밀감과피의 식이섬유 및 Bioflavonoid 정제 중 Phenthoate 잔류분의 제거 (Removal of Phenthoate Residues During the Preparation of Dietary Fiber and Bioflavonoid from Mandarin Peels)

  • Mandarin orange fruits were artificially contaminated with an organophosphorus insecticide phenthoate by dipping and the residue level of phenthoate was investigated during the purification steps of dietary fiber or bioflavonoid. The removal rate of phenthoate at 8 and 0.5 ppm levels was 98% in the total dietary fiber, 99% in the insoluble dietary fiber and 99.8% in the soluble dietary fiber preparations. Kuring the preparation of biflavonoid from peels at a 5 ppm pesticide level, the removal rate was 90% in the intermediate extract and 99.9% in the final extract. In conclusion, phenthoate residues in the peels of mandarin orange were mostly removed during the preparation processes of dietary fiber of bioflavonoid and its residue level would not raise any problem in safety aspects of the purified products.

  • Chemical constituents of fruit peels of Fortunella japonica Swingle were investigated, and ten compounds were purified and isolated through various chromatographic procedures. Through NMR analysis, isolated compounds were identified as ${\alpha}$-tocopherol (1), lupenone (2), ${\beta}$-amyrin (3), ${\alpha}$-amyrin (4), ${\beta}$-sitosterol (5), ${\beta}$-sitosteryl 3-O-glucopyranoside (6), kaempferide 3-O-rhanmopyranoside (7), 3',5'-di-C-${\beta}$-glucopyranosylphloretin (8), acacetin 7-O-neohesperidoside (9), and acacetin 8-C-neohesperidoside (10). Compounds 1-7 were identified for the first time by our group from fruit peels of F. japonica.

Development of Fruit and Vegetable Peels Extracts for Memory Improvement of Prevention and Treatment of Cognitive Impairment

  • This study relates to a composition for improvement of memory or prevention and treatment of cognitive impairment using waste resources rich in beneficial substances. This study makes good effects to inhibit the activity of acetylcholinesterase in brain tissue and to improve the cognitive functions in a simulation model of cognitive impairment induced by scopolamine, so it can be available in the promotion of memory and the prevention and treatment of cognitive impairment. The composition uses the extract of fruit peels, which have long been used without causing toxicity in a wide range of food applications; therefore, it can be used safely without a risk of side effects, even in the case of a long-term administration for the preventive purpose. Furthermore, this research is a very beneficial invention in the environment-friendly aspect in association with the recycling of resources, as it is based on the novel efficacies of fruit peels, which have been conventionally disposed as a refuse of fruits due to their poor sensory qualities despite the content of beneficial substances.

밀감과피로부터 식이섬유와 Bioflavonoid 정제 중 Fenitrothion 잔류분의 제거 (Elimination of Fenitrothion Residues during Dietary Fiber and Bioflavonoid Preparations from Mandarin Orange Peels)

  • 밀감에 유기인계 농약인 fenitrothion 성분을 인위적으로 부착시킨 후, 밀감과피에서 식이섬유 및 bioflavonoid의 정제과정중 농약성분의 제거율을 실험하였다. 신선한 밀감과피로부터 정제된 총 식이섬유와 불용성 식이섬유 및 수용성 식이섬유의 수득율은 풍건물 기준으로 각각 17.4%, 13.1%, 1.7%로 나타났다. 밀감과피에 0.5 및 13 ppm의 fenitrothion 성분을 부착시킨 후, 과피의 마쇄, 효소처리, 에탄올 침전 및 여과, 아세톤 세척, 풍건 등을 거쳐 식이섬유를 정제하였을때, fenitrothion 성분의 제거율을 보면 각각 총식이섬유에서 98.4%, 91.9%, 불용성 식이섬유에서 99.7%, 97.1%, 그리고 수용성 식이섬유에서 100%, 99.6%로 나타났다. 밀감과피로 부터 마쇄, 열수추출, 에탄올 침전, hexane 및 butanol 추출 과정에 의한 bioflavonoid 정제 중 fenitrothion 잔류분의 제거율은 중간추출물에서 92.7%, 최종추출물에서는 100%로 나타났다. 결론적으로 밀감과피에 잔류하는 fenitrothion 성분은 식이섬유와 bioflavonoid의 정제 중에 그의 대부분이 제거되는 것으로 판단된다.

