A Study on Packet Scheduling for LTE Multimedia Data (LTE 멀티미디어 데이터를 위한 패킷 스케쥴링 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • The Long Term Evolution (LTE) system is already able to provide a background of variety services for mobile users with multimedia services such as audio, video, and data. In fact, the High Speed Packet Access plus (HSPA+) solution can greatly enhance bit rates on down-link. However, the supporting for multimedia applications with different QoS (Quality of Service) requirements is not devised yet. Hence, in this paper we propose an effective packet scheduling algorithm based on Proportional Fairness (PF) scheduling algorithms for the LTE. In this proposed packet scheduling scheme, we optimized instantaneous user data rates and the traffic class weight which prioritize user's packets. Finally, we evaluated and showed the performance of the proposed scheduling algorithm through simulations of multimedia traffics being transmitted to users over LTE links in a multi-cell environment.

  • This paper proposes a real-time foreground segmentation and background substitution method for protecting the privacy on visual communication. Previous works on this topic have some problems with the color and shape of foreground and the capture device such as stereo camera. we provide a solution which can segment the foreground in real-time using fixed mono camera. For improving the performance of a foreground extraction, we propose the Temporal Foreground Probability Model (TFPM) by modeling temporal information of a video. Also we provide an boundary processing method for natural and smooth synthesizing that using alpha matte and simple post-processing method.

Fast Motion Estimation Using Multiple Reference Pictures In H.264/Avc (H.264/AVC에서 다중 참조 픽처를 이용한 고속 움직임 추정)

  • In video coding standard H.264/AVC, motion estimation using multiple reference pictures improves compression efficiency but the efficiency depends upon image content not the number of reference pictures. So, the motion estimation includes a large amount of computation of no worth according to image. This paper proposes fast motion estimation algorithm that removes worthless computation in the motion estimation using multiple reference pictures. The proposed algorithm classifies a block into valid and invalid blocks for the multiple reference pictures and removes the workless computation by applying a single reference picture to the invalid block. To estimate the proposed algorithm's performance, image quality, bit rate, and motion estimation time are compared with ones of the conventional algorithm in the reference software JM 9.5. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can considerably save about 38.67% the averaged motion estimation time while keeping the image quality and the bit rate, whose are average values are -0.02dB and -0.77% respectively, as good as the conventional algorithm.

  • In autonomous navigation of a mobile vehicle or a mobile robot, localization calculated from recognizing its environment is most important factor. Generally, we can determine position and pose of a camera equipped mobile vehicle or mobile robot using INS and GPS but, in this case, we must use enough known ground landmark for accurate localization. hi contrast with homography method to calculate position and pose of a camera by only using the relation of two dimensional feature point between two frames, in this paper, we propose a method to calculate the position and the pose of a camera using relation between the location to predict through perspective transform of 3D feature points obtained by overlaying 3D model with previous frame using GPS and INS input and the location of corresponding feature point calculated using KLT tracking method in current frame. For the purpose of the performance evaluation, we use wireless-controlled vehicle mounted CCD camera, GPS and INS, and performed the test to calculate the location and the rotation angle of the camera with the video sequence stream obtained at 15Hz frame rate.

  • P2P(Peer-to-Peer) architecture can reduce the network bandwidth and resource on the server since peers exchange data chunks with each other, while server-client architecture causes a lot of traffic on the server. Peers receive a data more reliably when the number of participating peer increases. Currently, P2P traffic has accounted for about 65% of the world's Internet traffic and diverse P2P streaming services have launched combining to video streaming technology. However, the requirements and data chunk delivery algorithms for mobile P2P streaming service should be investigated, since the existing P2P technologies have been developed and designed for the wired network. In particular, the bandwidth fluctuation caused by user mobility, wireless packet collisions, and packet losses brings about different problems on the mobile P2P streaming service compared to existing P2P streaming service. In this paper, we analyzed the problem of mobile P2P streaming services in the 802.11n wireless LAN environment through experiments.

