombohedral phase-field were successfully fabricated on Pt(111)/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by combining PLD method with sol-gel process. These highly (111)-oriented films can be used as model systems for polarized Raman scattering study of PZT in the rhombohedral-Phase field because the (111)-direction is the principal off-center axis of the rhombohedral ferroelectricity. For this purpose, we have fabricated PZT films employing two distinctive compositions : one with Zr/Ti = 90/10 (abbreviated as PZT90/10) and the other with Zr/Ti= 60/40 (PZT60/40). The PZT90/10 film belongs to the octahedrally distorted FR(LT) phase with a cell-doubled structure, whereas the PZT60/40 is in the high-temperature FR(HT) phase-field at room temperature. To clearly separate E(TO) phonon modes from Al(TO) modes of the (111)-oriented rhombohedral film, we have suitably devised Z(X,Y)Z and Z(X,X)Z backscattering geometries for E(TO) and Al (TO), respectively. The polarized scattering experiment demonstrated that both types of (111)-oriented rhombohedral films closely followed the Raman selection rule.
This study presents a groundbreaking analytical approach to find an exact solution for the bearing capacity of strip footings on reinforced slopes, utilizing the two-phase approach and slip line method. The two-phase approach is considered as a generalized homogenization technique. The slip line method is leveraged to derive the stress field as a lower bound solution and the velocity field as an upper bound solution, thereby facilitating the attainment of an exact solution. The key finding points out the variation of the bearing capacity factor Nγ with influencing factors including the backfill soil friction angle, the footing setback distance from the slope crest edge, slope angle, strength, and volumetric fraction of inclusion layers. The results are evaluated by comparing them with those of relevant studies in the literature considering analytical and experimental studies. Through the application of the two-phase approach, it becomes feasible to determine the tensile loads mobilized along the inclusion layers associated with the failure zone. It is attempted to demonstrate the results by utilizing non-dimensional graphs to clearly illustrate variable impacts on reinforced soil stability. This research contributes significantly to advancing geotechnical engineering practices, specifically in the realm of static design considerations for reinforced soil structures.
A computer code for Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT) is developed to sense the cross sectional phase distribution of two-phase flow in the rectangular pipe in which the tomography sensor furnished by the insulated wall, electrodes, and electric field screen. The computer code had two steps for the image reconstruction. In the forward projection step, the sensitivity matrix was constructed based on the electric field calculated by the finite difference method. In the backward projection step, the sensitivity matrix and the measured capacitances were used to reconstruct the cross sectional image. Several algorithms including LBP, TR, ITR, and PLI were employed to find the proper one for the two-phase flow analysis. Since the dielectric constant of the water in two-phase flow is sensitive to the thermal parameter such as, temperature and pressure, the developed code was evaluated to find their accuracy, speed of calculation, and sensitivity to the variation of the dielectric constant. It was found that the iterative methods are superior to the direct methods for the image reconstruction, and the PLI method was the best in the variation of the dielectric constants.
This work deals with a switching method for minimizing overcurrent in a three-phase interleaved bidirectional DC-DC converter with frequency modulation. Generally, a three-phase interleaved DC-DC converter is used to reduce a current ripple component. The combined operation of three-phase and two-phase converters can significantly reduce the ripple component. However, the conventional PWM method cannot solve severe overcurrent during phase transfer or frequency variation for power control. To overcome this problem, this work proposes a new PWM switching method. A 3 kW DC-DC power converter is designed and implemented, and the converter is operated in discontinuous current mode with varying switching frequencies for power control. Simulation and experimental results show the validity of the proposed switching method. The proposed switching method can be widely used in the field of current ripple reduction for three-phase interleaved bidirectional DC-DC converters.
This paper is concerned with the problems of accurate losses segregation in capacitor-run single phase motor. Segregation of losses in single phase induction motor is more complicated than that in three phase induction motor, because of the backward magnetic field component in the motor. Generally there are two methods for losses segregation of single phase induction motor. The one is relatively complicated method based on parameter estimation of single phase induction motor. By the way, the other one is simplified method based on IEEE Standard 114. All of the methods for the experimental determination of single phase induction motor losses are studied in this paper. Since the IEEE Standard is not possible to be applied for all type of single phase induction motors, we modified that method to apply for losses segregation of capacitor-run single phase induction motor as unifying the method based on parameter estimation.
