플라즈마 고분자 필름의 기체투과도 : 온도의존성에 관한 연구 (Gas Permeabilities of Plasma Polymerized Films : Temperature Dependence Study)

  • Composite membranes were prepared by the deposition of pentafluoropyridine(PFP) or pentafluorotoluene(PFT) plasma films onto porous Celgard and nonporous poly(dimethylsiloxane) [PDMS] films. Gas permeation measurements for the composite membranes were made in the temperature range of 35$^{\circ}$C to 75 $^{\circ}$C and the solubilities in plasma polymers were measured using a Cahn Microbalance. The permeability coefficients of plasma polymers obeyed the Arrhenius relationship fairly wall. Activation energies for permeation in the plasma films increased with the size of penetrant molecules. The activation energy of plasma polymers was much lower than that of commonly used perfluoropolymers. This difference was proved to be attributable to the much lower heat of solutions of the plasma polymers compared to perfluoropolymers. The diffusion activation energies were comparable with each other.

  • A series of copolymer membranes of 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA) with selected hydrophobic monomers were prepared without crosslinking agents. The equilibrium water content, the partition coefficient, and the permeability of the solutes such as urea, methylurea, 1,3-di-methylurea, and acetamide via these membranes were measured. The partition coefficient data show that as the hydrophobicity of solutes increased, the partition of solutes were dictated by hydrophobic interaction between solute and polymer matrix. Diffusion coefficients obtained in these experiments decrease as the water content of polymer membrane decreases. This decrease is blunt as the excess heat capacities, ${\phi}C^0_p$ (excess) in aqueous solution at infinite dilution of solute increases. To investigate the relationship between water content and diffusion coefficient, the results of the diffusion experiments were examined in light of a free-volume model of diffusive transport. The remarkable increase of urea mobility in the polymer network containing relatively larger bulk water can be considered as water structure breaking effect.

Gas Permeable Membranes Composed of Carboxylated Poly(vinyl chloride) and Polyurethane

  • Gas-Permeable polymeric membranes containing carboxyl groups which are suitable for enzyme immobilization were investigated in order to use them as gas electrode membranes in biosensors. Carboxylated polyurethane (CPU) was synthesized via a reaciton between 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)propionic acid as a chain extender and prepolymers prepared from polycarprolactone(Mn=2,000) and 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocynate. It was difficult to prepared membranes from the pure CPU because of its high elasticity and cohesion. However, transparent free-standing membranes were easily prepared from the blend solution of CPU and carboxylated poly(vinyl chloride)(CPVC) in tetrahydrofuran. Both elasticity and cohesion of the CPU/CPVC membranes were decreased with increasing the content of CPVC. DSC experiment suggests that CPU and CPVC may be well mixed. Permeability coefficients for O₂and CO₂(Po₂and Pco₂)in the membranes increased as the proportion of CPU increased. The addition of dioxtyl phthalate(DOP), a plasticizer, significantly enhanced the Po₂and Pco₂which were 4,4 and 30 barrer, respectively, in the CPU/CPVC(80/20 wt/wt) membranes containing 20% of DOP at 25℃ and 100psi. Thus this type of membranes may have a potential for the use as gas electrode membranes in biosensors.

조립재가 흙의 역학적 성질에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Coarse mateflal on the mechanical properties of Soil)

