A Study on the Perception of Fire Risk and Flash Flame Concerning the Firefighter (화재진압대원의 화재현장 위험도 및 돌발화염 인식 조사에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the perceptions were surveyed fire risk and flash flames concerning the firefighters. The results were statistically evaluated according to age, experience and rank. More than 70% of the respondents answered that there is a possibility of unexpected flame exposure in the field of fire, but there was no recognition difference according to age, experience and rank. However, if there is an emergency situation in the field of fire, the survey on the ability to cope with crises showed that there is a difference in perception depending on the age, career, and rank of respondents. From these results, it is expected that strengthening simulation training of unexpected situation will be more urgently required in the future, and measures should be taken to minimize human accidents through improvement of standard operation procedures or supplement of fire suppression education according to unexpected situation.

Technology and Home Economics Teachers' Perception of Participation in School Curriculum Organization and High School Credit System (기술·가정과 교사의 학교교육과정 편성 참여와 고교학점제에 대한 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the secondary school technology and home economics teachers' perception of the school curriculum organization and high school credit system. For this purpose, the questionnaire data of 345 secondary technology and home economics teachers nationwide were analyzed through descriptive statistics, t-test, and F-test with SPSS 24. The research results were as follows. First, technology and home economics teachers recognized that current schools lacked the time to organize technology and home economics curriculum (61.1%) and the number of teachers (53%). Most of them have participated (62.0%) and were very willing to participate in the school curriculum organization (4.47, 89.9%). Second, technology and home economics teachers were aware of the high school credit system more than the average (3.34), and more negative (52.8%) than positive (37.7%). As a positive influence, students recognized career choices (3.88) and deepened professional content in their major fields (3.81). On the other hand, the negative impact was the decrease in choice due to non-entry subjects (3.90) and the difficulty in moving teachers to school (3.57). Third, in order to stably respond to the introduction of high school credit system, technology and home economics teachers recognized the importance of coordinating career elective courses (4.51), developing and disseminating teaching and learning materials for elective courses (4.46), separating technology and home economics (4.45), and providing training on evaluation methods and applications (4.44). This study would be useful to provide the basic information and data for the future development of technology and home economics curriculum at the national level based on high school credit system.

Validating Constructs of Web Usage in Education and Learning (웹 사용자 인지측정 도구의 타당화 과정)

  • E-learning has become an ever-increasing delivery method in school and workplace. Many Web sites provide Internet users with lots of information and resources on study, research, and career development in workplace. First, this study aimed at presenting a process of validating instruments to measure perception of using the Web for learning. Secondly, this paper attempted to find out a list of critical constructs that university students recognize when they access Web sites to get some resources on their fields of study. This study also suggested the features of those constructs. This paper would help improve our understanding of Web usage for schoolwork and research. This result of the paper will facilitate further understanding of constructs associated with Web usage in other areas, thereby enabling researchers, practitioners, and policy makers to draw much attention to e-learning.

The Analysis on the Perception of Medical Accident and Dispute of Dental Hygienist (치과위생사의 의료사고 및 의료분쟁에 대한 인식정도 분석)

  • he purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of dental hygienists about medical malpractice and dispute. The subjects in this study were 206 dental hygienists at dental clinics, on whom a survey was conducted. After SPSSWIN 14.0 program was utilized to analyze the collected data, the following findings were given: 1. As for experiences of being complained from patients by age, the dental hygienists who were at the age of 21 to 23 made up the largest age group (39.2%) who had ever meet patients who had grievances. By career, those who had worked for less than a year constituted the greatest group (30.4%) who had the same experiences. It indicated that the dental hygienists who were younger and had a less career had been more complained from patients. 2. In terms of problems posed by patients, scaling came into question the most (14.5%), followed by diagnosis (14.4%), impression (12.9%) and radiography (11.0%). 3. Regarding perception of scaling treatment, 90.8 percent, the greatest percentage, kept records of patients about scaling. As to how to do that, 34.5 percent, the largest percentage, wrote it down and then signed their name. Concerning the way of explaining how to take care of oral health, 82.5 percent gave an explanation without any prints. 4. As to knowledge on the medical law, they got a mean of 12.34 out of possible 16 points. 5. Concerning the necessity of education about the prevention of medical accidents and countermeasures, 70.4 percent felt the strong and urgent need for that.

A Comparative Status Analysis of Elementary and Middle School Students Preference for Science (초ㆍ중학생의 과학선호도 실태 비교 분석)

  • The purpose of this research was to survey and compare the status of science preference of elementary school students with that of middle school students. Preference for science was defined theoretically. According to theoretical model, a questionnaire was developed with piloting and consisted of three parts. First part was for background information, second part, for measurement of science preference and third for measurement of the relevant factors of science preference. The questionnaire was modified for primary school students. In July 2002, the questionnaire was administered to one class per grade of randomly selected 8 elementary and 8 middle schools all over the country and analyzed result of collected 696 elementary school students and 819 middle school students. Middle school students' science preference was low compared with elementary school students, especially in 'emotional response and 'valuational comprehension'. The preference for science became lower especially from 4th to 5th grade and from 8th to 9th grade. The differences of mean science preference were significant by gender. perception of science achievement. and future career choice. The average of science preference relevant factors of middle school students also became lower than elementary students, especially in 'educational factor'. Multiple regression analysis on the science preference showed that important factors were personal ability, the personal traits, rewards in school science and contents of school science, slightly different in elementary and secondary school. The way to promote students' preference for science was suggested on the analysis result.

