  • We have experienced 30 cases of traumatic diaphragm injury between January,1988 and August,1993. 30 cases were reviewed and following results were obtained. 1.Sex ratio is 22:8 with male dominance. 2.The 27 cases were due to blunt trauma and other 3 cases were due to penetrating injury. 3.Left side injury was more common than right[24:6 . 4.The most common herniated abdominal organ was the stomach 5.Mortality rate was 27% and its causes were not diaphragmatic injury itself, but other associated multiple organ injury.

  • Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) has been used to image inside concrete specimens embedded with steel bars and delamination. An imaging algorithm has been developed to improve measurement output generated from a commercial radar system. For the experiments, laboratory size concrete specimens are made with the dimensions of $1,000mm(W){\times}1,000mm(L){\times}250mm(D)$. The results have shown improved output of the radar measurements compared to commercially available processing methods.

  • SecA protein which has a pivotal role in the preprotein cranslocation across the inner membrane of Escherichia coli is a water-soluble protein with an unusual property of penetrating the membrane readily. An interesting and important question is what structural characteristics of SecA enables its ready penetration of lipid bilayer. The conformational properties of SecA in solution at 3$0^{\circ}C$, pH 7.5 were observed by hydrogen-tritium (HT) exchange, and denaturant-induced denaturation/renaturation and thermal unfolding. • Ballasted track is constructed in consideration of the maintenance. The application time and frequency of MTT(Multiple Tie Tamper) and BS(Ballast Cleaner) depend on track geometry measurements. This paper presents the application of Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR), Falling Weight Deflectometer(FWD), and Portable Ballast Sampler (PBS) to evaluate the effects of track geometry due to substructure deterioration and to build a reliable substructure evaluation system.

3차원 전파(電波) 전파(傳播)를 위한 시뮬레이션에는 FDTD(Finite Difference Time Domain) 방법을 사용하였다.

  • Recently, massive concrete structures exposed to salt from ocean marine environments, or from winter deicing. The corrosion caused by chloride-penetration may affect severey the durability and service life of such a concretestructures. Thus, it is necessary to develop durable concrete to enhance the corrosion resistance. In this study, we investigate the usage of adequate corrosion-protection materials in order to reduce permability-coefficient of concrete and method of enhancing the durability of concrete structures using by penetrating corrosion-protection materials.

  • The use of thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) for beta dosimetry has been encumbered by the energy-dependent responses of TLDs to beta radiation. This energy-dependent response is due to the low penetrating ability of beta particles. Thus the determination of the beta dose imparted to an exposed TLD chip can be accurately determined only if the energy distribution of beta radiation is correctly accounted for. So precise beta dosimeter used TLD chips place under several aluminum filters of varying thicknesses and developed to correctly determine doses due to radiation fields where the beta energy distribution is unknown.

  • The first known males of the spider Alloclubionoides ovatus (Paik, 1976) from Korea are described with detailed illustrations, spination of each leg and trichobothrium patterns. Males have a large conductor expanded curvedly 'p'-shaped with thin membrane of distal end surrounded the linear embolus and slender embolus penetrating tegulum.

  • Vibrio vulnificus, a Gram-negative estuarine bacterium, is the causative agent of food-borne diseases, such as life-threatening septicemia. V. vulnificus penetrating into the intestinal epithelial barrier stimulates an inflammatory response in the adjacent intestinal mucosa. Therefore, interaction between V. vulnificus and intestinal cells is important for understanding of both the immunology of mucosal surfaces and V. vulnificus. In this study we investigated the effects of V. vulnificus infection on cytokine gene expression of human intestinal epithelial cells, Caco-2 and INT-407 cells. (omitted)

  • In this paper, a hidden surface removal algorithm that generates a perspective view of three space plane-faced objects using scan line coherence is proposed. In particular, the proposed algorithm deals with hidden surface elimination of penetrating objects by using the optimum span division method with minimum test for priority test of segments. Also, a hidden surface redmoval method for representing sectional view of solids by using boolean difference is described.