마늘껍질을 이용한 느타리버섯의 인공재배 (Cultivation of Oyster Mushrooms Using the Garlic Peel as an Agricultural by-product)

  • High prices of raw materials used as media for the mushroom cultivation increased the cost of commercial production of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus). In this study, garlic peels (Allium sativum f. pekinese) as an agricultural by-product were investigated to replace the saw dust for the bottle cultivation of oyster mushroom. Mycelial growth of oyster mushroom were examined by the extracts made from the sawdust, rice bran and garlic peels. The mycelial growth was very poor in the agar media containing the extracts of sawdust or garlic peels, but was good when those of the rice bran were added. In the polypropylene bottle experiment, the sawdust medium which ammended with minerals vitamin was essential for the production of the mushroom fruitbodies. The rice bran was considered to stimulate the mycelial growth, but not the development of basidiocarps. The garlic peel was not a factor to stimulate the production of mushroom fruitbodies, but a raw material ammended with the rice bran produced much amounts of mushroom. In this work, garlic peels ($10{\sim}70%$ v/v) added to the mixture of sawdust and rice bran (4 : 1, v/v) was considered to help the productions of mushroom fruitbodies. Based on the result, the replacement of expensive saw dust with inexpensive garlic peels was a good example to reduce production cost of the bottle cultivation of mushroom.

농산 부산물인 밤껍질을 이용한 버섯균의 배양 (Cultivation of Several Mushrooms Using Chestnut Peels as an Agricultural By-product)

  • 농산 부산물인 밤껍질을 이용하여 버섯균의 배양 및 재배실험을 통하여 버섯재배에 관련된 기초자료를 얻고자 실시하였으며, 특히 밤껍질을 이용한 느타리 및 표고버섯 재배를 중심으로 재배특성을 고찰하였다. 밤껍질의 내피는 외피 비하여 영양이 많은 관계로 곰팡이에 의하여 많이 오염되었으나, 균사의 생장은 좋았다. 밤껍질외피는 내피에 비하여 리그닌 함량이 높았으며, 균사의 성장은 불량하였는데, 이는 버섯생장에 필요한 영양성분이 부족하기 때문인 것으로 판단된다. 느타리와 노루궁뎅이 버섯은 밤껍질의 내피에서 잘 성장하였고, 자실체도 잘 형성되었다. 표고의 경우는 균사의 성장은 잘 되었으나, 자실체 형성은 좋지 않았다. 밤껍질외피에서 균사성장이 불량한것은 mineral 성분의 부족이 원인인 것으로 생각되며, 톱밥, 미강 및 mineral 등 다른 기질 첨가로 버섯재배가 가능하였다. 기질에서 버섯균의 성장을 $CO_2$ 생산량으로 조사하였는바 표고와 느타리의 성장은 기질에 따라 다소 다른 면을 보였다. 본 연구의 결과로부터 밤껍질내피는 그대로 버섯재배에 사용할 수 있었으며, 밤껍질외피에도 적절한 영양원을 첨가한다면 버섯균사 배양 및 재배에 사용 가능한 것으로 판단된다.

톱밥-귤박 파티클보드의 역학적 성능에 미치는 밀도와 귤박첨가율의 영향 (Effect of Density and Mixing Ratio of Mandarin Peels on The Bending Performance of Sawdust-Mandarin Peels Particleboards)

  • 본 연구는 밀도와 귤박첨가율이 다른 톱밥-귤박 파티클보드의 동적 정적탄성계수와 휨강도를 측정, 비교하여 밀도와 귤박의 첨가율이 파티클보드의 역학적 성능에 주는 영향과 동적탄성계수와 정적 휨강도 성능사이의 관계를 조사하였다. 톱밥-귤박 파티클보드의 밀도가 0.4에서 $0.6g/cm^3$로 증가할수록 휨성능은 증가하여, 밀도가 휨성능에 크게 영향하였으며, 밀도 $0.4g/cm^3$$0.5g/cm^3$의 톱밥-귤박 파티클보드에서 귤박의 첨가량이 증가할수록 휨성능은 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 톱밥-귤박 파티클보드의 동적탄성계수, 정적탄성계수 그리고 휨강도 사이에 높은 상관관계가 확인되었으며 양단 자유 휨진동시험에 의한 동적탄성계수로부터 비파괴적으로 정적 휨강도 성능의 예측이 가능할 것으로 사료되었다.

