  • This study suggests a new Hirsch-type composite index, 'transposed g-index' with a different viewpoint on h-index and g-index. From this new point of view, the axes of the graph describing the h-index and g-index are transposed so that the horizontal axis corresponds to the citation frequency threshold and the vertical axis corresponds to the number of documents. Based on this transposed graph, a new indicator transposed g-index is suggested and applied to library and information science researchers' outcomes in Korean Citation Index database. The results show that this new index has more discriminating power than h-index and g-index, and is more sensitive to differences in quantitative aspects than quality of research. It is expected that the transposed g-index will be helpful for the multifaceted evaluation of the research outcome because it has differentiating characteristics that distinguish consistent researchers who continue to study from those who do not.

  • A new measure of the process capability index(PCI) $\textit{C}_{cpk}$ is proposed that takes into account the proximity to the target value as well as process mean and process variation when we assessing process performance. using the semivariance estimators proposed by Choobineh and Branting (1986) and Josephy and Aczel (1993) the estimator($\textit{C}_{cpk}$) of new index has been solved and the properties of these estimators have been examined through simulations. Also we compare the performance between $\textit{C}_{cpk}$ and $\textit{C}_{jpk}$ which is developed by Johnson kotz and Pearn(1992).

  • Falk(1994) showed that the asymptotic efficiency of the Pickands estimator of the extreme value index $\beta$ can considerably be improved by a simple convex combination. In this paper we propose an alternative estimator of $\beta$ which is as asymptotically efficient as the optimal convex combination of the Pickands estimators but has a better finite-sample performance. We prove consistency and asymptotic normality of the proposed estimator. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to compare the finite-sample performances of the proposed estimator and the optimal convex combination estimator.

  • Existing index structures such as extendable hashing and B+-tree do not support partial string searches perfectly. The inverted file method and the signature file method that are used in the web retrieval engine also have problems that they do not provide partial string searches and suffer from serious retrieval performance degradation respectively. In this paper, we propose an efficient index method that supports partial string searches and achieves good retrieval performance. The proposed index method is based on the Inverted file structure. It constructs the index file with patterns that result from dividing terms by two syllables to support partial string searches. We analyze the characteristics of our proposed method through simulation experiments using wide range of parameter values. We analyze the derive analytic performance evaluation models of the existing inverted file method, signature file method and the proposed index method in terms of retrieval time and storage overhead. We show through performance comparison based on analytic models that the proposed method significantly improves retrieval performance over the existing method.

  • Purpose: The study examined core job characteristics and job preference to explain work performance among critical care nurses. The theoretical model was constructed based on the job characteristics model with core job characteristics as exogenous variables, and work performance and job preference as endogenous variables. Methods: A total of 228 hospital nurses participated in the study from May to September, 2015. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results: The model showed a good fit to the data with $x^2/df=2.90$, goodness of fit index = .91, root mean square residual = .20, comparative fit index = .93, and incremental fit index = .93. The core job characteristics explained 64% of the variance in job preference. The core job characteristics and job preference explained 52% of the variance in work performance. Conclusions: The core job characteristics can explain the work performance among critical care nurses through job preference. Effective strategies to improve the work performance among critical care nurses should focus on the application of the core job characteristic into a productive work environment. Further studies are warranted to explore the role of job preference of critical care nurses in promoting their work performance.

  • Recently, the demand for performance evaluation and management at the industrial or corporate level has been increasing. From this perspective, this study has developed indicators to measure and compare construction company performances and we have analyzed various characteristics of those indicators. Throughout our thorough qualitative and quantitative analysis we first identified a set of indicators for performance measurement. These indicators have been shown to meet the requirements of validity, measurability, and comparability. Second, we calculated the performance index of construction companies by applying weightings of the performance categories. Then we performed correlation and regression analyses using the calculated performance index and identified the basic cause-and-effect relationships, as well as the statistical characteristics of the performance index. Drawing on the results of the analytical processes identified in this work, we discuss future research to be conducted.

  • The evaluation of fire risk for combustible materials was carried out using Chung's equations-X, Chung's equations-XI, and Chung's equation-XII, which were newly established. The fire risk index-XII (FRI-XII) and fire risk rating (FRR) were calculated for specimens including camphor tree, cherry, rubber tree, and elm. The combustion characteristics were determined using a cone calorimeter according to ISO 5660-1. Chung's equations caculated the fire performance index-X (FPI-X) and fire growth index-X (FGI-X) values ranged from 89.34 to 1696.75 s2 /kW and from 0.0006 to 0.0107 kW/s2 , respectively. In addition, the fire performance index-XI (FPI-XI) and fire growth index-XI (FGI-XI) varied from 0.08 to 1.48 and from 0.67 to 11.89, respectively. The fire risk index-XII (FRI-XII), which is an indicator of fire risk, showed that camphor tree had a value of 148.63 (fire risk rating: G), indicating a very high fire risk. This suggests that combustible materials with a high concentration of volatile organic compounds have lower FPI-X and FPI-XI values, higher FGI-X and FGI-XI values, and consequently higher FRI-XII values, indicating an increased fire risk.

  • Since a NAND-flash memory is able to store mass data in a small sized chip and consumes low power, it is exploited on various hand-held devices, such as a smart phone and a sensor node, etc. To process efficiently mass data stored in the flash memory, it is required to use an index. However, since the write operation of the flash memory is slower than the read operation and an overwrite operation is not supported, the usage of existing index schemes degrades the performance of the index. In this paper, we survey the previous researches of index schemes for the flash memory and classify the researches by the methods to solve problems. We also present the performance factor to be considered when we design the index scheme on the flash memory.

  • Productivity of public organizations was far older due to issue more difficult to measure than private organizations. Unlike the private sector, the public sector is a diverse and sometimes conflicting objectives (efficiency, effectiveness, equity, democracy, etc.) exist, it is difficult to measure productivity in a single index. Many departments of government is intricately interrelated and sometimes produced by the joint efforts, it is difficult to allocate performance, incentives and accountability to among departments. And there is the difficulty of collecting data on the productivity indicators of public organizations. Despite these difficulties, we developed a productivity index system and measuring method to systematically introduce the concept of productivity in the local administration. In this paper, the productivity and the productivity index measurement practices of local governments conducted annually from 2011 on was deep into research. First, the report found examples of the governments of the developed countries, productivity measurement, then the way MOPAS(Ministry of Public Administration and Security) measure productivity index of local governments, success factors, the implications were in-depth analysis. Finally, in order to enhance productivity and competitiveness municipalities studied ways to take advantage of the productivity index.
