  • In this paper, we estimate correlation dimensions of discrete quasi periodic ordits with frequencies, irrational numbers, which are called quasi Roth numbers. We specify the lower estimate valuse of the dimensions by using the parameters which are derived the rational approximable properties of the quasi Roth numbers.

New Construction Method for Quaternary Aperiodic, Periodic, and Z-Complementary Sequence Sets

  • Based on the known binary sequence sets and Gray mapping, a new method for constructing quaternary sequence sets is presented and the resulting sequence sets' properties are investigated. As three direct applications of the proposed method, when we choose the binary aperiodic, periodic, and Z-complementary sequence sets as the known binary sequence sets, the resultant quaternary sequence sets are the quaternary aperiodic, periodic, and Z-complementary sequence sets, respectively. In comparison with themethod proposed by Jang et al., the new method can cope with either both the aperiodic and periodic cases or both even and odd lengths of sub-sequences, whereas the former is only fit for the periodic case with even length of sub-sequences. As a consequence, by both our and Jang et al.'s methods, an arbitrary binary aperiodic, periodic, or Z-complementary sequence set can be transformed into a quaternary one no matter its length of sub-sequences is odd or even. Finally, a table on the existing quaternary periodic complementary sequence sets is given as well.

Non-periodic motions and fractals of a circular arch under follower forces with small disturbances

  • The deformation and dynamic behavior mechanism of submerged shell-like lattice structures with membranes are in principle of a non-conservative nature as circulatory system under hydrostatic pressure and disturbance forces of various types, existing in a marine environment. This paper deals with a characteristic analysis on quasi-periodic and chaotic behavior of a circular arch under follower forces with small disturbances. The stability region chart of the disturbed equilibrium in an excitation field was calculated numerically. Then, the periodic and chaotic behaviors of a circular arch were investigated by executing the time histories of motion, power spectrum, phase plane portraits and the Poincare section. According to the results of these studies, the state of a dynamic aspect scenario of a circular arch could be shifted from one of quasi-oscillatory motion to one of chaotic motion. Moreover, the correlation dimension of fractal dynamics was calculated corresponding to stochastic behaviors of a circular arch. This research indicates the possibility of making use of the correlation dimension as a stability index.

각성 중 주기성사지운동 여부에 따른 하지불안증후군 환자의 수면 특성 차이에 대한 비교연구 (Difference in Sleep Characteristics between Restless Leg Syndrome With and Without Periodic Limb Movement during Wakefulness)

  • Objectives: Restless leg syndrome (RLS) is a common sensorimotor disorder and is frequently associated with periodic limb movement in sleep (PLMS). Also about one third of patient with RLS have periodic limb movement during wakefulness (PLMW). However there is little research on the correlation between PLMW and RLS. We aimed to evaluate difference in sleep characteristics between patients with RLS with PLMW and those without PLMW. Methods: Our study included twenty eight RLS patients. Subjects underwent suggested immobilization test (SIT) prior to one full-night polysomnography study. Patients were classified into two groups according to the presence of PLMW based on SIT-PLMW index. Polysomnographic findings, subjective sleep quality, and hematologic results were analyzed and compared between the two groups. Results: Mean age of patient with frequent PLMW (SIT-PLMW ${\geq}40/hr$) was significantly higher. RLS patients with frequent PLMW were also significantly related to insomnia severity. The PLMS index was higher in patients with PLMW and showed a significant correlation with the PLMW index. Conclusions: PLMW influence sleep quality such as insomnia and is correlated with movement during sleep.

16-QAM Periodic Complementary Sequence Mates Based on Interleaving Technique and Quadriphase Periodic Complementary Sequence Mates

  • Based on an interleaving technique and quadriphase periodic complementary sequence (CS) mates, this paper presents a method for constructing a family of 16-quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) periodic CS mates. The resulting mates arise from the conversion of quadriphase periodic CS mates, and the period of the former is twice as long as that of the latter. In addition, based on the existing binary periodic CS mates, a table on the existence of the proposed 16-QAM periodic CS mates is given. Furthermore, the proposed method can also transform a mutually orthogonal (MO) quadriphase CS set into an MO 16-QAM CS set. Finally, three examples are given to demonstrate the validity of the proposed method.

  • 시계열의 상관구조가 시점에 의존하며 주기적인 상관성을 보이는 계절성 시계열 자료에 대한 시계열 모형들이 비교 분석된다. 주기적 자기회귀이동평균 모형을 소개하고, 실증분석으로 주기적 상관성을 지닌 스위스 Arosa 지방의 성층권 오존 월별 시계열에 계층형 모형인 주기적 자기회귀이동평균 모형과 계절 누적자기회귀이동 평균 모형의 적합을 통하여 주기적 자기회귀이동평균 모형의 우월성을 비교한다.