  • The study was carried out for the strength parameter of coarse grained Soil and slope stability analysis of earth dam. The test samples were taken fifteen kinds of soil from cohesive soil to coarse gravel. The degree of compaction of test samples for shear test and permeability test was chosen 95 percentage of maximum dry density. The results of this study are as follows ; 1.The maximum dry density(Yd) of coarse grained soil increase in proportion to coarse particles(P) with the relation of Y d= 1.609+0.0043P. 2.The coefficients of permeability(k) decrease by the increase of fine particles(n) with the relation of k=0.0426e-0 185n. 3.The cohesions of soil decrease by the increase of coarse particles, but internal friction angles are more increased in same condition. 4.The internal friction angles(${\Phi}$) decrease in inverse proportion to void ratio(e) with the relation of ${\Phi}$ = 73.068 - 69.268e. 5.The strength parameters( Ct ${\Phi}$t) by triaxial compression test are clearly smaller than that (Cd, ${\Phi}$d) by direct shear test in fine grained soil, but the differences between both parameters are a little in coarse grained soil.The relations of both parameters are as follows; Ct = O.544Cd + 0.04 ${\Phi}$t= 1.282${\Phi}$d-2306 6.In cohesive soil, the strength parameters( Cl ${\Phi}$l) by large size shear test apparatus are similar to the strength parameters(Cs , ${\Phi}$s) by small size shear test appratus, but Cs and ${\Phi}$s values are larger than Cl and ${\Phi}$l values from 10 percentage to 20 percentage in coarse grained soil. 7.The fine grained soil is inappropriate to high dam more than 20 meters and it must be taken coarse grained soil with high internal friction angle for high dam.

청바지의 소재별 쾌적감에 관한 연구 (Comport Sensation of Blue Jeans depending on Fiber Contents)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the comfort sensation depending on four different kinds of denim blue jeans: cotton, cotton/tencel, tencel, cotton/pp. The objective and subjective experiments were conducted to measure the comfort of blue jeans. To investigate the objective comfort, physical properties related to thermal insulation, moisture properties and hand were measured. For subjective comfort measurement, 5 healthy female college students were taken as subjects. The outcomes of the experiments are as follows: The higher the air permeability and bulk density of the denim, the lower the thermal insulation, the thicker the denim, the higher the thermal insulation. Tencel blending denim showed the higher bulk density, the lower air contents, and consequently the lower thermal insulation than the other denims. Tencel showed the highest moisture regain, and cotton/tencel blend showed the highest water vapor permeability. Tencel denim had relatively better flexibility, shape stability and elastic recovery than the other denims. The total hand values of the denims by KES-FB system were not significantly different. Cotton and cotton/pp denims raised the subjects body temperature after excercise more than tencel or cotton/tencel denims. Average skin temperature was found to have a correlation with micro climate temperature and micro climate humidity. The correlation coefficients were 0.749 and 0.767, respectively. However, average skin temperatures were not significantly different among the materials. Pulse rate was found to be the highest when wearing cotton/pp and the lowest in case of cotton/tencel denim. The energy was consumed in order of cotton>cotton/pp>tencel>cotton/tencel. There was no significant difference in preference before excercise, but, after the excercise, the order of preference changed as the following; cotton/tencel>tencel>cotton/pp>cotton.

  • This thesis studied effect of zoning on seepage flow in concrete faced gravel-fill dam (CFGD) designed to have selected main rockfill or gravel-fill zone, Zone 3Bs with higher permeability to enhance the safety against accidental water infiltration into the dam. For this purpose, centrifuge model tests with two cases, with and without Zone 3Bs, were performed in order to investigate the necessity and the function of Zone 3Bs. Model dams were made by soil samples with modified coefficients of permeability and concrete faced slab was simulated with aluminum alloy. Water infiltration was simulated by rising water table over cracks on the facing. Behaviors of model dams were measured by LVDTs, strain gages, pore water pressures and cameras. Form the results of centrifuge tests, it was found out that the Zone 3Bs acts as a protection of main gravel-fill zone by inducing flow paths for infiltrated water into it as well as by draining off the infiltrated water out of the dam in a short time.

