  • The purposes of this study were (1) to investigate the characteristics of the exhibits at three representative science centers or museums in Seoul, and (2) to analyse students' perceptions about the most and the least favorite exhibits selected by students as visitors. Three science centers investigated were Seoul National Science Museum, Seoul Education & Science Research Institute, LG Science Hall. The subjects for students' perception survey were 290 middle school students who visited the three science centers. The investigation of the exhibits showed that the goals, the contents, the visitors' viewing and manipulating activity types, and the explanation types of the exhibits depended on the purposes and the target visitors of each science center. Students' responses indicated that they most favored hands-on exhibit. And students preferred the exhibits that had new and comprehensible contents and the were related to what they had learned in school. Students said that they felt that science was exciting and that they came to experience what they did not do in school. Students said that reading or hearing given explanations was helpful to understand the exhibits, but about 20% of the students responded that they did not read explanation on panels at all. Students also said that guide's oral explanations were more understandable than written explanations on panels. Some of the students commented that having to wait for access because of crowds or because of the resetting time required for hands-on activities was inconvenience.

  • This study aims to discuss sustainable fashion trends and sustainable design directions that fashion companies are practicing with ESG in the post-corona new normal era. As a research method, this study examined sustainable fashion trends and ESG practices through empirical case studies focusing on each fashion brand's website, including previous research and literature research, using materials such as newspapers and magazines. As for ESG practice plans, they were divided into four categories: technology orientation, design orientation, consumption orientation, and social value pursuit orientation. The sustainable fashion trends were also divided into four categories. First, the trend exhibits cyclical sustainability using pro-environmental materials, such as pro-environmental fibers, recycled fibers, biodegradable fibers. Second, high sensitivity and rare value sustainability were shown using reuse and upcycling. Third, consumption-oriented trends were promoted through slow fashion. Fourth, in order to realize eco-friendly sustainable fashion and ESG as practical ways to pursue social values, there is a trend of integrating sustainability through changes in perception considering people, society, and the environment. Beyond spreading concern about value consumption trends and the environment, it presents a direction for future industries concerning core values with social roles, responsibility, and ethical awareness from various perspectives.

  • Vincent van Gogh is a Dutch postimpressionism artist that is one of the most influential painter of the 20th century with his vivid colors and sensibility. 'The Bedroom at Arles' is the art piece that van Gogh himself had admitted to be a great artwork, which also reflects the story of his life and inner thoughts. The spacial characteristics of 'The Bedroom at Arles' are amanufactures the following. First, the space shown at 'The Bedroom at Arles' exhibits the phenomenon of undoing the law of perspective by authorizing individual existence to the objects and space, instead of fitting in the objects into the space in the order given by the law of perspective; entirely rearranging the reminiscent space from past. Secondly, the expression 'bedroom' reflects that the subject was about his own experience with the space and a representation of his imagination, which is a metaphorical symbol. Thirdly, van Gogh used strong colors and brush touches to express his subjective opinion, which aren't the actual shades of the scene, but chosen only to approach the space and objectives with his own symbolic interpretation from his heart. Through a synthetic overview of the characteristics of van Gogh's 'The Bedroom at Arles', it could be told that he holds an essential Space perception system, in hir inner self. The space is intentionally rearranged and strangely altered to form an entirely new relation, breaking the tension from the systematically stable rules and orders. 'The Bedroom at Arles' seems to express an unique and symbolic sensation and experience through the combination of its colors and spacial structure.
