This study was to draw some managerial implications by examining the role of content career plateau, an individual's perception that one's own career is stagnated, in the relationship between the members' perception on HR practices and organizational commitment/turnover intention. The result showed that the perception on education/training practices has positive influence on organizational commitment, and a negative effect on turnover intention and career plateau. However, the perception on evaluation/compensation was shown to have no direct impact either on organizational commitment or on turnover intention. In addition, career plateau served as a partial mediator only between the perception on education/training practices and the attitudinal variables. Based on the results, some managerial/practical implications and suggestions for future research on career plateau are discussed.
This research studied occupational view and perceptions of career education for elementary school by elementary school teachers and parents. Questionnaires were administered to 113 teachers and 523 parents. Data were analyzed by ${\chi}^2$ and t-test. Results showed statistically significant differences in teachers' occupational view by sex, educational background, field experience in elementary school, and experience of inservice teacher education; statistically significant differences in parents' occupational view by sex and age; statistically significant differences between teachers and parents in occupational views; and statistically significant differences between teachers and parents in perceptions of career education. This study explores the possibility and development plan for science career education in the lower grades of elementary school. Accordingly, science career education programs were developed and applied. We investigated changes in perception and interest in science before and after the programs, and analyzed surveys, research journals, student worksheets, and interview records. Science career education programs for lower-grade elementary school students have a positive effect on the perception of scientists and science. Moreover, they influence students' interest in science. Lastly, students' perception of this program was positive and gave high marks to all parameters such as interest, participation, and understanding of the program.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of gender, science achievement, perceptions of science, and out-of-school experience on middle school students' science career aspiration. We conduced a survey on 181 middle school students and investigated whether there was a difference in perception of science and out-of-school experience according to science career aspiration, and derived the eight variables from survey items based on exploratory factor analysis. And we conducted a logistic regression analysis that explains the effects of eight derived variables, gender, and science achievement on science career aspiration. The result of analysis showed that only two factors such as 'interest and preference for science learning' and 'use of everyday tools' were significant to explain science career aspiration. It has thus been found that it is important to increase students' interest in and preferences for science learning and use of tools in everyday life in order to increase their science career aspiration.