Korean V-Commerce 2.0 Content and MCN Connected Strategy (국내 V커머스 2.0 콘텐츠와 MCN 연계 전략)

  • 'Video Commerce' has grown significantly, and is in the era of so-called V-commerce 2.0. Based on this background, this study focused on the link and the possibility of creating synergy between V-commerce 2.0 content and MCN, and examined the linkage strategy considering its characteristics. In conclusion, first, V-Commerce has evolved into the age of 2.0, centered on the characteristics of content that are oriented towards fun and sympathy, beyond the 1.0 era. Second, V-commerce 2.0 content has the characteristic of replacing the sharing and recommendation based on the nature of SNS networks as promotion and purchase enhancement. Therefore, competitiveness as 'content' is relatively important before 'commerce'. Third, V-commerce 2.0 and MCN industry have a strong connection with each other in terms of securing core competitiveness and creating a new profit model. In order to create the synergy between V-Commerce 2.0 and MCN, we proposed the use of big data to reinforce V-Commerce 2.0 customized content competitiveness, building of storytelling marketing and branding, and enhancement of live performance and interactive communication.

An Ergonomic Analysis on Working Posture Associated with Dental Treatment Using Indirect Viewing Method (간접보기 도구를 이용한 치과 진료 관련 작업자세에 대한 인간공학적 분석)

  • This study tried to focus on nontraditional job that has not been studied in terms of the subjects associated with MSDs(Musculoskeletal Disorders). Specifically, dental procedure was the job to be analyzed in this study. An alternative method as well as a traditional method for viewing teeth while performing simulated dental procedures. Four graduated students did both methods(direct view and indirect view) as the subjects in this study. The method based on indirect view used a video camera and monitor to view the teeth. The experiment was conducted five times for each subject. The major findings in this study were as follows; 1) Job speed was increased with the repetitions for both methods, 2) Difference of Neck flexion between direct and indirect methods was statistically siginificant(Neck flexion for indirect method was dramatically decreased), 3) Difference of job speed between direct and indirect methods was statistically significant(Job speed for direct method was faster than that of indirect method), 4) Difference of error rate between direct and indirect methods was statistically significant(error rate for direct method was lower than that of indirect method), 5) Even though indirect method did not provide better performance in terms of job speed and error rate yet, it seemed to need a trade-off between two methods in the future since indirect method provided better working postures than that of direct method.

  • The research on solar energy that we get from nature to cope with energy exhaustion is a very significant and inevitable task for us to do. Along with this, lately, in Korea, as part of new growth engine industry regarding low-carbon green growth, we have selected the LED(Light Emitting Diode) as low power consuming, eco-friendly lighting equipment and have been facilitating research and development on it and creating a variety of new industries utilizing it. What was developed here in this research was the photovoltaic LED lighting system applying lithium polymer batteries equipped with the excellent performance of lithium ion batteries as well as significantly low explosive hazard. Its photovoltaic panel was made to have 100W capacity, and for its power supply system, functional convenience was considered so that it could be equipped with both DC and AC power to be used as household electricity in a variety of ways.

Real-Time Landmark Detection using Fast Fourier Transform in Surveillance (서베일런스에서 고속 푸리에 변환을 이용한 실시간 특징점 검출)

  • In this paper, we propose a landmark-detection system of object for more accurate object recognition. The landmark-detection system of object becomes divided into a learning stage and a detection stage. A learning stage is created an interest-region model to set up a search region of each landmark as pre-information necessary for a detection stage and is created a detector by each landmark to detect a landmark in a search region. A detection stage sets up a search region of each landmark in an input image with an interest-region model created in the learning stage. The proposed system uses Fast Fourier Transform to detect landmark, because the landmark-detection is fast. In addition, the system fails to track objects less likely. After we developed the proposed method was applied to environment video. As a result, the system that you want to track objects moving at an irregular rate, even if it was found that stable tracking. The experimental results show that the proposed approach can achieve superior performance using various data sets to previously methods.

An Efficient Indoor-Outdoor Scene Classification Method (효율적인 실내의 영상 분류 기법)

  • Prior research works in indoor-outdoor classification have been conducted based on a simple combination of low-level features. However, since there are many challenging problems due to the extreme variability of the scene contents, most methods proposed recently tend to combine the low-level features with high-level information such as the presence of trees and sky. To extract these regions from videos, we need to conduct additional tasks, which may yield the increasing number of feature dimensions or computational burden. Therefore, an efficient indoor-outdoor scene classification method is proposed in this paper. First, the video is divided into the five same-sized blocks. Then we define and use the edge and color orientation histogram (ECOH) descriptors to represent each sub-block efficiently. Finally, all ECOH values are simply concatenated to generated the feature vector. To justify the efficiency and robustness of the proposed method, a diverse database of over 1200 videos is evaluated. Moreover, we improve the classification performance by using different weight values determined through the learning process.