섬유 구성인자에 의한 지오텍스타일의 수리학적 특성 평가 (Assessments of Hydraulic Properties of Geotextiles with Fiber Composition Factors)

  • 14가지 니들펀치 부직포 지오텍스타일의 섬유구성인자인 두께, 기공도, 섬유장 및 직경 등이 수평투수성에 미치는 영향을 평가하였으며, 두께변화, 수평투수도, 압축 하중 하에서의 수평투수성을 구성방정식에 의해 분석, 평가하였다. 그리고 섬유 패킹 밀도가 다른 라미나(laminar) 지오텍스타일 복합재료를 제조하여 라미나 구조가 수직투수성에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 수평투수도는 부직포 지오텍스타일의 두께가 증가할수록 커졌으며, 기공도와 섬유직경이 커질수록 수평투수계수는 증가하였다. 수직응력이 증가할수록 기공도의 영향은 감소하였으며, 섬유장이 길수록 수평투수계수는 약간 크게 나타났다. 구성섬유의 직경이 클수록 수평 투수계수는 커지며, 직경의 비슷할수록 유사한 투수계수를 나타내었다. 라미나 지오텍스타일의 수직 투수성은 내부 경계면에서의 손실 수두에 영향을 받으며, 경계면에서 투수로의 연결형상은 bell mouth형이거나 부드러운 유입관 형태로 평가 되었다.

$PEBAX^{TM}$/TEOS 하이브리드 분리막을 통한 이산화탄소와 메탄의 기체투과특성 (Gas Permeation Properties of Carbon Dioxide and Methane for $PEBAX^{TM}$/TEOS Hybrid Membranes)

  • Poly(ether-block-amide)(PEBA, $PEBAX^{TM}$)는 열가소성 탄성체(thermoplastic elastomer, TCU)로서 hard-rigid amide block과 soft-flexible ether block으로 구성되어 있으며, 분자량과 두 block간의 구성비에 따라 여러 종류가 있다. $PEBAX^{TM}$는 분리막소재로 이용할 경우, $PEBAX^{TM}$의 hard amide block은 우수한 기계적 특성과 선택도를, 그리고 soft ether block은 높은 투과도를 제공할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 2종류의 $PEBAX^{TM}$를 사용하여 기체분리막을 제조하고, 종류에 따른 이산화탄소와 메탄의 투과특성 변화를 연구하였다. 또한 순수 $PEBAX^{TM}$ 분리막의 투과특성을 향상시키기 위해 무기전구체로서 TEOS(tetraethoxysilane)를 사용하여 $PEBAX^{TM}$/TEOS 하이브리드막을 제조하고, 그 투과특성을 순수 $PEBAX^{TM}$ 분리막의 결과와 비교하였다. 순수 $PEBAX^{TM}$-1657과 $PEBAX^{TM}$-2533 분리막의 투과도 측정 결과, ether block의 비율이 상대적으로 높은 $PEBAX^{TM}$-2533 분리막의 투과도 계수가 보다 높은 투과도 계수값을 가졌다. 이는 $PEBAX^{TM}$-2533의 경우, 상대적으로 높은 ether block 함량 때문에 고분자 사슬의 유연성이 보다 크기 때문으로 볼 수 있다. $PEBAX^{TM}$/TEOS 하이브리드 분리막의 투과특성을 순수 $PEBAX^{TM}$ 분리막의 결과와 비교할 때, 하이브리드 분리막의 기체 투과도 계수가 보다 높음을 알 수 있다. 이는 TEOS의 축합반응으로 생성된 silica domain에 의해 결정성이 감소하고 또한 이산화탄소와 silanol group과의 친화도(affinity) 증가에 따른 용해도가 증가하기 때문으로 볼 수 있다. 하이브리드 분리막의 투과도 계수 증가에도 불구하고 이상분리인자는 거의 비슷하거나 약간 감소하였음을 알 수 있다. 이는 이산화탄소와 silanol group의 친화도 증가로 인한 용해선택도의 증가에 기인한 것으로 볼 수 있다.

