  • eLoran is enhanced Loran-C and eLoran is researched for as GPS backup system because this system is resistant to signal interference and has high accuracy. TOA measurements of eLoran include errors proportional to the range such as PF, SF, ASF and EF. Therefore these error factors must be compensated for improved accuracy of position. Generally, error models or GPS aided compensation methods are used, but these methods are limited by lack of infrastructure or system performance. Therefore, this paper proposes new model of error factors included in eLoran TOA measurements and navigation algorithm using this model. Error factors in this model are sum of a certain size of error and error proportional to the range. And feasibility and performance of proposed navigation algorithm are verified by using raw measurements.

  • This paper proposes a new linear recursive target state estimator for automotive collision warning system. The target motion is modeled in Cartesian coordinate system while the radar measurements such as range, line-of-sight angle and range rate are obtained in polar coordinate system. To solve the problem by nonlinear relation between these two coordinate system, a practical linear filter design scheme employing the predicted line-of-sight Cartesian coordinate system (PLCCS) is proposed. Especially, PLCCS can effectively incorporate range rate measurements into target tracking system. It is known that the utilization of range rate measurements enables the improvement of target tracking performance. Moreover, PLCCS based target tracking system is implemented by linear recursive filter structure and hence is more suitable scheme for the development of reliable collision warning system. The performance of the proposed method is demonstrated by computer simulations.

  • This paper proposes three positioning algorithms using TOA measurements: 1) The well-known linearization method using Taylor series, 2) a modified Savarese method considering measurement noise, which does not need linearization, and 3) a modified Bancroft method where TOA measurements instead of pseudorange measurements are considered. Furthermore, through an error analysis, for Savarese method, divergence of altitude is anticipated if the transmitters are located at the same height. To prevent height divergence, the Savarese method is modified again for receivers which assumed moving on the even plane. Error analysis also shows the relationship between Bancroft and Savarese method. From the analysis it is expected that the performance of Savarese method is worse than Bancroft method because of error amplification during difference operation. Experiments using real TOA measurement from the time difference of ultra sound and RF validate the proposed methods and show that analysis is correct.

  • This paper proposes using the multi-type sensor vibration measurements, such as from a relative displacement sensors and a traditional accelerometer for the damage detection of shear connectors in composite bridge under moving loads. Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) spectra of these responses will be fused with a data fusion approach i.e., Dempster-Shafer method, to detect the damage of shear connectors. Experimental studies on a composite bridge model in the laboratory are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness and performance of using the proposed approach in detecting the damage of shear connectors in composite bridges. Both undamaged and damaged scenarios are considered. The detection results with the data fusion of multi-type sensor measurements show a more reliable and robust performance and accuracy, avoiding the false identifications.

  • Most of the literature on compressed sensing has not paid enough attention to scenarios in which the number of acquired measurements is insufficient to satisfy minimal exact reconstruction requirements. In practice, encountering such scenarios is highly likely, either intentionally or unintentionally, that is, due to high sensing cost or to the lack of knowledge of signal properties. We analyze signal reconstruction performance in this setting. The main result is an expression of the reconstruction error as a function of the number of acquired measurements.

  • The conventional way to acquire sufficient amount of daylight in interiors is to provide large openings with clear glass. The use of clear glass on the whole facade, however, might cause a sort of visual problem because of the harness of direct sun and brighter sky surface than expected. They should be filtered in opticalway or bounced in the architectural. One of the common solutions for the problem might be the use of photometric glasses with various transmittances for the glass walls. This paper deals with performance data related to the impact of various transmittal glazing materials for window systems in terms of daylighting. A series of scale model measurements was carried out with the fundamental configuration of a commonly used all-glass facades. Additionally some experimental performance index was issued for the better expression of the need of natural lighting.

  • In this study, a wind tunnel, that has been developed for experiments of wind turbine rotor blades, has been considered. The deviations of the measurements have been examined after this wind tunnel had been introduced and the measurements on it had been explained. Two different wind turbine rotor blades miniatures have been used for getting better results from the experiments. The accuracy of measurements have been experimented three times repetitively and examined statistically. As a result, wind speed values which this type of wind tunnel and wind turbine rotors need for starting, wind speed in the tunnel, temperature and moisture values, the number of rotor's revolution, and the voltage that is produced in 102 ${\Omega}$ resistance and current values have been determined to be fixed by measurements used. This type of wind tunnel and wind turbine rotor' performance difference and the difference of revolution figures have been determined to be fixed by measurements used.

  • The performance of one-particle stochastic Lagrangian models for passive tracer dispersion are evaluated against measurements in horizontally-homogeneous neutrally-stratified atmospheric surface layer. State-of-the-technology models as well as classical Langevin models, all in class of well mixed models are numerically implemented for inter-model comparison study. Model results (far-downstream asymptotic behavior and vertical profiles of the time averaged concentrations, concentration fluxes, and concentration fluctuations) are compared with the reported measurements. The results are: 1) the far-downstream asymptotic trends of all models except Reynolds model agree well with Garger and Zhukov's measurements. 2) profiles of the average concentrations and vertical concentration fluxes by all models except Reynolds model show good agreement with Raupach and Legg's experimental data. Reynolds model produces horizontal concentration flux profiles most close to measurements, yet all other models fail severely. 3) With temporally correlated emissions, one-particle models seems to simulate fairly the concentration fluctuations induced by plume meandering, when the statistical random noises are removed from the calculated concentration fluctuations. Analytical expression for the statistical random noise of one-particle model is presented. This study finds no indication that recent models of most delicate theoretical background are superior to the simple Langevin model in accuracy and numerical performance at well.

  • In this paper, the performances of Cram$\acute{e}$r-Rao Lower Bound (CRLB) with Frequency Difference of Arrival (FDOA) measurements for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) tracking are investigated. We focus on two cases: the influence on CRLB with FDOA measurements collected by time, and random distribution of Ground Stations (GSs). We derived the performance by gauging the size of CRLB through Complementary Cumulative Distribution Function (CCDF). From the simulation results, broader distribution of GSs and FDOA measurements by longer time bring about better performance.

  • In order to provided continuous solutions, latest developing navigation systems tend to integrate GPS receiver with INS or DR. Using the GPS carrier-phase measurements, an attitude GPS receiver with three antennas obtain the 3-dimensional attitude such as roll, pitch, and heading as well as position and velocity. With these angle measurements, in the attitude GPS/INS integrated system, attitude or gyro errors can be directly compensated. In this paper, we develop an integrated navigation system that combines attitude GPS receiver with INS. The performance of real-time integrated navigation system is determined by not only the implements of integration filter but also the synchronization of measurements. To meet these real-time requirements, the navigation software is implemented in multi-tasking structure in this paper. We also employ time-synchronization technique in the multi-sensor fusion. Experimental results show that the performance of the attitude GPS/INS integrated system is consistent even when cycle-slip occurs in carrier-phase measurements.