Exploring the Image Types of Secondary School Students' Perception about the Talented Person in Convergence (중등학생들이 생각하는 융합인재에 대한 이미지 유형 탐색)

  • This study aims to identify the image types of secondary school students' perception about the talented person in convergence and to find the differences in drawing images of the talented person in convergence among the students who have taken STEAM class and the ones who haven't. One hundred and eighty seven students in middle and high schools located in the southern part of South Korea participated in this study and they were asked to draw a picture of the talented person in convergence with a brief explanation. Based on students' pictures, researchers categorized their perception about convergence and talented person in convergence by using an inductive method. The result indicated that secondary school students' perceptions were categorized into convergence as individual cognitive processing and collective cognitive processing and convergence as outcomes. The image of the convergence in a talented person leaning toward individual cognitive processing was divided into the following seven types: idea banker type, various talented celebrity type, multi-tasking master type, multi-talented career type, active problem-solver type, creative developer type, and unrealistic ideal man type. Another image of collective cognitive processing was split into expert group type and interactive-mates group type. The other image was transformer type which is the subcategory of convergence as outcomes. From this study, it can be suggested that secondary school students express the various images of the talented person in convergence depending on experiencing STEAM or not.

High School Students' Perception of Performance Assessment: Focusing on the Performance Assessment of Chemistry Teacher (수행평가에 대한 고등학생의 인식: 화학 교사의 수행평가를 중심으로)

  • This study investigated the perceptions of high school students for 8 performance assessment methods in a chemistry teacher's class by using an explanatory sequential design. To this end, a survey was conducted with 439 students from 10 high schools, and after that, 28 students from 5 schools were interviewed to interpret the survey results. The findings were as follows: First, students were experiencing a biased assessment method rather than various performance methods. Second, intuitive confirmation, relevance to a career path, and internal growth were mentioned in the performance assessment method that felt fun, and readiness and unclear evaluation criteria were mentioned in the performance assessment method that felt difficult. Third, the students recognized that it was not an appropriate performance method if the assessment result was affected by individual abilities less relevant to the chemistry subject or the assessment criteria were unclear.

Development and application of SW·AI education program for Digital Sprout Camp

  • To foster the core talents of the future, the development of diverse and substantial SW·AI education programs is required, and a systematic system that can assist public education in SW and AI must be established. In this study, we develop and combine SW·AI education modules to construct a SW and AI education program applicable to public education. We also establish a systematic education system and provide sustainable SW·AI education to elementary, middle, and high school students through 'Job's Garage Camp' based on various sharing platforms. By creating a sustainable follow-up educational environment, students are encouraged to continue their self-directed learning of SW and AI. As a result of conducting a pre-post survey of students participating in the 'Job's Garage Camp', the post-survey values improved compared to the pre-survey values in all areas of 'interest', 'understanding and confidence', and 'career aspirations'. Based on these results, it can be confirmed that students had a universal positive perception and influence on SW and AI. Therefore, if the operation case of 'Job's Garage Camp' is improved and expanded, it can be presented as a standard model applicable to other SW and AI education programs in the future.

A study on Teacher's Perception, the actual condition for the Early Childhood Character Education depend on Teacher's Personality (유아교사의 인성에 따른 유아 인성교육의 인식 및 실태)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out difference by early childhood teachers' personality and individual factor. Also we wanted to find out the status, need and awareness of character education for early childhood education. Our targets are 194 early childhood teachers who are working in D city in Chungcheongnam-do. We analyzed out data with by SPSS 21.0 program. The results show that First, there was significantly difference in teachers' personality by career and age. Second, while early childhood teachers sympathize importance and need of personality education, absence of methods for practice is obstacle. Third, A high level personality group notices that respect for early children' life, humanity and virtue of relationship is importance virtue. Fourth, Therefore they consider respecting people as aim of personality education and recognize that they need to teach right values through whole area as education contents. Fifth, A low level personality group notices that performance of their duty and manners of early children is needed virtue. They consider manners education as aim and content of personality education also recognize guiding with connecting home teaching is desirable. So, teachers need, above all, chance for reflective thinking by themselves for early childhood character Education.

Development and Effectiveness of STEAM Outreach Program based on Mathematics (수학을 기반으로 하는 STEAM 아웃리치 프로그램 개발과 효과성)

  • Many researches related to STEAM education have been actively conducted for developing elementary and secondary school students' comprehensive and logical thinking ability in relation to creativity education in Korea. Each sub factor of STEAM education requires creative thinking with the ability to be merged together to solve problems as integrated or combined forms in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. Also, these STEAM activities and experiences should be carried out at various places outside the classroom in school. Although various educational programs to enhance mathematical creativity have been emphasized for elementary and secondary school students, recent tendency to focus on classroom learning in the school makes it difficult to develop creative thinking ability of students. This research is mainly based on the result of the project "Development and Administration of STEAM Outreach Program in 2016" supported by KOFAC(Korea Foundation for the Achievement of Science & Creativity). The purpose of this research is to develop a STEAM outreach program including students' activity books, teachers' manuals and administration manual that can maximize STEAM-related interest of students, and to provide a chance for elementary and secondary school students to experience creative thinking based on sub factors of STEAM. The STEAM competency total score and the perception of convergence education were significantly increased for all students participating this program, but some sub factors showed different result by school levels. The STEAM outreach program developed by this study is designed to emphasize STEAM education especially 'based on' mathematics in order to provide students with the opportunity to experience more interest in the field of mathematics and will be able to provide an interesting creative STEAM outreach program that utilizes a variety of activities which, we expect, would help students to consider their career in the future.