압력에 따른 균열 간극변화와 수리전도도 변화 관찰 (The Changes of Aperture Variation and Hydraulic Conductivity for Compression Variability)

  • 압축력의 변화에 따른 균열 간극변화 양상을 측정하고 간극변화와 수리전도도와의 관계를 파악하기 위해 이 연구에서는 다섯 단계의 수직 일축압축력을 균열면에 연속적으로 가하면서 고해상도의 공초점 레이저 스캔 현미경 (confocal laser scanning microscope; CLSM)을 이용하여 간극의 크기를 측정하고 디지털 이미지를 획득하였다. 기존의 연구들과는 달리 이 연구의 측정방법은 압력변화에 대한 동일시료 간극의 반응을 연속적으로 파악할 수 있는 점이 특징이다. 측정결과는 간극크기가 일정하지 않은 불평탄한 균열형태를 매우 잘 나타내었다. 균열 조도(roughness)로 인해 압력에 따른 간극 변화량은 일정하지 않고 부분마다 다름을 보였다. 각 압력단계에서 간극변화에 따른 투수성 변화양상을 파악하고자 실내투수시험을 병행하여 실시한 결과, 각 압력단계에서의 투수성 변화도 일정한 감소율을 나타내지 않고 간극 변화율이 크더라도 투수율은 오히려 작은 경우도 관찰되었다. 현미경을 통해 측정한 물리적 간극과 실제 유체유동 경로가 되는 수리간극의 크기 차이를 파악하기 위해 계산을 한 결과, 미미한 갈이지만 물리적 간극보다 작은 크기의 수리간극이 구해졌다. 또한, 실내투수시험 결과를 이용하여 구한 투수계수는 삼승법칙을 따르지 않는 것으로 드러났으며, 이러한 사실들은 균열 양쪽이 서로 평행하지 않고 불평탄한 양상을 가짐을 의미하는 것으로서, 현미경을 통해 직접 관찰한 간극양상과 잘 일치하는 것이다.

어독성 실험에 따른 방수재 친환경 특성 분석 (Analyses on Environment-friendliness of Waterproof Materials Based on Fish Toxicity Test)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of environment-friendliness of waterproof materials based on comprehensive experiments on waterproofness in terms of coefficients of permeability, harmfulness of waterproof materials and fish toxicity of Oryzias latipes mortality to verify eco-toxicity of each method of construction and waterproof material, which are to be applied by taking eco-toxicity into account when building ecological flows in upper areas on natural and artificial grounds. As a result, the following conclusions have been reached in this study: 1. In regard of the harmfulness analyzed, each material showed a different result of analytical value in each lab tank. Compared to input water, pH, COD, SS, T-P, and T-N values increased a little, but DO value decreased. The value of turbidity analyzed independent of the water quality standard of aquatic ecosystem set forth by the Ministry of Environment increased a little compared to the value in input water. 2. In the experiment of fish toxicity, compacted quicklime, cement fluid waterproof material, cement mortar waterproof material and bentonite powder were found to have 100% of fish mortality, respectively, and membrane waterproof material showed 83.3% of mortality, indicating strong fish toxicity. Improved asphalt sheet (63.3%) and synthetic rubber sheet (53.3%) were analyzed to have medium fish toxicity, while bentonite sheet (6.7%), Hwang-toh (6.7%) and clay (3.3%) showed relatively lower mortality and fish toxicity. 3. Regarding the analysis on waterproofness in terms of the coefficient of permeability of each waterproof material, improved asphalt sheet, synthetic rubber sheet, membrane waterproof material, cement fluid and mortar waterproof material and bentonite sheet were found impervious in case no leakage takes place in construction. Bentonite powder was found practically impervious based on the analytical results from the experiment done in compliance with weight ratios. So were the clay and Hwang-toh from the experimental results. To sum up such results as found in the experiment mentioned so far, the values of harmfulness and waterproofness analyzed were different in each lab tank, but there was absolutely little correlation with the mortality gained from the experiment on fish toxicity. In the experiment of fish toxicity, environment-friendly waterproof materials were analyzed, and it was found that clay, Hwang-toh and bentonite sheet are highly environment-friendly. In contrast, synthetic rubber and improved asphalt sheets were found to have medium-level environment-friendliness. Also, membrane water-proof materials, compacted quicklime, cement fluid and mortar waterproof material and bentonite powder were analyzed to have low environment-friendliness.
