In this paper, the concept of persistent excitation(PE) is examed and the model reference adaptive control of a linear plant subjected to bounded disturbances is considered. Computer simulation reasults of nonlinear differential equations shows that the global behavior of the adaptive system depends upon the PE of the reference input as well as the amplitude of the external disturbances. The sufficient conditions on the PE of the reference input for the signals in the adaptive system to be globally bounded has been derived.

Transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN), respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), and persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN) are the three most common disorders that cause respiratory distress after birth. An understanding of the pathophysiology of these disorders and the development of effective therapeutic strategies is required to control these conditions. Here, we review recent papers on the pathogenesis and treatment of neonatal respiratory disease.

An optoelectronic implementation of analog and non-volatile synaptic weights of neural networks is proposed by using the doping modulated amophous silicon multilayer. The persistent photoconductivity(PPC) of the multilayer induced by a short illumination is characterized in experiment and implemented to the non-volatile synaptic weights. An optoelectronic processor with the single layer perceptron algorithm is also proposed. Some learning equations of the processor and the results of simulation are presented.

잔류성 유기오염물질(POPs; Persistent Organic Pollutants)은 환경 내에서 분해가 느려 잔류성이 높고, 생체 지질에 축적되는 독성이 강한 특성이 있다. 따라서 스톡홀름 협약(2001년 5월 23일)에서 12종의 POPs 물질에 대해 국제적 사용금지 및 관리가 결정되었다. POPs는 대부분 반휘발성(semi-volatile) 이어서 대기 중 장거리 이동되어 배출지와 다른 곳에 침적되는 것이 보고되어있다. 이러한 물질들의 대기 중 잔류량과 기체상과 입자상의 분포 특성을 살펴서 환경 내 이동성을 파악하는 것은 인체위해성 수준을 알아내는데 중요한 자료이다. (중략)

The purpose of this paper is to research the effect of a reflection journal on self motivated-learners' study. The learners were divided into experimental and control groups, we carried out the pre- and post- surveys, and compared the groups' academic achievements. As a result, their persistent learning, self-efficacy, learning attitude somewhat improved and their academic achievement as well.

Recent high profile attacks have brought the attention of governments, corporations, and the general public towards the dangers posed by Advanced Persistent Threats. This paper provides an analysis of the attack vectors employed by these actors by studying several recent attacks. We present recommendations on how to best defend against these threats by better classification of critical information infrastructure and assets, people protection, penetration tests, access control, security monitoring, and patch management.

This paper reflects on the relationship between postcolonial criticism (PC) and Southeast Asian Studies. The emphasis is on the apparent premature retreat from PC as well as its unfulfilled promises and persistent pitfalls. I argue that it is premature to abandon PC because it remains relevant, even essential, in the context of the much ballyhooed age of "knowledge economy" or "information society." There is a need to take another look at its promises and to work towards fulfilling them, but at the same time be conscious of its persistent problems.

We have grown the long persistent $SrAl_2O_4:Eu^{2+},\;Dy^{3+}$ phosphor single crystal by Verneuil method. The obtained single crystals were long persistent phosphorescence peaking at ${\lambda}=520nm$ with a size of about 5 mm diameter, 55 mm length. The melting temperature of $SrAl_2O_4:Eu^{2+},\;Dy^{3+}$ measured $T_{mp}=1968^{\circ}C$. The optimum composition was $SrCO_3:Al(OH)_3:Eu_2O_3:Dy_2O_3$ = 1 : 2 : 0.015 : 0.02. Flow rate of $H_2:O_2$ is about 4 : 1. Growthing rate is about 5 mm/hr. The spectra of the phosphorescence from the crystals are quite similar to those obtained with sintered powders used for luminous pigments. The crystalline structure of long persistent $SrAl_2O_4:Eu^{2+},\;Dy^{3+}$ phosphor single crystal was determined by X-ray diffraction.

A 9-year-old intact female Shih-Tzu was presented with abdominal pain and abdominal distension. Since the animal's birth, the owner had never observed proestrous bleeding in the patient. Ultrasonography revealed segmental enlargement of the genital system. An ovariohysterovaginectomy was performed to remove the genital mass. The vagina was grossly dilated as a result of being filled with a solid black-green substance. A vaginogram was performed. Based on the surgical findings and vaginogram results, an imperforate hymen was diagnosed. One month from the first surgery, a stump pyocolpos developed between the sutured site and the obstructed portion. The persistent hymen was removed by endoscopy. However, peritonitis and sepsis developed after the procedure, and the dog died. Therefore, During operation of persistent hymen, a cruciate incision over the hymen strongly recommended to avoid additional post operative complications.

Objective : This study was done to define the treatment protocol of Traditional Korean Medicine for persistent allergic rhinitis, which might be necessary for conducting PRCT study. Methods : Data were collected by questionnaire from Korean Medicine doctors participated in the Conference of The Korean Oriental Medical Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology & Dermatology Society in October 2012. We investigated their treatment procedures for persistent allergic rhinitis in ordinary clinical settings. Their treatment patterns including annual treatment period, frequencies and treatment times were also investigated. Finally, we combined the national insurance covered or out-of-pocket treatments as treatment packages according to the response rates of each contents, and displayed them as treatment protocols for PRCT study. Results : 50 Korean medicine doctors described the informed consent and questionnaire. Response rates of each treatment procedure were listed in Table 2 to Table 5. Treatment periods, frequencies and treatment time of each visit were listed in Table 6. Finally, treatment packages which would be defined for PRCT were listed in Table 7 as treatment package 1(response rates were over 50%), package 2(response rates were over 25%), package 3(response rates were over10%). Conclusion : These results provide the rational background and preliminary sources of defining treatment packages for developing PRCT protocols.