  • 본 연구는 제재과정에서 발생하는 톱밥과 농업부산물인 귤박의 새로운 활용 방안을 찾기 위하여 수행되었다. 귤박 혼합율 및 밀도별로 혼합보드를 제조한 후 수지함침율, 탄화온도 및 귤박혼합율별로 세라믹화 하여 물리적 성질을 조사하였다. 수지함침율이 증가할수록 두께와 길이감소율 및 밀도는 증가하였고, 중량감소율은 감소하였다. 탄화온도가 증가할수록 중량감소율은 증가되었고, 길이와 두께 감소율은 $1000^{\circ}C$까지 증가하고 그 이후의 증가는 완만하였다. 귤박혼합율이 높을수록 중량과 두께 및 길이 감소율은 감소하였다.

생물자원 폐기물을 활용한 친환경 가죽염색(I): 양파껍질을 이용한 장어가죽 천연염색 (Eco-friendly Leather Dyeing using Biomass Wastes(I): Natural Dyeing of Eel Skin using Onion Peels)

  • This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of eco-friendly leather dyeing by utilizing food wastes. Natural dyeing of eel skin was attempted using onion peels which have been used commonly for natural dyeing of textile fabrics. Eel skin is a by-product from fishery processing and is used mainly for making leather products. The colorant was extracted from onion peels in boiling water, concentrated, and freeze-dried. Dyeing of eel skin was carried out to study the effects of dyeing conditions, mordant type and mordanting method on dye uptake, color change, drape stiffness and colorfastness. The optimum dyeing conditions were $60^{\circ}C$ of dyeing temperature, 60min of dyeing time at 1:100($H_2O$ 90%: ethanol 10%) of bath ratio. The onion peels produced yellowish color on eel skin. The pre-mordanting was effective than the post-mordanting. As a result of the drape stiffness measurement, the Fe-mordanted sample was somewhat stiffer comparing to other mordanted samples. The light fastness of the non-mordant dye was excellent in 3-4 grade. Drycleaning fastness and rubbing fastness showed excellent results, but fastness was not significantly improved by mordanting.

감귤과피로부터 분리한 식이섬유의 포도당, 담즙산, 카드뮴 투과억제에 관한 In Vitro 연구 (Reaarding Effect of Dietary Fibers Isolated from Tangerine Peels on Glucose, Bile Acid, Cadmium transport In Vitro)

  • Retarding effects of the dietary fibers from tangerine peels on glucose, bile acid and cadmium transport were evaluated by dialysis method, and were compared with those of commercial dietary fibers(citrus pection, CM-cellulose, guar gum, $\alpha$-cellulose). Yields of total (TDF), insoluble(IDF) and soluble dietary fibers(SDF) from tangerine peels on the fresh matter basis were 2.84%, 1.95% and 0.39% respectively. The amount of insoluble fibers was 5.2 times higher than that of soluble fibers. Soluble fibers(guar gum, CM-cellulose, SDF, pectin) had the retarding effect on glucose transport, while IDF, TDF and $\alpha$-cellulose did not have. Guar gum showed the greatest effect, followed by CM-cellulose, SDF and pectin. Among the extracted fibers, only SDF had the effect on glucose transport retardation. Regarding bile acid dialysis, guar gum had the greatest retarding effect, and all dietary fibers from tangerine peels, especially SDF, showed the effect of bile acid retardation. On cadmium transport retardation, CM-cellulose had the greatest effect, followed by SDF, TDF, IDF, guar gum and pectin. Among the extracted fibers, SDF had the greatest effect on Cd trasport transport retardation. The extracted dietary fibers showed higher retarding effect on Cd transport than glucose and bile acid transport, and the effect of SDF was higher than IDF.