누적통과톤수에 의한 국내 레일교체기준의 타당성 평가 (Logicality Estimate for Domestic the Periodic Replacement Criteria of CWR based on Accumulated Passing Tonnage)

  • 본 논문은 누적통과톤수에 의한 레일교체기준 개정을 위한 기초 데이터를 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 국외의 누적통과톤수에 의한 레일교체기준의 산정근거를 조사하였으며, 일본에서 조사된 레일용접부 결합유형 및 원인과 국내 철도운영기관인 서울메트로의 궤도유지관리이력을 조사하여 실제 레일절손과 누적통과톤수의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 또한, 누적통과톤수 기준치에 도래한 노후레일 용접부를 현장에서 발췌하여 레일용접부 휨시험을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 누적통과톤수와 레일절손간의 상관관계는 뚜렷하지 않았으며 레일용접부의 시공불량에 의한 절손사례가 많은 것으로 분석되었다. 또한, 노후레일휨시험 결과 신규레일용접부에 비해 파괴강도가 $17{\sim}18%$만이 저하된 것으로 나타나 레안교체기준에 도래한 노후레일은 사용성 측면에서 충분한 내구성 및 내하력을 확보하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

  • Applying a higher frequency periodic control signal, a state of a chaotic pulse-train generator is quantized. The circuit has various co-existing super-stable periodic pulse-trains (ab. SSPTs) and generates one of them depending on the initial state. Also correlation characteristics of the SSPTs are analyzed precisely. We then consider application of the SSPTs to spread sequences of CDMA with pulse-train signals.

섭동/상관관계 기반 최적화 기법 (Perturbation/Correlation based Optimization)

  • This paper describes a new method of estimating the gradient of a function with perturbation and correlation. We impose a known periodic perturbation to the input variable and observe the output of the function in order to obtain much richer and more reliable information. By taking the correlation between the input perturbation and the resultant function outputs, we can determine the gradient of the function. The computation of the correlation does not require derivatives; therefore the gradient can be estimated reliably. Robust estimation of the gradient using perturbation/correlation, which is very effective when an analytical solution is not available, is described. To verify the effectiveness of perturbation/correlation based estimation, the results of gradient estimation are compared with the analytical solutions of an example function. The effects of amplitude of the perturbation and number of samplings in a period are investigated. A minimization of a function with the gradient estimation method is performed.

웨이블릿 접근을 통한 해수면 높이와 기후 지수간의 다중 스케일 상관 관계 분석 (Multi-scale Correlation Analysis between Sea Level Anomaly and Climate Index through Wavelet Approach)

  • 기후 변화로 인하여 해수면은 상승 추세에 있으며, 이로 인해 해안가 주변 저지대는 물에 잠길 위험에 처해있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 위성 고도계 자료(Topex/Poseidon, Jason-1/2/3) 및 Southern Oscillation Index(SOI) /Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) 자료를 이용하여 해수면 높이 변화와 기후 지수간의 관계를 알아보고자 하였다. 시간 기반의 함수를 주파수 기반 함수 형태로 변환시킨다면 각 자료가 가지고 있는 고유 주기를 분석할 수 있다. 푸리에 변환과 웨이블릿 변환은 대표적인 주기 분석 방법이다. 푸리에 변환은 주기에 대한 정보만 획득 가능하지만, 웨이블릿 변환은 주기 및 시간 정보 둘 다 획득할 수 있다. 웨이블릿 변환은 각 자료에 대한 주기를 찾을 수 있으며, 교차 웨이블릿 변환과 웨이블릿 긴밀도는 두 자료에 대한 공통 주기나 상관 관계 및 위상을 찾을 수 있다. 교차 웨이블릿 변환 결과 해수면 높이 및 두 기후 지수(SOI, PDO)의 1년 주기에서 강한 출력이 확인되었으며, 해수면 높이와 PDO는 역위상 관계를 보였다. 웨이블릿 긴밀도 분석에서는 교차 웨이블릿 변환에서 나타나지 않았던 1년 미만의 단주기 및 장주기에서의 상관관계가 높은 구간을 찾을 수 있었다. 웨이블릿 분석은 각 자료의 주기를 찾을 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 두 시계열 자료가 가지고 있는 주기 및 위상관계를 찾을 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구 결과는 웨이블릿 분석을 통해 기후 자료가 가지는 고유의 주기를 분석하는 데 사용될 수 있을 것이며 시계열 자료 분석에서 찾기 어려운 해양의 다양한 현상을 모니터링하는데 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
